San Francisco Dancewear

The dancers that work here are amazing. If you are a more beginning dancer, or need a lot of assistance, then I would recommend it. However, there are constantly about 5-6 employees in the store, and they are always trying to offer assistance, even when it is not needed. The owner, however is quite loud, always present, and continually talking loudly regarding politics and inaccurate dance information.\r \r And...I understand that they need to make a profit, but things are ridiculously overpriced. Pointe shoes offered online are about twenty dollars cheaper per pair. Upside is, at the store you get to try them on, but if you already know what you wear, order them online.\r \r Also, there's a Capezio store in SF, so they don't really offer Capezio products. more

I've shopped here for supplies for my 3 y.o. daughter for gymnastics and dance. They are a tiny bit expensive, but I thought worth it due to great selection. However, I had to return a leotard, unworn, never out of the bag. My daughter said she didn't like it, and it wasn't worth fighting over. I brought it in, and the person at the counter looked over it with a fine-tooth comb, holding it this way and that, turned it over three times before she saw a microscopic dot and claimed she wouldn't take it back. She asked if I would buy it "in this condition." Well, obviously, since I did! She did take it back, after disappearing for 10 minutes to "see if it would come out." Honestly, I could barely see anything, and it may have just been a very small speck of fuzz! She was rude, in action and tone of voice, the whole attitude. I had planned to look for tights and a new leotard, but will not go there again -- other store are around, I can buy on-line. I'm disappointed and offended. more

My friend is a dancer and always goes to San Francisco Dancewear. I went with her once and was completely amazed at all of the dance things they had in the store. They had shoes for dancers that take hip-hop, ballet, jazz, modern, and more. The prices did not seem to be expensive at all for thhe shoes. The store also had costumes to wear for all types of dances and recitals. The staff informed me that they do have hand-made costumes, whci were beautifully decorated and looked as though they could really bring out the idea of the piece of choreography. My friend says that this is the best place to go to if one is looking for any type of dance wear, like shoes, costumes, and other accesories. The prices did not seem to be expensive at all. If I was a dancer as she is, I would shop here for the things a dancer would need. more

SF Dancewear is the best place in the city to buy all dance related apparel. If you're taking a dance class, chances are, the instructor will recommend that you purchase your shoes from SF Dancewear. SF Dancewear also hands out discount coupons to teachers so ask yours if he/she has any. Whether it's ballroom, tap, ballet, or hip-hop, SF Dancewear will probably have the shoe that fits your needs. When I was there, I also found quite a few things on sale/clearance. I found the staff here incredibly friendly and helpful. They really took time to help me find the right shoe and the right fit.
