A beautiful meal 2/19/2009

An absolutly delicious meal was served to myself and my husband. The food was prepared just as we requested and brought to us by the most customer friendly staff that we have ever been served by. It's true about the wine list just delightful. Too bad it's not kid friendly because our son had to miss out on the experience besides that we will always dine at shula's.\r \r \r more

worst service ever ! good meat presented in a bad way. 11/15/2007

nevermind the price, our experience was not great. No doubt the meat was very good, but they brought the steak cold and undercooked for me. The service was terrible, our server didn't want to bother with the famous trolly presentation, and when we asked for creamed spinach he said the steamed is healthier for you !!\r Schula's other branches maybe better, but this one was definetely NOT worth the money.\r I payed twice the money in Ruth Chris's in Toronto, and THAT was worth it, I would go there every weekend if I could afford it. Pros: good meat and sides, bread perfect, free parking Cons: service terrible, steak cold, boring atmosphere more

Exceptional Service and Great food 3/12/2007

Our party was particularly impressed with the excellent, accomodating staff at Shula's Steak House. In the immediate vicinity, there are four steak houses that are often referred to as ""world class"". I have dined at all three of them, and the dinner service at Shula's was clearly superior. We returned to the restaurant for breakfast and found the service to be even better. Absolutely outstanding restaurant service! Pros: ambiance, service, & food more

Great Food! 7/8/2006

Shulahs has very large portions and nice service. The wine list is fantastic and offers many choices. Pros: The bread was good. Cons: Nope! more

Fabulous food! 6/17/2006

Shula's is wonderful! It is rather pricy, but it's worth it! As I was reading the other reviews, I was taken aback by people whining about having to buy side dishes a la carte. First of all, have you seen the portions? They are intended for two people. When you split a $6 side with someone, it's very affordable. Second, if you're going to complain about a restaurant, at least spell the name of the restaurant correctly. Third, if you want an affordable steak that has sides that come with it, then you should go to Outback Steakhouse. The atmosphere at Shula's is very nice, the service is great, and the food makes me want more even after I've just finished. Shula's makes for a wonderful evening out! Pros: Very generous portions, service is great, valet is complimentary Cons: If you don't want to spend the money, then don't go to Shula's! (But it's worth it!) more

Food was great but way too much $$$ 2/26/2006

I thought the food was great (except the bacon wrapped bbq shrimp appetizer, it was tough and over cooked). The quantities such as the twice baked potato were huge. Just about any meal could be split by two people. The potatoes were $7.00, salad 7.50, side of asparague 7.95, add a steak, a bottle of wine and a dessert and you'll be spending over $200.00 for dinner for two. That's just a little much. It just wasn't worth the price unless you are going for an anniversary or birthday celebration or if the boss is paying. The atmosphere was nice and the service was excellent but there are other places just as nice that are more economical. Pros: Excellent food, Excellent service, Nice atmosphere Cons: Menu is ala carte, Way too expensive more

way overrated 6/26/2005

This restaurant is way over-rated. The fodd is average at best, the ambience is non-existent. it is VERY expensive for the product. Pros: easy to get a seat Cons: pricey, food is too big, ambience is zero more

Let's be serious.... 6/5/2005

Like the other reviewers I was happy with the cuts of meat, although they were a tad steep - perhaps I am spoiled by the fact that I can get an equally as good steak from Costco. They do have excellent service, although I was shocked to find that after ordering a $30+ steak I had to BUY a separate side for $6-$7 on top of that. Seriuously, it's a salad or a potatoe, not an extravagant item which is unique to Schula's. If less pretentious steak-houses give their customers side-dishes, why can't Schulas? This issue, although some may find petty, is enough for me to consider other establishments for a good steak. I may not be hoity-toity but I'm not cheap either. You get what you pay for, 100%, but I sure as heck didn't get my money's worth with my $7 potatoe! Pros: Good cuts of meat, Friendly wait-staff, Nice atmosphere Cons: ZERO sides included, Somewhat steep prices, Empty wallet more

Undefeated! 1/13/2003

Great sports decor, great service and a porterhouse other steakhouses dream about. Somewhat overdone, with your name on the wall if you can eat the whole super sized steak( I think it was a 64 oz. porterhouse) but, hey, it's Don Shula's for crying out loud, not Fifi Lamour's. Besides that, it's damned good steak! Pros: football action, steaks more

Not too shabby 10/28/2002

Not a bad steakhouse. It does not top Morton's, but a fine business dinner place with a nice wine selection. Steaks are decent and the food is fresh. Nice interior that is a bit less chaotic than its upscale rivals. Hotel setting is somewhat questionable, though. Pros: Food, Wine, Spacious Cons: Price, Better comptetitors, Hotel location more

Another Shula Winning Team 10/12/2002

Upscale and expensive, but what a wonderful place to dine. Great steaks--My favorite is the Prime Rib, but I can be talked into the Filet mignon rather easily. Great bar, and a great wait staff that is efficient but unobtrusive. Coach Shula created another winning team in this location. Pros: Great steaks, The bar, The ambience more

Spend your dough on Big Beaver? 8/7/2002

I did...and a lot of it. Big disappointment. For starters, us ""Downriver Rats"" were shoved into a back room to dine so no one could see us. Excuse us for not shopping on Rodeo Drive. The waiter pushes around a cart which has various cuts of meat as well as a live lobster on it. Personally, I don't like the idea of ""getting to know"" my lobster before it's dropped into boiling water. I ordered the cheapest cut of beef, which was $35. Everything is sold A La Carte. My steak was unseasoned (yuk) and slighty overcooked. Am I being too picky? I don't think so. For what my entire meal cost, I was expecting someone to feed and burp me. Baked potato? I think that was $6. I also ordered steamed broccoli...it was delicious, but not at all worth the $6 price tag. Okay service, overpriced food. Cons: Too expensive, Food below average, Poor parking more

The chop house's elegance is indisputable, yet there is an oddly casual spirit to a place in which the menu is written on a football and set at your table on a kicking tee....
