Best

Always a welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff and I can honestly say in the 30 times we've visited; never an average meal.

New Thursday and Friday Night Fun 12/5/2009

For the past several weeks we have made Solomons our Friday night destination for a great dinner and wonderful music. \r Bill Stonehouse is performing there Thursday and Friday evenings which is quite a treat. Bill does everything from Neil Dimond to Frank Sinatra with the greatest of ease. \r I can not think of anything better than a great dinner (at a great price) and an evening of easy listening to start the weekend. Pros: Great Food Great Music Cons: Needs a better dance floor more

Great Restaurant 4/22/2009

We had dinner at Solomon's on Six Forks for the first time last week and were very impressed. The salads that came with our delicious entree specials were fresh, served with homemade dressing and fried flat bread. The portions were large and flavorful. The interior of the restaurant is decorated as if you were eating outside on a lush garden terrace and the service was never overbearing but always there often and at the right times. The entree choices are not that extensive but if each one tastes as good as mine or my companion's I will gladly sacrifice quantity for quality. Their beer menu has some interesting choices but unfortunately they were out of the one that I wanted to try. I'll recommend to family and friends. Pros: creative ambience, salad and specials Cons: out of an item on menu more

horrible service 3/5/2009

Rebecca, college student rude. I not go back. I was only customer. NOt volunteer to do anything for me. I had to ask her to do her work continually. She was nice to her co-workers,horrible to me. She would back talk rude to me continually. She left me to talk to her male customers. Not come back. I was only customer.I was still a customer. She told me not want to write down my order not her job. I told her i leave and go somewhere else. She said in a rude way she would write down order. Rush to get rid of me. Continually interrup me. After I asked her to bring home left overs,to go bag. She asked me if I wanted it. She gave me a box too small. She knew it would not fit. Had to ask her for another one. Then she asked me if wanted one. She would not volunteer to give me a bag. Gave me a rude look as i left.no tip. more

Awesome Food! 1/15/2009

I've been going to Solomon's for years and have never been dissappointed with the food. Everytime I try something new it's my new favorite thing to order. A great lunch time or dinner spot. Lunch is pretty quick to get in and out if you're in a hurry. I've always had very friendly service. The owner and staff really care that your experience is pleasant and that your food was as expected. Pros: Excellent tasting food with fast service more

Used to be our favorite restaurant 9/15/2008

My husband and I have been going to Solomon's since it opened. We have always raved about the food and the owners/service we have received in the past. Within the past year, we have noticed that the service and the quality of food has gone downhill. The wait staff is not prompt or very friendly anymore. We have since moved to another area, and while visiting Raleigh recently decided to stop in; it was not a good experience. Hoping that things had gotten better or maybe we'd just had a few not so fabulous visits, we had decided to give it another try. We will not be back again. I am sorry to say this b/c we support and care for the owners, but I cannot continue to spend our money where it is not appreciated by other members of the staff. more

Great food 6/2/2008

Fantastic food. Always fresh and light but very filling. Nice staff, nice place. Highly recommended. 1st timers may be confused by ordering up front but once you have done it, you will like how quick it moves. Pros: The FOOD! more

Strange lunch procedures, and no spice 5/15/2008

First impression as I walk through the door at lunch, there is a long line of people in front of two registers. I couldn't tell what was going on , if this was the line to pay or the line to be put on a waiting list. There are no signs or instructions so I had to ask the people in line. At lunch you have to stand in a line to place your order and you prepay, and then you seat yourself. Not only does this cause a back up, but you have to hunt down your own menu so you can decide what to order while standing in line. Therefore you feel rushed to make a decision. If paying with a card, you are including your tip before you ever get any service. \r After placing my order I noticed the beautiful decor, and the luxurious looking leather chairs. Not long after the food arrived, but we still hadn't gotten our drinks yet. I got a simple chicken and hummus plate, and everything was bland. No spices, not even enough basic salt and pepper were used in the hummus or on the chicken. It was a good amount of food, but not worth the $8.00 they were charging. I would have overlooked the strange ordering procedure and given this restaurant another chance if the food had been properly seasoned. Plus of course you don' t get attentive service, since they are just dropping off your food and may occasionally come by to ask if you need anything. Pros: nice decor Cons: very basic menu, bland food, non-attentive service, waiting in line to order more

Great value. 4/27/2008

This is not (as one reviewer says) the best restautrant in Raleigh (have you been to Fins?). This is a review of the North Raleigh location, but they also have three others. Beautiful, new facility with an adjoining market. Nice outdoor seating available. Our table in the bar/cantina area could have used a little more light as the menu (with some tiny print) was difficult to read. Our waiter was a bit nervous, but he managed. We were there to take advantage of a coupon we received for a $39.99 dinner: two salads, two entrees and a bottle of wine. This is a great choice if you're hankering for things middle eastern: hummus, taboulleh, falafel, baba ghanough, lamb, gyros, etc., but there are plenty of other non-eastern standards to satisfy more western tastes. The portions here are quite generous and none of us could clean our plates. I had the lamb sirloin, but there was something odd about this cut of meat: I think it was actually a leg which had been boned. This was not a steak. It was several small pieces of meat held together by fat and sinew, and it took some work to cut around it all. I've had a boned leg before and I'd bet $20 that this was not a sirloin cut. Still, it was tasty and the side of fresh veggies was amazing. We counted nine different vegetables in the accompanying medley. Nine! Very colorful. #1 had a swordfish special with an excellent mango salsa. #2 had cheese steak wrap which had him rolling his eyes with pleasure. Total bill was under $60 for all three (one non-drinker, tip and coupon included, no dessert). Can't beat the price. A very good value. Pros: price Cons: lighting more

This is by far the best restaurant in Raleigh. 4/26/2008

My husband took me for my birthday and I loved it. The salad has homemade pita croutons, and the main dish was packed full of flavor. All of the dishes are made from scratch and you can tell. The chef will even make something that is not on the menu if you ask, an if he has the ingrediants. The wait staff are extremely accomodating and go out of their way to make you feel like you are the only guest. The prices are also very reasonable. In my experience, this particular restaurant is as near to perfect as you can get. Pros: Food is yummy, price, wait staff is excellent Cons: absolutely none more

Love What They Have Done! 7/3/2007

Let me tell you, I have been eating a Solomon's now for quite some time now and ever since they moved into their new location the food and service has become even better than before! Not to mention they have a full bar now and what a bar it is. The dinning room is also unbelivable, leather chairs, murals from head to toe, you really feal like you have stepped into a different world. Lets just say i be going to Solomon's more than i already am, which is sometimes twice a day! more

Cuisine 7/3/2007

It would be nice if the cooks at Solomon's could think outside the box and create their own dishes. Or why not just copy other peoples dishes? The main menu is very consistant food but they need to come up with their own dishes and not take them from other restaurants. Pros: Parking Cons: Features more

great falafel 7/19/2005

I have been often since finding this restaurant- it is a welcome change to the boring salads & limited vegetable choices that lunch offers. Lunch is out very quickly and everything that we have had has been delicious! Their falafel is delicious! with a wonderful chickpea taste & enough flavoring and vegetables added to give it a fresh taste - a taste lacking in other falafel-offering locations in Raleigh. The salads are delicious too - with fresh green lettuce & vegetables that are diced to the perfect bite size. Paying before you eat at lunch helps speed things up nicely and is an appreciated thoughtful touch. Pros: prompt lunch, good parking, fresh food more

Great Food and Service! 1/29/2005

I eat lunch here about once a month. The food is always good, always tates fresh and the employees are always smiling and act happy to serve you. The cesaer salads with the fried pita bread slices instead of croutons are delicious as is the dressing. Try the chicken swarma, it has a generous amount of sliced chicken breast, an out of this world tahini sauce and sweet onions wrapped in some sort of flat bread. My daugher gets the kids chicken tenders and its large pieces of fresh white meat rolled in flour and fried. I don't know if it is fresh but it certainly tastes like it is and put the frozen chicken fingers served in chain restaurants to shame. Pros: Great Food, Good value, Good Service Cons: , none more

Family 11/26/2004

I recently enjoyed a visit with my mother and we went to Solomon's to dine for our first time. The hospitality at Solomon's was excellent. Our waitress, ""Chrys"" (I belive), was excellent. Not only did she do like most typical good waitresses and describe the food and tell what her favorite was, but she also took time to build a relationship with both my mother and I. Another gentleman (i'm assuming the owner) also made our aquaintance and was equally as friendly. At the same time neither of them forced themselves on us to prevent us from talking and/or eating. Pros: value, cuisine, atmosphere more

delicious, healthy and reasonably priced 7/20/2002

middle eastern food as well as sandwiches and seafood. Steamed veggies instead of fries are delicious. The presentation is artistic and you recieve personal attention from the family who operates the restaurant. Atmosphere is quiet and decor is pleasing although the lighting is somewhat dark. The chef personally visits each table to check on you. They also have a good childrens menu that they can color with crayons provided by Solomons. Pros: healthy food, fresh food, personal treatment Cons: restaurant is dark more
