Best Mexican restaurant in Atlanta?? Probably. We have tried over 20 others and Sol Y Luna comes out #1 11/19/2007

We ate at Sol Y Luna under the old management and it was good already then, we then tried tons of other Mexican places to find out if any of the others could beat Sol Y Luna in tasty foods, yummy margaritas, nice service and good prices. It is our favorite Mexian restaurant we will always come back to, even though we will keep on challenging it to find out if there is a better one in Atlanta. \r \r In short. A great restaurant in every way. Pros: Quality and taste of foods, great service and hard to beat prices Cons: A bit far from our house, but really it is worth the trip more

Great Margaritas, Friendliest Service 9/29/2007

Dining at Sol Y Luna is like being welcomed into the home of good friends for wonderful margaritas, yummy food, and a great place to sit outside and hang out. Get the pitchers of margaritas - you won't be disappointed. The vegetarian food is excellent, as are their lunch specials and daily specials, which often make for delightful treats. Get their Colombian food when you can! We find ourselves visiting often, always being treated as friends instead of mere customers by Carlos, Consuelo, and the whole staff. more

Not yo mama's mexican 9/6/2007

Owned by a friendly family of Columbians, Sol y Luna transforms the normal run of the mill Atlantan mexican dining experience (think microwaved combinations) into a explosion of alternative Latin creations and refreshing cocktails. My personal favorite is the chicken mole poblano (breast of chicken is marinated in a chocolate nut sauce, exotic and delicious), but I can confidently recommend the fish tacos, the fajitas, carnitas, and usually the daily specials. They have recently improved their patio by adding an array of flora, making a tropical getaway within Atlanta's perimeter a refreshing reality. I recommend this establishment for a romantic date night, a family dinner, or a night out with friends. Pros: Creative entrees, strong drinks, great patio more

Best Margaritas!!! 8/31/2007

Loved this place. I love hanging out on the huge nice patio and chill with some margaritas that by the way are off the chain. The restaurant has authentic tasting Mexican food, they have the best fish tacos and menu overall. The manager and staff are ultra friendly and always greet us with a big smile. Defenitly one of the best mexican restaurants I've ever visited. If you want to have a good time, good food and good service, this is the place to go. Pros: Great margaritas, great food, nice patio. more

Best Food, Best Service 7/21/2007

This restaurant is my favorite restaurant for cantina-style Latin American cuisine in Atlanta. The food is impeccable -- from the appetizers (the best empanadas I have EVER had) to the desserts (I recommend the house-recipe flan). But what makes Sol y Luna really special -- and what makes them stand out from other restaurants in the area -- is their commitment to service. After two trips, the staff already knew my name and took extra steps to make me feel welcome when I came back. Unlike other Latin American and Mexican restaurants in the area, Sol y Luna doesn't engage in the pretentious ""atmosphere"" games of the uber-chic -- they are committed to serving fantastic food at great prices with highly personable service. After searching the Highlands, Midtown, Decatur, and Buckhead for the best Latin American cuisine, it is safe to say that my quest ended at Sol y Luna! Pros: Parking Lot, Food, Service, Drinks... Service Cons: I wish it were open later! It closes at 10:30! more

Great New Management 6/9/2007

The new owners are fabulous but the young staff could do a bit better. Good food, nice location, and nice atmosphere. Go for the Tapas and Tequila! more

Might as well go to Publix and heat up your own frozen mexican food 5/24/2007

Do not go to this restaurant. The food is HORRIBLE. I ate there on 2 different occasions this year and regret both. I was convinced to go this time by a friend that told me they had were under new management. We were the only table on a busy lunch day - should have told us something - the chips were stale, food clearly microwaved from frozen, and was tastless or too salty.\r \r I have no complaints about the service. The waiter was gracious and prompt. \r \r This place is in a great location and could do really well if they tried. Pros: location Cons: everything more

Worst Experience EVER! RUDE OWNER! 4/17/2007

I brought my tennis team with me to Sol Y Luna after tennis practice one night because I had purchased a $25 gift certificate from restaurant com for Sol Y Luna. The ONLY reason we went was because we had the coupon. After waiting 20 minutes to even be acknowledged that we arrived, I showed the waitor the gift certificate and he motioned for the owner. The owner said that it wasn't valid. BUT it had SOL Y LUNA's name and logo on it. He said they would not honor the certificate. Since we were already there and there were 10 of us, we went ahead and ordered. We waited another 45 minutes to get our food. They forgot one of my friends dinners and had to wait another 15 minutes to get her food. And then the food was horrible and overpriced. As we were paying for our meal, I saw a magazine posted at the cashier's counter with coupons for buy one get one free entree's. You would think that if the owner wouldn't honor my gift certificate that I PAID FOR....he would have at least offered the coupons that he was currently HONORING. HOW RUDE....this place is on mine and all my friends BOYCOTT list! Pros: Coupons in the Savvy Shopper Cons: Rude Owner, Slow Service, won't honor Restaurant Gift Certificates more

Great Atmosphere 2/14/2007

I took my girl here for Valentine's Day and we both had a great time. The service was superb and the the waiter even shook our hands and thanked us for coming. The margaritas are great, no rum held back. Our dinner and menu selections were wonderful too. I would recommend this spot to bring your date or partner, especially on special occasions. Pros: Outstanding service; everyone treated fairly; food is great. Cons: Hardly any more

Be treated like family 2/13/2007

I have been to Sol y Luna several times since it opened and I love it. The food is delicious, from your standard Mexican combo plates to authentic traditional dishes like chicken mole poblano. The owners are the sweetest people and always make us feel like we are part of their family. They are more than happy to describe their cooking philosophy, which is eco-friendly and family-centric. Also, the different fruit flavored margaritas are the best ... especially the mango. They make them from real fruit, not just from syrup and you can taste how fresh it is. Pros: Warm service, amazing food, pretty decor, nice patio for summer Cons: Service is sometimes a little slow more

Best Margarita anywhere. Try the Passion Fruit 11/12/2006

Excellent combination of Latin Music and good food, loved the patio and the beer towers. Amazing spot in Decatur for a perfect night. Pros: Margarita, Music, Waiters, Excellent Service more
