Excellent garden shop! 8/18/2005

I've been going to Sloat Garden Center for years, and continue to be pleased with their huge selection of QUALITY plants. Their staff is knowledgeable--they're not just sales people, they know their stuff!--and the variety is amazing. Sloat Garden Center's people have a complete knowledge of gardening which is useful when planning a detailed garden or a change in landscaping styles. You cannot get that type of personalized service from the 'box' stores! more

My favorite garden place! 8/17/2005

I don't have my own backyard, but we do have a huge window for growing our own herbs. So when I went here to get started, the nice man helped me buy the best pottery and herbs for beginners. My basil and oregano, parsely are growing like champions. Everytime I go in, he tells me to buy certain flowers if I feel like getting some new ones, or a new pot for my (struggling in the winter) parsley. They really will help you if you want specific designs for your garden, and have a lot of good input on seasonal flowers, greenery, etc. They are experts in everyway! more

green thumbs 8/13/2005

When I don't want to deal Home Depot or Lowe's for my gardening needs, this place is perfect. It's got a good selection for your green thumbs, or not-so-green thumbs. And there's plenty of parking in the neighborhood. I think the price is a slight bit higher than Home Depot or Lowe's. more

great place for your gardening needs. 8/12/2005

you can find soil, plants, flowers, rocks, shovels, and many many other utensils from sloar. although you might need to double park in order to go inside and buy a bunch of items, it is well worth it. the pricing is very reasonable and their employees have great customer serivice. i enjoyed my stay there and i hope you will too! four out of five stars, mate. more

All You Need For Your Foggy Yard 8/10/2005

I am blessed to have a gigantic backyard. I live right at the beach though, so fog is an issue. One year I tried to grow a Meyer Lemon tree which would have been fine - if I lived in the Mission. In my micro climate in the city it is regularly chilly and foggy. Plants have to be hearty. The folks at Sloat understand this, they are located at the beach as well. Helpful and informative, they can steer you towards the right plants for your space in your neighborhood. I never seem to catch a sale, however, prices are very affordable and the location is so convenient. Thanks to there advice I have had beautiful cala lilies this season. Check it out. more

I have one word: beautiful. This place has the most beautiful plants and flowers. They keep this place well rounded. The store is huge and there is tons of stuff to buy. The prices are fairly reasonable. The service here is really good. They will help you when you need it. I always recommend this place to friends and family. more
