I got several pairs of pants hemmed. I was nervous at first, because she lady who helped me to two seconds to mark the length. But I picked up my pants 3 hours after dropping them off and they looked great -- the hems are neat and were done exactly as I asked. They charge $13 per pair of pants, which is much cheaper than the other places I've tried in Hell's Kitchen. I will definitely be bringing my business back.\r more

Sorelle was recommended to me by a friend and is now favorite tailor shop in Manhattan. This shop is really out of my way because I live crosstown but I don't trust anyone else. The ladies who run this shop are very sweet and helpful. I can be picky when it comes to my clothes but they always let me know my options and we talk everything through. The quality of work is amazing and I'm always satisfied! I highly recommend this shop.\r more

Recently moved to the hell's kitchen area, and was looking for a new tailor, as I order a lot of suits online that I need to get altered. After a couple of busts at other shops, I went to Sorelle because of the positive reviews I saw on here. As the other reviews mention, it's run by two nice ladies that know their stuff. They took a suit that I was told was unalterable by other tailors, and made it wearable for me. Have gone back to them two times since, and have come out satisfied each time.\r \r \r more

My spouse and I have been going to Sorelle Tailors for a couple of years now and have found their work to be excellent, prices reasonable and service courteous. I have had them do extensive tailoring on suits and jackets and have been very happy with the results. On the rare occasion when I have had an issue with an alteration, the ladies at Sorelle have cheerfully rectified the problem. I highly recommend them.\r more

I had a beautiful dress that I bought a few years ago on a whim but it was an awkward length so sadly I never had a chance to wear it. My friend had an idea to not only shorten the length but to create a more bubble/tulip hem shape to update it but I was afraid it would end up as an experiment gone awry and/or be prohibitively expensive. Enter Mari and Jean Tailoring. My friend has been going to them for years and when I told them our ideas, the wonderful ladies were able to alter the dress for a good price and within a reasonable time frame. I completely love the ""new"" dress and got tons of compliments when I wore it to a friend's wedding. They also altered another dress for me and I can't wait for warmer weather to come back so I can actually wear it. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a tailor you can trust.\r more

Sorelle Tailor shop is the best in the city. I have been bringing them expensive clothing to tailor for years and never had a problem. These sisters charge reasonable rates. You get what you pay for like everything in life. If you think they are too expensive and you don't want to spend money on tailoring, then go somewhere else and don't be upset when your clothes come out looking horrible. Thank you Sorelle for years of amazing tailoring!! more

When Tony the Tailor closed, this was the great find! 6/29/2011

When the famous Tony the Tailor closed down, all of us felt lost. We had depended on his great alterations for so long at his place at 42nd & Eighth Avenue. Then everyone said ""Try Sorelle - they are just as perfectionnist and professional."" And they were right. Stop in and see for yourself. They are two wonderful sisters who do wonderful work! A1! more

Fabulous for custom evening gowns and brides maid dresses 4/18/2011

I accidentally happened upon this tailoring shop in Midtown with difficult fabrics no other tailor would touch. But Mary and Jean are brilliant! They worked with me on 2 dresses I designed - an evening gown and a bride's maid dress. They were absolutely wonderful to work with and their skill far exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't go anywhere else! BTW it appears the phone number on this website is incorrect. I think their actual number is 212-564-2827 more

Bridesmaid Dress 4/12/2011

I have been bringing the clothes that need tailoring to Mary and Jean for the last 4 years. Their attention to detail is impeccable. I recently brought a bridesmaid's dress that needed major work to Mary and Jean and not only did they get this back to me when promised it also looked great! I high recommend using them on your next gown. more

Excellent Tailors 4/12/2011

I bring to Sorelle from my home in the Bronx anything that needs to be altered. They have done hems and sleeves on my coats. The quality of their work is excellent and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Very polite and lovely ladies, too. more

MY 'GO TO' TAILORS 4/5/2011

Was looking for a tailor when I moved into the Penn Station/Macy?s area. I went to Sorelle as a stylist friend of mine recommended them to me. I unfortunately had gone to a local dry cleaner first, and it was a disaster. The 2 very nice ladies running the shop, Mary and Jean, took the suit that was nearly ruined by the dry cleaner, and repaired it to perfection for me. I have been a repeat customer ever since, and am satisfied each time with the quality of their work & service. I recently had them completely alter a long dress that I was wearing to a wedding. When they were done, it came out looking like I had a couture gown! I couldn?t be happier. They do a great job! more

Do NOT use this tailor 3/26/2011

The decent prices aren't worth it! Sorelle lost my $500 dress -- just lost it. The worst part is that they wouldn't admit it -- they insisted that I'd previously picked it up, while at the same time saying it was my fault for leaving my items over one month (for this I expect a fee, not losing it). And now, I've come home and inspected the pants which they hemmed and, miraculously, did not lose, only to find that one of them has discolored spots along the legs -- they are ruined, unwearable. That's about $600 worth of lost and ruined merchandise. Thanks Sorelle! You ladies are the effing worst! more

Great Tailor 12/29/2010

First went there to have my cuffs done. Simple project. Then I needed to have velcro sewn on my down coat the entire length of the zipper. They did a great job. Very professional. more

the ONLY tailor in NYC that i will use... 9/16/2010

i stumbled upon this tailor years ago through citysearch and have been frequenting them ever since. over the course of the years, they have hemmed numerous pants, kept the original hem on jeans and lowered the waist line on a skirt. basically anything i would need a good tailor to do... it's also walking distance from soiffer haskin...so after the hugo boss sale, they completely redid the suit jacket for the hubby. if i could have given a half star, the only downside would be that they are SO good that they can be quite busy... but as the hubby so aptly put it... ""they did a really good job with my suit. why would i take the risk and go somewhere else?"" more

Hands-Down the Best, Most Honest Tailors in NYC 9/15/2010

These tailors were recommended to me by my truly fabulous friend in the fashion business about 3 years ago as the best tailors in NYC. I have been going to them ever since and he was absolutely right. These ladies are incredibly talented tailors and the most honest, hard-working owners of any business I have used in the 7 years that I've lived in NYC. I am saddened by the previous review and know it cannot be true. I literally just picked up a long dress from them today, which required some very complicated tailoring and they did an absolutely beautiful job at an amazingly affordable price. (As a comparison, I have a friend who has the exact same dress and she had the same work done on it by a tailor in midtown who charged her 3 times the price). I highly recommend these tailors. more

I love this place! 9/6/2010

I have been bringing my own and my teen daughters' clothes for alterations ever since another garment district business referred them to me over 4 years ago. It's worth it to bring all my stuff in from NJ due to their reasonable price and quality work. The sisters are very pleasant to work with and they are able to turn the wok aound in a very short time. I won""t go anywhere else! more
