Okay. First of all. They serve you food on plastic plates. And the "silverware" is plastic too. We had to find out the hard way. We weren't given any without first having to ...

Could seafood ever be this terrible? 5/26/2008

This place is on the pricey end for a "cafe". However, we thought we would give it a try because it was right on the water and pretty busy. What we didn't realize is that anyone with a palate would not go there to eat, and the only reason it was busy was because it was Happy Hour and drinks were cheap! Speaking of cheap, EVERY dish at our table was terrible: ribs, stuffed shrimp, sole, seafood pasta, crab cakes...even the hamburger wasn't that great! I had the $20+ crab cake "dinner" and it was served with tarter sauce that came from a "fast food" type packet - yuck! The only thing good were the steak fries (they were decent) and the homemade potato chips. Go there ONLY for the chips and cheap drinks at happy hour...otherwise you will wind up getting food to eat AFTER dinner because there is no way you can finish such awful tasting seafood meals. Pros: The view, cheap drinks at happy hour and the homemade potato chips Cons: Everything else! The food, prices, service...did I say the food? more

AWFUL!! 5/23/2008

Oh my Gosh! It was AWFUL! I mean AWFUL! We should have left when they handed out plastic cutlery. I knew it had to be a joke and that someone would pop out of the bushes and say " You are on Candid Camera!" It was a total rip-off, our entrees were about $17 a person and they were HORRIBLE. My husband never I mean never throws away food, but he did not eat even half his food. I would have rather eaten at Long John Silvers. School cafeteria food would have been better. BE AWARE! Stay Away! It is a tourist trap, that is the only way they can survive. NOBODY would go back a second time. Pros: view Cons: FOOD SERVICE PRICE more

Not for Dinner. 7/26/2006

Okay. First of all. They serve you food on plastic plates. And the "silverware" is plastic too. We had to find out the hard way. We weren't given any without first having to get up and walk over to the hostess and remind her that we couldn't eat their low grade, out of the box pasta without utensils. Fortunately, there is a nice view of downtown manhattan and the seaport from where we sat to distract us from the mediocre food and bad service. It's too bad they ended up overcharging (almost double) for a sticky, flavorless pasta alfredo w/chicken dish without "realizing" it. Its really too bad because different management could make much better use of that wonderful location. Come for drinks. Leave for real food. Pros: Food arrives quickly. Cons: Food doesn't taste so great. more

Fabulous onion rings, not fancy but fabulous 7/7/2006

I love this place. the onion rings are greasy and they're the one's with minced pieces, probably from frozen. But if you like those kind they are so good!!!!!!!!!!! and being on the water makes it that much better! and the rare roast beef sandwich w/ cheese and I think pesto mayo is great! but it's big so you could share. and if you get a soda get it in the bottle w/ a cup of ice, so good. The Seaport in general is my favorite NYC place and the Seaport cafe one of my favorite restaurants! Pros: Food, location more
