Definitely don't go if you're Indian and if you wear a Turban you better have lots of patience. Stupid rules and stupider people working there. You would expect some sort of class from an individual working at a Club since they see so many people on a continuous basis but all you get is a bunch of Rude black guys, with their do rags and backwards baseball caps giving you attitude when none is needed. I realize these guys are in the pinnacle of their employment and take their jobs seriously... or they're just fed up being a loser and try to put down everyone else. I'm thinking it's the latter... so if you can then avoid this place, its dark, smelly, and not that great of an atmosphere. But if you're 18 then its one of the flew 18 and over clubs and you probably have no choice. I'd take G Lounge on 17th and Sansom over this place in a heart beat... Wednesday nights_NOCTURNE: Djs, are cool, from 9-11pm, u-call-it $3 drinks, good music but thats all to it. The people are rude, they stick together like a cult. Drama hill from here on out. If your looking to have a good time with your OWN friends, then this place is for you, other than that the drinks and music would be the only reason to go. Never take your NY friends there 4 sure...its getto and trashy....the bathroom is a disaster....if you are a female go with friends or BEWARE the guys will grab at you, touch you and there are always a couple really creepy old men there :o just staring. Pros: multiple rooms with various music...you have choice. the Djs can be pretty good. Cons: The bouncers grab your crotch (if youre male) and your chest (if youre female), might catch a disease because its packed and sweaty, i think its about $20 just to enter and if they are having a bad night u lost ur $$$, best time to come is about 11:30-12:00 but closes at 2am...so kinda expensive. Hard to find parking and someone might break into your car (happened to me). Bad neighborhood. O and sometimes the waiting line is ridiculous. Good place. The big fat white bald bouncer named 'Stone Cold' should of been aborted, but hasnt - his mother should be shot for having that trailer park trash. I was happy to find a spot where you don't have to be 21 to get in but there was a high price to pay! There was a convenient coat check and plenty of dance room. I thought the dj was great but was turned off by the massive amount of guys standing around. Get off your a** and dance, you didn't pay $20 to stand for three hours. Besides that I though the mix of old and young to be pretty cool and would definitely go back, but with a lot more people! Shampoo is one of those places that just feels like something out of a movie. The area around shampoo is a bit sketchy looking but seems ok. good amount of parking available. When you first get in you are welcomed by a small ante room that has a coat check and ticket info. Make your way back through the small sitting area and you see two bars. Lots of ambience here. Many small alcoves to hang out in draped in either velvet or surrounded in stone. On the first level there is also a small dance floor with funky lighting but still very dark. Alright so at this point I think good size little club...but upstairs it opens up into this much larger space with another larger dancefloor , two bars,and a stage area for live music. The restrooms are also on this level. Soundsystems here I think are great and geared more toward dance music. It also is a bit loud so you will be yelling your drink orders sometimes when the jams are pumping. Make sure to check their schedule Shampoo plays host to a variety of different partys depending on the night of the week. The place is very trendy and many interesting looking people seem to flock here. Bartenders here are fast, security is excellent, price is average but venue is truly above average. This bar has a very good main dancing floor and good techno music. There are many bars so it's not that hard to get a drink. The the hip hop room is lame. Very small and the music is at best average. The drinks where average too, not really bad but you can easily find better ones elsewhere. The problem with this club is the management. If you have any problem with the service, the manager just don't care. The guys at the door are jerks, they totally screwed up our night when they asked for our batteries and then lost them (and several others from several people). If the guys at the entrance ask for anything from you, be very aware that they are not serious nor responsible and they may lose your stuff. Went recently on a Saturday night around 11pm. Was relatively dead except for the hip-hop "room" which was filled with ballcapped teens swaying back and forth. Admitting the under-21 crowd ruins everything. I couldn't even take my beer down to the dance floor. Guess you have to choose between drinking and dancing. When I lived in Philly this was my favorite spot, especially Fridays. I love the nice mix of guys and the fun, funky atmosphere. Everytime I go to visit Philly it is on my dance card. The music is fantastic and the staff is friendly. There is a little bit there for everyone. Don't take this place or the great town that is Philadelphia for granted!!!!! Getting frisked on entry creates an edgy feel not carried inside. Younger, energetic dancers on the packed lower dance floor and relatively few were just looking. If you faint, you might not hit the floor. Body heat made it tropical. Upstairs pulsates with a vibrant, diverse, fun-loving crowd. Saturday there was a well-selected mix of techno, house and some trance music. Imaginative costumes on this night after Halloween. Great dancing, pretty friendly crowd. Closed up just after 2 AM. This place is too big and too sterile to have fun in. I found the ambience dark and cold and the music loud and obnoxious. I haven't been there on disco nights, but Saturdays. more

Shampoo is the BEST dance club in Philly- a lot more like being in NYC... There's lots of rooms and music styles to choose from, and a lot of beautiful people. The Halloween party is crammed, but awesome! Look for discounts on their website... Pros: Trendy, Great music, Large club more
