Dr. Clipsham is absolutely AMAZING!!! He is everything you could ask for in a vet, and is the only reason I rate Sherman Oaks Vet with a 5. I have provided detailed information f...

This office was recommended to me and for minor things they seemed competent, although I go at all times of the day and they are ALWAYS way too crowded and busy. \r \r It seems...

Be very careful less that one star needed 4/8/2008

I had bad experiences here. with Dr McCray After looking online, I found out that she has had her licsense sanctioned by the veterinary board of examiners in Sacramento! more

Shame on her!! 4/8/2008

I trusted these people to care for my baby when she was very sick after several expensive visits with Dr mcCray. Dr McCray only gave me only one choice for thousands of dollars and was neither compassionate or caring about my concern for my pet or my questions. At least she could have dressed up for the part by wearing something clean and not having wet hair like she rushed out of the shower to take my money. I left and found a wonderfol vet around the corner. more

After 5+ years as a client... 1/18/2008

On my last visit to this place I was picking up a med for my dog that she has been on for about ten years...the Med is always expensive @ $96 a bottle monthly, but the last time I went to get it, they told me the price was increased to $180... Almost double! I checked online and the medication is still the same price EVERYWHERE else. T more

Bad Advice 1/5/2008

Our dog was having some issues with her hind legs and we took him to this place because our regular vet didn't have any appt times. After an examination, the vet ordered two injections, urine analysis, bloodwork, some anti-infammatory pills and some glucosimine condroitin pills. Total bill was $475, which seemed high, but I paid it. It turns out the 90 glucosimine pills they sold me for $76 are sold in 120 pill bottles online (the exact same product mind you) for $32. So I was feeling a little ripped off at that point, but I can live with it and will obviously buy the pills online from now on because they seem to be helping. What really got me upset is when Dr. McCray (the vet that we saw), called and said that after looking at the urine analysis there was something in the dog's urine and so she asked what we were feeding our dog. When I told her it was Innova Adult (and that we gave him a lot of VitaBones from Ralphs) she said "Innova's not working for you, you need to switch to more

Meh 1/3/2008

I gave it a try on 3 seperate occasions and in all 3 times my dog was needlessly "tested", and vaccinated. The prices are a bit steep at 50.00 for an office visit. I'm not sure these guys/gals are what they're cracked up to be. Horribly busy at all hours. I'm looking for another vet. Any help? Pros: Acupuntcure for dogs? Cons: Not that great. more

STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!! - should be less than one star 10/29/2007

What a god-awful place. From the ignorant, unprofessional, rude and uncaring front office staff to the doctors who care mostly about the fees they're generating, this place is one of the last vet practices I'd take a pet I love.\r \r Dr. Ullman is decent and Dr. Clipsham is great and went above and beyond for my girl who was very sick but they are mere employees and have little power to change anything there. \r \r Dr. Scanlan is one of the worst. When I was a new patient there and didn't know she didn't give a crap, I wrote to her about a couple of really bad experiences I had with the front office staff. She never contacted me, never spoke to me when I went back (to see another doctor) and would not make eye contact with me. I know she got my letter because I saw it in my file. A few months ago, I found out she was cited for negligence in 2006 by the California Veterinary Medical Board. more

not impressed 10/5/2007

This may not be the place for caring parents of pets. The waiting room is full of barking dogs jumping all over and the wait to get seen was nearly an hour. The doctor could have tried to at least to act a little more profesionol. before asking for a huge bill to see what was wrong with my dog. The hospital also smelled a little like urine, too. more

THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED 7/22/2007

DO NOT bring your animals here. My cat had cancer. There wasn't anything to be done, but they insisted he stay for tests, etc. They had him for a week and they insisted I not check on him. He appeared fine when I brought him in, but after getting fuzzy reasons why he should be there, I picked him up. After telling me that he was doing 'great' I was shocked at his health. He was so bad off I had to put him to sleep immediately. Why didn't they tell me?\r \r My aunt brought her dog there after being sick. They insisted she needed to say and after two weeks they still hadn't really come up with a diagnosis or why she should be there. My aunt, on her own, took her dog to a specialist and the specialist did an ultrasound. He could see right away cancer. Now, why didn't this place do that or mention it should be done? They are just racking up the bills at the expense of the health of your animal. One of the last times I was there, a doctor there admitted it. He was leaving. He s more

EXPENSIVE & ARROGANT!!! 7/20/2007

After bringing my dog in for an abscess (an office visit and a blood test that cost $250), I was given an estimate of $550 for a surgery she needed. When I picked her up after her surgery, I was presented with a bill for almost $900 and was then told she would probably need additional surgery. When I questioned the bill I was infuriated with the nickle and dime add on's that drove the bill to a ridiculous amount. I was then smuggly told "someone's got to pay to keep the lights on and for our glorious staff. (A verbatim quote)\r My suggestion, go to Studio City Vet Hospital down the street on Ventura Blvd. more

Inconsistent but very friendly. 7/5/2007

Inconsistent ... While I really like Dr. Richter, the owner of the practice, I have been disappointed with most of the other vets there. On our last visit I waited for over an hour in a treatment room and it was not the first time. High prices. If my dog needed surgery I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Richter but for anything else the inconvenience and price is too high. Pros: very friendly office staff, clean facility, parking Cons: long wait times, some of the practice vets unfriendly more

AWFUL 2/3/2007

If you love your animal - DO NOT trust this Vet with your pet. Inept staff. Absolutely awful experience. \r \r They must not have even opened the file on my animal before preforming surgery as they didn't take care of the primary concern. It was my mistake to bring my animal back to have them complete the process and they did a hasty job at that causing him to later be rushed to an emergency clinic over the weekend. My poor dog has been put under 3 times in 3 days as a result of their sloppy 'services.' more

GOOD CLINIC 11/19/2005

I've taken my dog and cat there for years. It's always a clean facility. The doctors in this practice are very thorough, kind and respectful. They're good with follow-up calls, too. And they're also good at recommending specialists when something is beyond their skill set. I have always received good care here, and am very particular about the well-being of my pets. There's not another practice I'd recommend more. more

Great Valley Vets 6/13/2005

The cool western ranch style of the Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group building is enough to make you and your dog want to check it out. But aside from getting to walk through rustic swinging doors, you'll have a great experience. The vets here have all been amazing. They are true animal lovers - not just punching the clock. The front desk has always been really helpful and courteous. If you're looking for a vet, you can't go wrong here. more

I highly recommend Dr. Kay Wisely. She has been so great in caring for both my dog and cat. She is knowledgeable and friendly in her approach to treatment. more
