Sandras Mexican Restaurant

I ate lunch at Sandra?s with a business friend and we were both unimpressed. There was nothing bad about it, nor was there anything great about it. The food was so-so, the service was so-so, and the ambiance was the same. The price of the meal was Ok. The drink prices were outrageous. No energy or enthusiasm in the restaurant. Usually an authentic Mexican family restaurant has some character or distinguishing virtue, here the character seams very boring. I'd steer clear of this restaurant. We thought it would be nice to have lunch on the patio as it was a beautiful day. Unfortunately, it turned out to be not so wonderful. In a nutshell, the service was slow, the waitress had attitude (like we were inconveniencing her), the food was cold (had to send it back to be warmed up) and not very tasty, and I ended-up getting sick later that day. I've been to many Mexican restaurants in Denver, and this family-run hidden jewel may be the best. Every dish is tasty, fresh, well presented, and never heavy or greasy. Service is friendly and attentive, and, importantly, the whole restaurant is always clean and well cared-for. And they have a fine outdoor patio, perfect for a delicious plate of tamales on a summer's eve. What could be better? Prices are low ($20-25 will get you a couple of supper entrees, a couple of drinks from the bar, and tax and tip). A fine neighborhood spot, and even worth a drive across town. We ate lunch at Sandra's on a Saturday. Sadly, there were few other customers. The margarita was strong and the beer was very cold. Very good burritos. This place is not special, but the value is excellent. $4.00 for a chicarron burrito, smothered. We are going tomorrow for lunch. Pros: food, value Cons: service more
