THE BEST FOOD IN SF Peter Bruce Photo

Worst

I went there yesterday using Dine About Town and I was not that impressed with the food for the most part. My boyfriend got the meatloaf, but the chef seemed to forget the ""loaf...

chill at Sauce 1/23/2005

A very relaxed atmosphere with a great bar, a lounge and second bar in the back for events or just to chill. Food is excellent and a great value for money. Sauce feels like your local neighborhood restaurant, but better! And you can hear yourself speak!! more

delicious food & thoughtful staff... 1/23/2005

the food is classy, with a comfort food feeling, and you get huge portions. the dining area is soft and pleasant, and the lounge area in the back is draped in red velvet with plenty of couches and cushions... perfect for hanging out with your friends. the waitstaff and management are attentive, but not intrusive at all, like some restaurants where they're coming to your table every 2 minutes. and, their desserts are to die for.... Pros: central location, 2 bar areas, great desserts more

Flawless ambience,incredible food & svc. 1/23/2005

The moment you walk through the door it begins, Sauce is not just a restaurant..its one of those rare San Francisco experiences you cant find anywhere else. The atmosphere sublime, the front and back bars perfect for dining, a pre-dinner drink or a large event. The chef prepares food as unique and delicious as the name would suggest..this from a sauce lover and hedonist. Go Sauce! Pros: Great food, Value!, Atmosphere Cons: , Parking more

Haven't Tried It? R U Nuts?! 1/23/2005

If you've never tried Chef Ben's crab wontons or portabello mushroom fries, you're totally missing out. If you've never had the meatloaf, you don't know what your life is missing! Awesome atmostphere, fun and funky, just like my friends. They were really great about share plates, too, a bunch of us ordered a ton of appetizers (at 12:15am!) and just shared them around. So much fun! Pros: Good Parking, Fun atmosphere, Great Cocktails Cons: , Food=iatewaytoomuch more

Excellent restaurant w/full bar 1/23/2005

I went to Sauce last night with 6 friends - the food was fantastic and the atmosphere is great - dj music is playing in the background and it attracts the hip and beautiful late 20's, 30's, and younger 40's crowd. The separate lounge in back is very cool w/red velvet on the walls - it's dark w/great music. I highly recommend Sauce and I plan on becoming a regular :) Pros: good food, fun atmosphere, great music more

Wonderful service! 7/7/2004

The food is terrific and the service is outstanding! You could not find a more professional and friendly staff anywhere in the city. Very nice menu selection and varied entree prices is a huge plus. Lovely little restaurant - will be frequenting this fine establishment often! Pros: friendly staff, great food, varied prices more

GREAT!! I LOVE THIS PLACE 10/18/2003

This place has one of the best food around in San Francisco. You must try their double porkchop, duck, steak, and crab special. This restaurant has one of the best caesar salad. This place is a must try! The service is good, the ambiance is really nice. I love this place Pros: Inexpensive, short wait, good service Cons: smaller more

great value 8/19/2003

If you dine here with your date, start at the bar during the happy hour. If you then share your food at the dining room, you can have 2 drinks each, free appetizers, salad and soup, 2 entres with different side veges, and desert, all for about $40, and that's including tax and tips. Incredible bargain when you consider that all the entres we've tried so far (8 dishes) compare favorably (in quality and quantity) to those offered at more well known French bistros in the neighborhood (Hayes Valley, Upper Market area) Pros: Inexpensive, Not crowded, authentic bistro food Cons: small menu more

Great Happy Hour 8/7/2003

happy hour from 4:30-6:30 weekdays is awesome. for $4 you can get 2 tap beers and a small appetizer, what a deal. other drinks also on special, buy one get one free and every pair comes with the appetizer which changes frequently. last time we had an excellent but small crab cake and a very greasy and average tiny quesadilla slice. regardless, the value is excellent. the food was also very good, i have tried the sole and the braised spare rib. very reasonable prices for fine dining, $10-15 for soup or salad, entree, desert. $1 extra for small appetizer. service was awesome. the waiter remembered our names from 3 days ago, our water was filled about 20 times, very friendly etc. Pros: Happy Hour, Inexpensive more
