Best

This has become my go to place for some good juicy burgers. The meat's perfectly cooked and whatever sauce they put on it is a sure winner. I always get a double because a singl...

Worst

I went here for a quick bite to eat. I've heard so much about this place and decided this was the perfect time to try it. Honestly... I thought it was okay. The service was pretty...

worth the hype 6/4/2006

The atmosphere at the Shake Shack can't be beat - that is undeniable! There is nothing like hanging out in this park with some friends on a cool summer day and having some burgers and shakes. But... I'm not sure the huge hype is really worth standing in line for an hour and a half like I did! We were with friends, so the time flew, but maybe after that long of a time you're really expecting something amazing. The burgers were good, but I was disappointed with the shake I got. Maybe it was the day, but I paid $5 for a huge cup of chocolate milk it seemed like. Tasty chocolate milk... but shakes should really have a thicker, creamier consistancy in my opinion especially if they cost that much. If you want a burger comparable to In-and-Out's - try Blue 9 on 14th. more

I fifth that emotion 5/14/2006

Shake Shack IS good. For all the talk about In-N-Out burgers which have yet to see the light of day on the East Coast, I understand these burgers are comparable to those burgers. I will admit I have the advantage of being able to look out of an apartment (not mine) situated by the park, so I can see when the line grows shorter. That's when I strike. There are other offerings on the menu, but it would be a sin to leave without at least one burger on your tray. There is also a special Shack Sauce, which is a mysterious blend of ketchup, mayonnaise, relish, and some other condiments. This is good stuff slathered on your bun - I happily purchase several at a time to keep at home in my fridge. Also a nice touch: the Poochini, a custard treat and biscuit combo for dogs, of which there are plenty - given the dog run a stone's throw away in Madison Square Park. more

Unbelievably Good 3/10/2006

The line is worth it. Shake Shack has got the goods you want in your belly. BUT REMEMBER TO SPECIFY YOUR CONDIMENTS. I made the mistake of just ordering a burger once and all I got was a patty on a bun. So sad. I had to crawl through crowds of people to get some goodies for my patty. I skip the fries - they don't do it for me. The shakes are great, though. Bring a $20. You never know how much you will want. more

Unbelievably Great Burger 10/31/2005

Well - I actually had a cheeseburger without the burger (I'm a vegetarian), fries, and a chocolate milk shake. This place is great - it's a beautiful fall afternoon in NY (sunny and 70 degrees), lots of happy people outside, and - well - life is just really good when you are sitting in the sun, in a park in NY, warm, and enjoying a burger (even if you don't have any meat on the bun). more

this burger place is great 8/28/2005

I read somewehere that this shak was voted the best burger in new york city. Well, plain and simple, it is in my opinion the best. The shakes are nice too. It gets crowded sometiems, but i don't mind waiting for food this nice, who would? So try it out for yourself and see. more

Shake it up! 8/15/2005

It is all about old school fun at the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. Burgers, fries and frozen custard may not sound worth lining up for, but when Danny Meyers does them, the wait is worth it! But it is not just about the food at the Shake Shack. The ambiance takes you back to the beach and in the middle of the summer in New York, that's priceless. more
