MY CHILD WAS AT THIS CETNER BUT WE LEFT BECAUSE THE OWNER WOULD NOT LISTEN TO ME ABOUT CONCERNS I HAD ABOUT SOME OF THE TEACHERS AT THIS CENTER. Every time I tried to talk to her she said she was busy and did not have time to speak with me. I called over 5 times and left messages for her but she never returned my calls. I spoke to some other parents at a birthday party and they expressed similar concerns with the owner. more

My daughter was at this center but we recently left. Some of the teachers would occasionally baby sit for us and they would tell us a lot of stories. They made it seem like alot of the teachers were not very happy working at this center. Even though there are some good teachers at this center, we felt that most of them were not very good and this is the main reason why we left and went to another center. more

Hello, My name is Tara Rogers and I am the Otis Street Center Director and Co-Owner of Skribbles Learning Center. My sister, Julie and I take pride in both of our schools and employ the best staff available. In fact, 75% of our staff have been working with us for 5 years or longer, some even 9 years!! The staff have since become part of our extended family. There are, however, the other 25% of staff that do not work out and employment is terminated for one reason or another. The reviews that have such negative impact on our schools are attributed to hostile former employees, I assure you. It?s sad that folks don?t have better things to do with their time. Due to this, I will not remark on each comment since it is not relevant to our school, and rather fabricated stories. If you would like to learn more about Skribbles, the best thing to do is come out and meet us for yourselves. Typically, families that enroll with us stay with us until they move on to grade school. We have several families with multiple children enrolled with us and many of our classrooms continue to have waiting lists. I am writing today, not to drum up business, but to ensure that the great reputation that Julie and I strived so hard to keep up, does not get harmed by those with no involvement to the school. Skribbles has been in operation since 1990 when I graduated high school and has always become a good name when looking for quality child care for children. I read the review about one of there teachers (Miss Bette). My son was in her class last year. We thought she was nice but felt that she did not run an educational program and that was what what we were looking for. We asked one of the teachers who baby sits for us about our concerns about her class and she told us that Miss Better has no formal education in this field. We felt that our experience was more like day care (baby sitting) and not early childhood education. I know some other families that feel the same way as I do. more

I wish I could say that we enjoyed our experience with this center. unfortunitely the teachers here at this center would constantly tell me that the owner was never around and I think this is what helps create such an unprofessional teacher environment. The teachers that I talked to did not seem very happy to be working here. I wanted my child in a more positive child care center environment. This is why we left this center. more

Skribbles has 2 locations in Northborough, Otis Street and Main Street. All 3 of our kids have gone to both at one time or another over the past 5 years, 3 years for the oldest, 5 for the second, and the youngest is starting the second year. So, we've seen a lot. It's well run and the staff cares for the kids very much. The core teachers such as Miss Bette, Miss Brenda, and Miss Colleen are great and have been there for years. Over on Otis Street, Miss Rosa in the best infant teacher you'll find anywhere, and Miss Ashley is great too. We don't know all of the teachers, and many of the others are good too, I'm just noting the exceptional ones. Like any daycare business, teachers come and go sometimes, it's a difficult group to maintain consistency (young women 20's and 30's get married, have kids, change careers, etc.). Tara, the owner, has a way of finding and training good talent. So good, in fact, that sometimes they leave and enjoy success in childcare elsewhere. Someone mentioned inconsistent closing in winter. The goal is to follow the closing policy of Northborough public, which had inconsistency this past winter, which was very difficult in terms of snow days. The facilities are clean and the staff is good. It's too bad a few people here had some bad experiences. I'd guess they are exceptions. It wouldn't surprise me that if anyone on the staff was a problem that they would be let go sooner or later. more

A co-worker told me about this center. I had high hopes about this center. It looked new and nice but I became very dissapointed soon after I enrolled my child. The teachers seemed very unprofessional. When I was at the center, the teacher in my daughter's classroom did not seem very interested in my children. I am happy that I left. more

My Kids went to Skribbles from 2005 - 2007. It was their first experience at daycare, and they had a rough time at first being away from home/mommy but the staff at Skribbles did such a fantastic job getting the kids used to the new routine and new people, that soon they wanted to go to school more than be at home. Tara and her staff are awesome! I was very sad when it was time for my kids to leave (they left only because it was time to enter elementary school). I still keep in touch with many of the families and teachers from Skribbles and still consider then friends/family. You won't find another place where the staff care so much about your kids and family than at Skribbles! I highly recommend them! more

Lots of teacher drama. I currently work here but I am looking to leave. I don't think the director does a very good job and teachers don't get along with one another. I am happy to be leaving this place. more

I knew someone who use to work at this center, she told me that all the teachers do all day is talk behind each others backs instead of paying attention to the children. She said that she left because of all the teacher drama and high turnover and hated working here. more

The staff there just don't care for the kids. The teachers and aids will just stand in one corner and chit chat while kids play by themselves or run around with runny noses. They don't clean the kids faces or hands. My child so many times comes home with other kids diapers on. There is no attention to detail. My kid comes back with scrapes and cuts- they never inform us at picking up time. We are desperately looking at other daycares to move to. more

My son went to Skribbles for about 3 years and we were very happy there. The teachers were well trained, caring, and truly seemed to enjoy working with kids. Other reviews said the director was unfriendly, we thought she was wonderful! The facility is new and always clean. Yes, the classrooms are small, but the classes are small too. The rooms never seemed overcrowded. The playground isn't huge but the kids always looked like they were having fun. They have bikes and a kid sized basketball hoop that my son liked. When you walk into the center, the kids and teachers look happy and engaged. The atmosphere is very positive. more

I searched around several preschools in the Northborough/western Marlboro/Berlin area and was pleased right away finding this one -- the only one that was new & fresh & bright. Very clean classrms, friendly staff, great extended hours to accommodate work schedules. Good value on an hour by hour comparison of rates. Does have an indoor gym area for rainy/snowy days and a cute outdoor area to play in that was bigger than several other preschools I saw plus it had all new equipment. Staff always meticulous to tell me if my child even scraped herself (all kids do here or there) but that has rarely happened. Nice classmates & parents too. It's further away for us than several preschools but we drive the extra because we -- and most importantly our daughter -- likes it. Pros: New, clean, nice classrms & staff, great extended hours Cons: Not heavy on academics - but is it really nec. @ preschool? more

I went to visit but I did not sign up. The classrooms were new but they were very small. The outside play space is very small. I could not image my child being forced to play outside there. I ended up going to a center with much better things to offer. Pros: new Cons: very small outside play space. more

I was at this center for almost 3 months. I left because I was not happy with my child's teacher. When I expressed my concerns to the owner, she was not very understanding and did not want to listen to my concerns. I think the school is new and looks nice, but it does not offer services like other centers in the area. I wish I had gone to visit other centers in the area before choosiing this center. I was at this center for 2 months. It was the only center I looked at. I thought it was going to be nice because it was new and modern. I wish I had looked at other centers before signing up. The center is new and modern, but it does not offer alot of the services that other centers in the area offer. The play ground and classrooms are small and we have to bring our own lunch. There is no large indoor space for the children to run around. I have recently gone to another center in the area. I am much happier. I went to visit the center. I noticed that the children have access to rough stone walls in their play ground. I think this could cause a safey issue. I also noticed that the electric meters are also in the play ground area. The play ground was small, there was not very much room for the children to run around. Pros: New Building Cons: Play ground and classrooms are small. more

My two children were at this school for about one year. I first signed up because of the new facility and that it was small. I left the center, because I was not very happy with the quality of the teachers. The play ground is also very small and the classrooms are not very spacious.
