Best

Really nice time at Sinbads. Ate outside on the patio. Nice being on the water, no place in San Fran that has the ocean views like Sinbads. So relaxing, can't go wrong.

Worst

My friends and I tried this place last weekend and we will never ever go back! Sindbad's has to be the WORST seafood restaurant in the city. The service was terrible - this holds ...

Great place for a drink 3/10/2010

This is a great place for a drink or two. I enjoyed the view of the bay from the bar while sipping my drink. Nice to hang out here with friends. more

Great Valentine! 2/15/2010

My date and I had a great valentine's day celebration at Sinbad's. It was a romantic evening of wine and great food. The primerib was excellent, juicy and tasty, service was good and the ambiance was just perfect. more

Nice view! 2/13/2010

What a view! The scenic bay gives the irresistible charm to this restaurant. more

For a change! 2/13/2010

I have a very discriminating taste. Generally, I only like Mexican food and I am not very adventurous on food choice. But I like Sinbad's chicken piccata and clam pasta, they suit the taste that I always look for, everytime I try new foods. The restaurant is a bit pricey, though. more

romantic dinner 2/13/2010

What seemed to be an ordinary evening turned out to be a very memorable and romantic dinner. One night on our way home,my girlfriend and I tried this restaurant near the ferry building. To our surprise, contrary to how it looked outside, the inside of the restaurant was very charming with a great view of the bay and the lighted baybridge. Their halibut and snapper tasted good, too. We were both happy we tried Sinbad's and ended having a romantic dinner. more

Good food, good time 2/13/2010

My friends and I had a good time in this restaurant. The place looks old and shabby, but they have a good selection of seafoods. Their seafood pasta was delicious, filled with shrimps, scallops, clams and mussels in spicy red sauce. We also liked their captain seafood combination in white creamy sauce and grilled snapper. With a glass of chardonnay, everything just tasted perfectly. more

I love their clam chowder! 2/13/2010

Everytime I am in the bay area especially on a cold day, I always long for hot clam chowder. I have never tasted clam chowder as good as Sinbad's. They have the best chowder, filled with fresh clams and a real creamy taste. At a price of $6.50, it is so worth it. more

Great food, view and service 10/20/2009

I am from out of town and was visiting family when we came across Sinbad's. It was the best seafood I have ever eaten. I got their fish and chips and my husband got crab, they were both delicious. The view was amazing and we felt very cozy and had a romantic table. Our waiter was excellent and fast. Pros: Had terrific food and a wonderful view! more

enchanting view! 10/16/2009

I can only say how excellent their seafoods are and how enchanting the view of the bay is. My boyfriend and I were fortunate enough to get a nice window table where we can see clearly the lighted bay bridge and the tranquil bay.. beautiful and romantic. Pros: excellent food, enchanting view Cons: vintage looking building more

great food!! 10/16/2009

I can't forget how tasty the following dishes at Sinbad's were: 1. Halibut Champignon - the fish was so fresh and the small shrimps over it were fesh and delicious. The sauce with capers brought the combination to a perfect taste; 2. Seafood Pasta- with a generous serving of shrimps, mussels, fish, clams and squid, all fresh and perfectly cooked; and 3. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream- tell the waiter to heat the cake so it will blend with the ice cream... let it melt a bit. Warm cake with cold melted icecream.. Heaven! more

Great - Old School Seafood restaurant 8/30/2009

After discovering my first breakfast place choice did not open until 11:30, I made my way to Sinbad's on Pier 2. They were open for lunch at 11am! I may have been the only one there at first but they placed me right in front of the window with that beautiful view! I splurged on the seafood omelet ($17) - so delicious it would make Julia Child proud - buttery, creamy and crammed with shrimp, scallops and oysters! And the Bloody Mary was terrific -- a meal on its own! The meal made up for the lousy morning I was having before I got there! Pros: Best omelet ever even for the price! more

old-fashioned with a taste 8/5/2009

I like Sinbad's for its old- fashioned style. If you just want a fine and quiet dining experience of good food and gorgeous view, this is the place. It is old-fashioned yet with a taste. Be sure to get a table by the window and leave room for dessert and coffee. It is nice sipping coffee while enjoying the view. And dont forget to bring a friend to add to to the nice experience. more

Nice place to go after the baseball game 8/5/2009

Great View and also a pretty good crab salad. Pros: Great View more

Very Disappointed 7/25/2009

While the location is quite lovely, my boyfriend and I dined upon what was clearly previously frozen lobster and crab. The dungeness crab cocktail was soggy and bland and the rock lobster I ordered did not taste fresh at all. Maybe I've been spoiled on the stuff in New England but I can tell bad seafood from the good stuff. I could forgive this (while still choosing to not eat there again) if the bill did not come to over $100 for the two of us. And we didn't order any drinks. There is fresh, live Maine lobster to be had further down the pier. It's worth the walk, guys. Pros: Good views of the bay and bay bridge Cons: Poor seafood quality more

All the Best! 6/2/2009

Ive always been looking forward to dine in a fine restaurant with someone special. One of those restaurants, me and my girlfriend appreciated the most was Sinbad's. We had a nice, quiet and fine dining experience at Sinbad's. Their pinot grigio with shrimp cocktail was an excellent combination. For our main entree, we ordered seafood pasta and london broil- much to our content, they were the best! Of course, the main feature was the great view of the bay.. My date said, she wanted to go back again at Sinbad's.. more

GREAT EVERYTHING 5/25/2009

The best crab cakes I might have ever eaten...not fishy, mostly crab, perfect! Table by the window was excellent...the key is getting there early. Service was very attentive...and friendly. Excellent meal for me and my husband who had the petrale sole. Pros: crab cakes Cons: parking, but this is SF more

Excellent seafood dishes that match the excellent view! I never grow tired of eating at Sinbad's, they have the best salmon florentine and grilled snapper. I really enjoy the food and the nice view of the bay.. Pros: best seafood more

Dr. Chad Willoughby recommends "Sinbad's". 5/12/2009

Hello friend. I am a vascular surgeon often performing surgery in the bay area. Whenever my job calls me to Oakland I always take time to dine at "Sinbad's". When you eat at this fine restaurant, I guarantee that you will be afforded the best view, the best service and the best food. The seafood at Sinbad's is fresh, the salad's are crisp and the filet mignon is succulent. May I also recommend the Lobster thermidore, captain seafood cocktail, prawn cocktail and grilled halibut champignon. Please stop by and see my friends at sinbad's. You'll be very glad that you did. Pros: The best view. The best service. The best food. Cons: None. This restaurant is absolutley perfect. more

Editorial
  • In Short
Snuggled next to the sleek Ferry Plaza, this decidedly old-school San Francisco institution has been entertaining locals and tourists alike for almost three decades. Cozy up in a blue leather booth and take in the view while waiting for classic fare like a crab cake appetizer, salmon Florentine or fresh clam linguine. Or skip the surf and go straight for the turf: filet mignon. Fresh salads and rich desserts round out the menu.
