My husband and I were in Seward for the Polar Bear Jump in January 2006. We decided to stop by DJ's to have a drink. The bartender was ok- her drinks were strong but she acted hesitant towards us. The locals entering the bar gave us the once over like we didn't belong. After two drinks, we decided to leave and go somewhere less uncomfortable. A woman walked up to our barstools and asked if we were leaving. We said ""Yes"" and she said ""Good, get on out of here.""
We are from Anchorage, not from Mars. Unfortunately, Alaskan people who don't live in Anchorage have some sort of disdain for people who do live there.
The next time we are in Seward, we won't go to DJ's. We will go somewhere that treats us better and appreciates that we are in their town to spend money and relax.
Pros: strong drinks
Cons: unfriendly locals
