Best

I didn't know what to expect when I initially contacted them via telephone. I had read a couple of reviews and checked out their website. Both seemed very positive, but what helpe...

Worst

I called the clinic to hear their hours of operation and it said they were open at 7:30 am. I then proceeded there with our sick dog and was told the dr. would not be in until 8:3...

Great Place for QUALITY Pet Care!! 12/21/2010

I have taken my dogs here multiple times for everything from their yearly wellness exams and vaccines to emergencies such as a snake bite on 1 of them and have no complaints what-so-ever. I have seen all 3 vets and each one of them cared about my dogs as if they were their own. I was greeted by the cheerful front staff as I walked in and the same attitude continued with the techs throughout the visit. I have been reading the reviews on here and I'm a little concerned that they are misleading. The prices are a little higher than other local vets but you ultimately ""get what you pay for"". Would you want to go to the cheapest doctor for your care, I don't think so...they are cheap for a reason, what are they leaving out so your bill can be cheaper? Your pets are your children and thats how the Schertz Animal Hospital staff treats them. If this is a problem, then this hospital probably isn't right for you. I highly recommend Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Mossburg and Dr. Brandenberger to everyone who wants the ""BEST"" care for their ""family"" member. more

Extremely Over Priced 9/3/2010

Every year our bill has increased for our dogs' annual exam. Now a simple tooth pulling would have cost us almost $600! We are now going to a less expensive animal hospital, where they only charged us $144 for teeth cleaning and having one tooth pulled. I agree with other reviewers, clients are being way over charged to help pay for their shiny new facility. I used them only once 8 years ago for kennel services, to this day I wondered how my puppy suddenly has a small bump on her forehead. Not happy with that incident, only went there for yearly shots. As of today we are going to another animal hospital in Universal City, their service prices are reasonable and not outrageously high with rediculous add ons for this and that, what a racket. more

VERY EXPENSIVE 8/5/2009

The hospital, staff and doctors are very professional. It's a good place to take your animals, BUT EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! Not to mention the followups! I've taken my dog to another vet and they charged me an arm/leg, but that was it...not follow up fees after that. SO IF YOU TAKE YOUR ANIMAL THERE, EXPECT TO PAY, PAY AND PAY!!!!!! Pros: PROFESSIONAL Cons: VERY VERY EXPENSIVE more

What a great clinic!!! 2/25/2009

This was our first visit to Schertz Animal Hospital and we couldn't have been more pleased. We took our 2 toy fox terriers in for dental service and the experience was 1st class. From our first phone call to the initial consultation with Dr. Rodriguez we were given thorough explanations of the complete process by the professional and friendly staff members. Our animals were treated beautifully, as they should be at a vetrinary office. When picking up our pups after their treatments they were calm and happy. Not traumatized and still reeling from anesthesia as we have experienced at other clinics. And our dogs have their beautiful white smiles again too! We would highly recommend this clinc to anyone who loves their pets and wants the very best care provided for them. Pros: Very professional. Great care for your pets. more

Wonderful Staff - Great rates 2/17/2009

I love Schertz Animal Hospital. I feel very comfortable taking my baby there. The examination was thorough and everything was explained to me. I knew what they were doing and why. The staff was very caring and my dog was totally comfortable with them, as much as a dog can be in that situation. Pros: Everything was a pro more

Overpriced!! 1/8/2009

I have a large female dog that we wanted spayed. I called several offices close to us and the average price was $225. The new Schertz clinic is about 4 miles from home so I thought it would be great to take her there. I was told it would be $495 + any additional fees for shots, workups and any pain meds that needed to go home with her! I had heard they were higher for routine shots but had no idea that they would be double the price. Nice new building, but I don't want to pay for that, just the care of my dog. Cons: Extremely high prices more

Great staff and facility 12/9/2008

This was my first visit to this office and I was very impressed with every staff member I encountered. The front office staff was helpful and friendly, they fit my dog into a busy schedule without putting out any of the other patients, and the vet was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail so I could understand what my options were for my dog. The facility is clean, comfortable and very pet-friendly. I think this is a great choice for your animals. more

Excellent ""Make My Puppy Better"" Place!!! 7/16/2008

""The puppy"" (Bart - 53.5 pounds of friendly) has been in to visit the Schertz Animal Hospital at least 5 or 6 times. He's an 18 month old American/English bulldog mix (supposedly, but he looks like he's got some boxer mixed in there, too). The staff has been polite, friendly, professional and knowledgeable every time and I think the doctors are top notch. When Bart was a ""small"" pup, he broke a tiny bone near the ligament on his back leg. Dr. Rodriguez found the fracture (pretty fast, it seemed to me), put a cast on it, put another cast on it after he chewed the first and second ones off, called it good (saving Bart $2000+ and a lifetime limp) and Bart now walks perfectly like the proud, productive member of society that he is. The office has some ""special/recommended"" products (food, pet maintenance supplies) stocked and for sale to the public and the grooming/kennel areas seem more than satisfactory. The entire operation is moving to a new, updated facility within the next few months with much more available space. All things considered, I think the Shertz Animal Hospital provides an excellent, customer focused, vet function to the community. Pros: Professional, friendly, helpful staff - Top notch doctors. Many (varied) services available. Cons: Waiting area could be bigger - new facility will be complete in a couple/few months. more

Customer Service at front desk and on phone not helpful or polite. 5/4/2008

With as many places as there are now to take your pets for care, you would think the customer service to the pet owners would be a must. I wanted to go to Schertz Animal Hospital because they were close and convenient. When I called initially on the phone, it sounded like that person had a horrible day and truly didnt want to be at work. Trying to take that into consideration, I didnt give up. I then stopped by to make an appt in person and again...the same treatment in person but, from multiple employees. I chose to say I would call and make an appt, but, knew I wouldnt call or go back. I felt that if this is the way they are allowed to treat customers of their ""patients"" then it must be the same with the veterinarian(s). I do hope this is not true. I see they are building a new building, so things must be going well. Hopefully in their nice new fancy house looking office will come training in top quality customer service. I now drive from Schertz all the way to Adkins for all of my pets. I pass by S.A.H. everytime and feel a bit angry. It would be so much easier to go there. But, my ""babies"" are treated wonderfully out there and SO AM I. thank you. Pros: their building a new office? that doesnt impress me what so ever. Cons: No Customer Service at all. more

Misleading 4/28/2008

I called the clinic to hear their hours of operation and it said they were open at 7:30 am. I then proceeded there with our sick dog and was told the dr. would not be in until 8:30 am! If I had known that in the first place I would have gone to a pet emergency center first. A whole hour was wasted as I proceeded to the emergency center several miles from there in morning traffic. The sales people/clerks were not very nice and rather brusque. It became apparent to me that their phone message is misleading; one would think that the dr. was in at that time. The message made no reference either way so I was left thinking that opening at 7:30 meant full-service. I proceeded to an emergency center where both the dog and me were treated humanely and a dr. was there immediately checking our our dog. I am very dissapointed in the care at Schertz Animal Hospital which is nearby in my town. Pros: good parking; good vet assistants Cons: front office clerks; inhospitable and certainly not accomodating more

o.k. but no customer service 12/19/2007

I am new to the area and had to find a new vet. Called this clinic and scheduled an appointment to bring my dog in. When i got there they added charges to my initial quote. The other times i called for a quote, i was quoted for additional services that i knew, because of a lifetime of experience as a pet owner, were not necessary. The assistance at the counter seem more like sales representatives. My pet was treated and i am satisfied with the vet services, but watch out for the sales clerks. Pros: convenience Cons: staff is more like a sales store more
