Worst salon experience of my life! They fried my hair, they cut off 14 inches, then still made me pay!! My mom recently went there with a gift certificate. She was harassed by the manager about how he schedule was set up, the scheduler said nothing, my mom didn't receive all of her services, they didn't cut her hair right, she was not refunded for the services she didn't receive, and she ended up leaving in tears. Did I mention the manager harassed her, didn't believe a word she said, ignored her when she tried to speak, and was just generally rude an disrespectful. How can they still be in business??? DO NOT GO TO SHAKTI!!!! I'm only giving them a star because it is required. They don't deserve stars. more

I recently got a semi-perm color only. The colorist put the color on and I literally never saw her again! When the timer went off another employee took me to was out my color (she was great). I opted not to get a cut (so glad i did) so my shampooer took me to my station so that I could dry and style my own hair. I never saw anyone again until i went to check out. During my checkout i wasn't asked how everything went either. The color dis not come out anything like it showed jn the picture I showed her. I did see my colorist outside about 2-3 times during my hour and a half there. I will NEVER go back and am glad that I only spent $25 for a $50 gift certificate. more

I've been going to Aveda salons in many cities along the East Coast and I have always had a good experience at Shakti. In response to some of the other comments about snotty attitudes or 'bored' receptionists... try going to a bigger city. Ever been to Boca Raton, FL??? I go to a salon to get a good cut/color - not to get my ego stroked by the receptionists. The only stroking I need is a good massage and they have those too!! more

I just went there tonight. Wonderful five star cut by Kailyn. She is great!! Amazing!!. I am always treated horribly by the receptionist. She has some quirky name Elveta or something like that. What a rude ignorant witch. I am able to ignore the simple minded receptionist and concentrate more on my talented stylist. I have been going there for five years. Only 4 stars because of the witch. more

Good: the hair stylists in general are very friendly but differ enormously regarding their ability/professionalism. Bad: the receptionists are not very friendly, not attentive - are they bored? underpaid? maybe. Improvements: more sophistication regarding cuts and highlights. Other: Had highlights done by MArgie, which was a great experience. She listens and is very circumspect in what she is doing. At one appointment when Margie was not available I had highlights done by Amy. She is very friendly but just not up to the job. She did awful highlights, very fast, and exactly the way I did not want it (to light I guess the reason was - as so often in these cases - bad communication. She does not listen, does everything in a hurry, and was rough. Do not know if I go back... or where to go. more

Apparently the last two comment are from people who just lost their mind. I lived in New York and California and presently live in Florida all of which are noted for having amazing salon & spas with service that cattier to high end clientèle. Every time I fly in I make sure I have an appointment booked because of the quality they offer. I have also went to Woodhouse and Atmosphere on a few occasions and will have to say Atmosphere is decent but Woodhouse was a total disappointment. It is a shame because the place is so beautiful inside you just hoped the the service was at lease decent. Maybe in time it will change but for now Shakti is still on top in my books. more

Who needs to put up with snotty attitudes, nail techs who call you at home on sunday to try to sell you Mary Kay, and a stylist who refuses to cut bangs into your hair? How about the toenail fungus I got from a pedicure. Back in the day when Shakti was the only high end salon in town you just had to accept it. But with the Woodhouse and Sapphire who know how to treat customers, why would anybody still go to this place? more

Shakti is a higher end hair salon of the area. My cousin recently went here to get her hair cut, colored, and high lighted. Her natural hair color is darker brown to black. She got it highlighted with shades of lighter brown and blond and it was tinted green. She was very disappointed and needed to have it redone elsewhere. more
