Editorial review from Citysearch 2/7/2013

I couldn't agree more with all of the comments below! I haven't even lived here a year and already my roommate and I are absolutely miserable! The apartment building is awful, there's always something wrong from mice, to plumbing (we actually came home to feces in our BATHTUB!), you name it! The management company employees are all nasty and rude and the Super, Manny Rodrigues, is an A$$. He is useless and not helpful AT ALL! he actually had the nerve to ask me to leave work in the middle of the day to go home and turn my heat ""all the way on"" because there was a leak in the apartment downstairs. When i told him I couldn't leave work he actually got mad at me! He even hung up on me once! I guess he got mad because i asked him to do something, god forbid. I am out of here the minute my lease is up and will NEVER rent from them again. Do yourselves a favor, if you are considering renting from SG, DONT! more

Biggest scumbag management company in 5/31/2012

Biggest scumbag management company in the city. I wish I read these reviews before I rented. They never get back to you, enforce arbitrary policies, and have incredibly rude staff (even for NYC). I'll be surprised if there isn't a protracted struggle to retrieve my deposit. more

MISERABLE EXPERIENCE 4/23/2012

Like others on here, I dont write reviews but I felt the need to let others know what a horrible experience I have had with this company. I am a graduate student trying to take over a lease in one of the apartments they manage. They are the most unhelpful, inconsiderate A-holes I have ever spoke to in my entire life. They do not give you the lease bit of information to help with the process and when you do get something from someone, it usually isnt valid with what another person says you need to do. They are nasty and rude. I am shocked that they are still in business. I am beginning to think it isn't worth the fight with these scumbags. STAY AWAY! more

Management Company Horrible to Deal with 3/30/2012

I rented an apartment from this company for 2 years and every time I had to deal with them, which thankfully was not that often they were horrible and rude. The employees at my building were great, very nice and helpful, but the management company are just awful. more

Horrible management company 1/19/2012

Unbelievably unprofessional management office. Paying almost $5000 a month for a mouse-infested apartment with dripping sinks, a stove that is a fire hazard, and to walk in through a service entrance (they have been renovating the lobby - with no notice - for 4 months with no end in sight). There are mice running through the halls and climbing through the trash area (they won't pay for trash bins because they are so cheap). As mentioned in previous reviews, the management office never responds to messages and the voicemail is always full. The staff in the building is great but it is obvious that the management company is shodding and cutting corners anywhere they can. more

Stay Away 9/26/2011

i have lived in one of their proeprties for two (2) years. they are attractive and the people that work in th ebuilding are great. The management company is awful. They are TOTALLY disorganized and SO rude on the phone you want to throw up speaking with them. TOTAL JERKS starting with the operator all the way up/down. possibly the rudest people i have ever dealt with in business in my 40 years of life in NY in Finance. been all over the world, bought and sold homes in NY and west coast and rented in 5 diff location. these guys are the worst. more

I Hate Sol Goldman Investments / Solil Management 6/10/2011

This is a slum lord with a logo. The building is great and the neighborhood is even better, but this company conducts business in almost a criminal manner. I agree with almost every other comment here. Alan and Jane Goldman better enjoy themselves now because the after world may not be too kind on them. There should be a negative rating available for these douchebags, or maybe a guess as to which layer of hell they would rot in. more

Former 1007 2nd Ave Tenant 5/4/2011

These people are the biggest scumbags in the world. I am a former tenant of 1007 2nd which is a shithole, don’t ever live there. The apartments are a part of the restaurant downstairs, where the boiler is. We found out from the NYS Department of Health that the contractors wouldn’t touch the boiler to fix it because there were maggots in the basement, where they also prep food. The smell has made this building unlivable and they try to cover it up with air fresheners and sprays, instead of getting to the root of the problem. There’s always an issue with not having hot water or no heat and it doesn’t get fixed for several days, leaving you without the ability to take a shower. They won’t let you break your lease and every time you call the leasing department, there is some rude receptionist who hates her job. Like I’m inconveniencing her because I have a question about my apartment. \r \r There are 2 bars next door, so you will hear loud banging music until 4 AM pretty much every night and you’ll definitely deal with puke on your front steps. The exhaust is directly outside your windows so you can never open them up for fresh air without smelling cooked Chinese food. None of the apartments have new appliances and the bathroom and showers are disgustingly old. Sol Goldman Investments won’t upgrade or update anything. \r \r Lookup the building at the NYC Department of Buildings website and you’ll see all the violations. You can also go to NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and enter the building info to see complaints, violations and registration information. Instead of writing “2nd Avenue” write “second avenue” or “2 avenue” and you’ll see how shitty this building and the owners really are. \r \r Avoid these jew-faces at all costs; I’m doing you a favor by telling you not to live here, TRUST ME! They’re unresponsive and discourteous to all tenants. Sol Goldman Investments is the worst landlord in NYC.\r \r I wouldn't give Sol Goldman anystars if I could. more

very bad owners 1/13/2011

Careful with this company. They hire people to spy and do whatever it takes to get what they want. They are hungry for money and they do not care about people. more

Zero Stars 2/8/2010

I don't know how these people sleep at night. They should be embarrassed for the way they conduct their business. I can't believe I have to pay them rent each month when they haven't made a single repair to my apt like they said they would 8 months ago. No one calls you back and their voicemail system is full. They are the most selfish people on the face of this planet. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Cons: Everything more

Very poor management 11/9/2009

I agree with the other reviewers. This management company is impossible to deal with. They don't answer the phone, they don't call you back, they don't have any sort of semblance of a professional business. I suggest staying away 100%. I don't care how amazing the apartment is your are looking at, the hassle down the road isn't worth it. Pros: None. Cons: Employees, building conditions, etc... more

Sleazebag Central 8/6/2009

I don't normally write reviews either, in fact i created an account just to go off on these guys. They have some awesome buildings but they treat their potential tenants like dirt. The leasing office people make a game out of hanging up on you, being nasty, etc. I think the family is fighting over money since the founder died, so the lunatics are running the asylum. They have some great buildings but be prepared for a battle with the losers who run the place day-to-day. Ultimately it may be worth it though because once you're in you can just ignore them. Pros: Nice Buildings Cons: high-end slumlords more

Rude beyond belief -- just awful 12/31/2008

I had a very unpleasant experience with this management company and I know other tenants who experienced the same. The company makes it difficult to gain access to their building to sign the lease. The lease was wrong when I went in to sign it. The staff won't come out to talk to you -- they just have you sit outside in a waiting area with the secretary (who is also rude) in front of two locked doors. If you have a problem, it is next to impossible to get a live person on the phone and, the icing on the cake, the voice mailbox is always full so you can't leave a message. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away as possible. Pros: Apt. is OK Cons: management company. more

Most miserable ""people"" working there 10/7/2008

I never write reviews but i felt the need. If you find yourself in a residency owned by SOL GOLDMAN LLC, be sure to do anything in your power to avoid and NEVER come in contact with ANYONE on staff and/or reception. They are the most miserable, RUDE and unprofessional group of individuals I have ever had the ill luck of coming in contact with in my entire life. Pros: I love my apartment Cons: Disgusting staff that I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to come in contact with more
