I use to work for Kleins and it was a great place to work.I was a dept. manager and I know the Kleins take pride in having the freshes products they can get. They demanded good customer sevice because they know thats what will bring repeat customers.I think the prices are very competived.I was working there when Kleins joined the Shoprite family and I saw how they worked to get lower prices for their customers. Andy Klein works very hard to make sure he gets the freshes produce at a good price . I don't there any more because I moved out of state. But that was the best job I have ever had.And if you think their prices are high you need to shop on the west coast,I miss shopping at Kleins because of their great prices. And one thing I liked about the Kleins is they support the local farmers. Big grocery chains don't do that ,they may say it is local but is it. I can say I saw local farmers deliver their product to Kleins all the time when in season. The people I worked with at Kleins were great people and I miss them all the time.I worked in four different stores and I must say they have some really great customers. And a lot of hard working employees. Yes there may be that one employee that is not good with customer service but they won't last long at Kleins.Thank you Kleins family for allowing me to be apart of your Kleins Shoprite family it was a good 5 years. more

Convenient 2/28/2012

I shop here often because it is convenient. Most of the time I am happy with their food but sometimes their food is expired. You really need to check the dates. Sometimes there are no dates! I just recently bought some fresh pineapple that was still fresh according to the expiration date, but it was fermenting. YUCK! Their produce can be good one week and then bad the next week. Most of the cashiers are professional and friendly, especially the more mature cashiers. Months ago, one young cashier told me to shop elsewhere and that Klein's Shoprite was too expensive. I could not believe it! Very unprofessional! Once in a while, you get a young cashier that is more interested in talking with the bagger or other cashier, than talking to the customer. Pretty rude! The deli food is good. Love their shrimp salad and Boar's Head meats. Flowers are always beautiful. Customer service and pharmacy staff are great. Seafood dept is very helpful. Overall, it is a pretty good store... not the best produce. more

ABSOLUTELY ** FIRST-RATE ** - NOW EVEN BETTER !!! 6/13/2009

THIS SUPERB LITTLE CHAIN HAS BEEN IN THE BEL AIR AREA FOR A VERY LONG TIME. IT IS FAMILY-RUN AND THE KLEIN'S HAVE RUN THIS CHAIN OF COUNTRY MARKETS SUPERBLY. THE QUALITY, SELECTION, FRESHNESS, AND PRICING ARE EXCELLENT. THE STORES ARE MODERN BUT HAVE A COMFORTABLE HOMEY FEEL. THE STAFF IS ABSOLUTELY FIRST-RATE AND WILL SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS FOR YOU AND HELP YOU LOCATE STUFF IN THE STORE, BRING GROCERIES OUT TO YOUR CAR, AND I HAVE **NEVER** IN 15 YEARS OF SHOPPPING THERE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. THEY JUST JOINED THE SHOPRITE BUYING CONSORTIUM WHICH MEANS THAT THE OWNERS ARE STILL THE KLEIN'S FAMILY, YET THEY HAVE SHOPRITE BRAND PRODUCTS WHICH I HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH, AND THEY BRING IN A LOT OF PRODUCTS FROM THE NORTHEAST MARKETS, ITEMS THAT I HAVE ONLY SEEN IN THE NEW YORK METRO AREA. THIS IS JUST FANTASTIC! IT'S ALMOST LIKE HAVING A NICE FAMILY-RUN LOCAL COUNTRY STORE WITH THE SELECTION OF A BIG-CITY MEGAMARKET. I GIVE THIS STORE MY HIGHEST RATING: 5 STARS AND A+. GIVE 'EM A TRY! THEY ARE OUTSTANDING !!!!! Pros: GREAT SELECTION, QUALITY, PRICES, ATMOSPHERE, GREAT STAFF!!! Cons: IT'S SO GOOD I SPEND HOURS IN THERE SHOPPING!! LOL !! more

Formerly Good Store ""Gone Bad"" 6/8/2009

Well, to get directly to the point, I will NEVER shop there again, nor at any other Klein's Shoprite. So far their customer service department has been about the worst I have ever experienced. To put the icing on the cake, yesterday they refused to honor the coupons recently sent me from the Shoprite corporate office. This Klein's used to be a good store, but their transition to Klein's Shoprite in my opinion has been very poorly done -- it's been chaos. First, there were no major announcements or signage in the store announcing the transition. Second, there has been an absolute mess with the pricing. For instance, they did not make it clear that the ""2-fer"" policy now means you MUST buy two to get the sale price. Also, shelf tags are applied haphazardly and are often in the wrong place, so that it now takes twice as long to figure out what the item price is, and whether or not it is on sale. Finally, and most upsetting: the staff in their customer service department, especially the young woman I dealt with yesterday has a very ""devil-may-care"" attitude towards customers. This young lady would rather be chatting with employees that are on their lunch break rather doing anything that even resembles doing her job. There have been several other bad encounters with her in the past, problems with scanner inaccuracies, etc.. that she just blew off, but yesterday she exceeded the limits of my endurance when she refused to honor the coupons that corporate sent me. When I told her that the coupons were from the head office and that I had just received them that very day, she just shrugged her shoulders and stared at me, as if waiting for me to leave. Well, she got her wish. I left the coupons on the counter and walked straight out of the store vowing NEVER to walk into another Klein's Shoprite again. I was treated so impolitely that I will remember this jarring incident for a very very long time. I don't care if there is a Klein's Shoprite right in my neighborhood (as this one is), or even right next door, I will make it a point to shop elsewhere. I don't care if Klein's Shoprite has the best prices in town, I will make it a point to travel whatever distance is necessary to go buy elsewhere AND NOT GIVE KLEIN'S SHOPRITE A CENT OF MY MONEY EVER AGAIN. I don't have any reservations about shopping at Shoprite stores in other states, I remember my family shopping at Shoprite stores often when I was a child growing up in New York, and my aunts and uncles in Connecticut always shopped at Shoprite stores too. Let me make this perfectly clear: I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH SHOPRITE. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ""KLEIN'S SHOPRITE"". I would have overlooked the chaos of the transition, but bad customer service is inexcusable. All it takes is a little effort and a genuine desire to help a customer, which this young lady had none of. Well, lucky for me, the local Giant although a little further away than Klein's has been nothing but great for me. Klein's management should take notes about what the Forest Hill Giant is doing right: great prices AND great customer service. In closing I just want to note again that the Shoprite corporate office customer service department has been very helpful and really first rate. It's a shame that the Klein's people down here are fumbling the ball and in my experience, making a mess of the Shoprite name. I don't know about the other Klein's Shoprite locations but they most definitely are making some major errors at the Main St Bel Air store, and to continue the football analogy, their customers are yelling ""foul"". But, this customer ain't playin' their game no more. Adios Klein's Shoprite! Pros: Not Any More Cons: Horrible Customer Service, Mis-pricing, Chaos more
