i could not believe that nashville has such a place that serves real italian pasta! i loved it! You will not regret!

Worst

Service from the young lady was excellent. The food was just awful. Calamari breading was falling off (if it were breaded at all. Sauce on Manicotti was just tomato paste. No ...

I cant belive this place is still open 1/30/2010

Ok so before ill start this let me first say being from Philly I know what a good Italian restaurant slash pizzeria should be. ok so i went there 2 months ago to order a pizza. the guy at the counter was answering phones. as he is talking to the customer on the phone he tells me to wait.. ok no problem. when he finally get around to taking my order. the phone rings he tells me to hold one second. ok no problem.... answers the phone and stays on there taking a huge order. im just sading there. 5 minutes later he takes my order. I pay 15 minutes later im taking home a pizza. It was ok no that great but not bad. Fast froward to three night ago. I go there with my wife same guy answering phones same problem. didnt get my order for about 7 minutes. finally he get the order and i pay. i ordered a meatball stromboli and a cheese steak witch i thought would be atleast full of meat. anyway no i tell the guy no tomato no union. well 20 minutes later i take the food home. and Behold the ""CHEESTEAKE"" had literaly a thin slice of what im guessing was burger meat cut really really thin. and mife wifes Stromboli was all chees there were 3 small half peices of meatball in there. needless to say we ended up cooking. all in all this place sucks. If you want good pizza and italian food Go to JOEYS HOUSE OF PIZZA!!!!!! in franklin Maryland farms off of ward circle. Pros: NON not for me. Cons: you will unhappy more

Can not get better pizza than Sal's. 12/14/2009

Hey, i love Sal's pizza! I travel a lot because of my work. But i live in nashville. Therefore, last week i had to go to Murfreesboro, Tn. To my astonishment Sal's pizza had another location in that city too. I Had to stop by at that location and as always they were the best. Guys, i do not know what you guys put on your pizza, just keep doing whatever you were doing. Great people.! You walk in the restaurant you always see employees running around. Don't understand the hype 9/15/2009

Ever since I moved to the area two years, everyone has been telling me how great Sal's pizza is. We got hooked on Jet's pizza, the staff is always pleasant and they always give us a coupon! But, I always had Sal's in the back of my mind, I always wanted to try it and support a non-chain business. So, we ordered a pizza along with some stuffed mushrooms. I was surprised they delivered it so quickly, but I was disappointed in general. The mushrooms were pretty disgusting- I think they made them first, then let them sit while they made the pizza. They were cold, shriveled, and tasteless. The pizza was pretty good, but I was expecting it to be as good as Jet's, if not better. The crust was pretty hard in places, inedible. I also did not receive my $5 off coupon, but I did order on-line and let my husband answer the door, so I guess that's on me. Just really disappointed and I hate to say that the chain I love, Jet's, will be getting all our pizza business. **Oh, and I just saw a news story on 4/19 about a delivery driver who admitted he tried to s*xually assaulted a female customer and a co-worker tried to cover for him. WOW. Judging from other reviews, sounds like a bunch of creeps work there. Cons: Possible Assault? more

great pizza and friendly staff, great in-house specials..if you want delivery , call a chain..the folks at Sals are too busy maintaining a wonderful restaurant and making carry-out specials affordable for their customers. The pizza is always great! more

Poor Customer Service 6/21/2009

I use to really like Sals until I went on a weekend for the buffet. Service was lax, the pizza was cold. When I asked politely when another pie was coming out (since I'd had two ice cold slices and the pizzas were pretty much gone) the man just looked at me like I was crazy and said, ""We have fresh pie here."" I just walked away and continued to wait. more

BAIL OUT SPECIAL 3/5/2009

I want to thank Sal's Pizza for helping people out with their ""BAIL OUT SPECIAL"" which stands for Extra Large Pizza with one topping for $10.99. You cannot beat that. Specially when we are going through these tough times. also, I have to mention about the quality of this pie, price went down but not the quality though. Still the best. Thank you Sal's pizza, we will keep coming back. Pros: Friendly people, high quality food Cons: Can't stop eating this pizza more

Arrogant and Inconsistent 1/30/2009

I used to think that this place was to die for. We moved from California and thought this was the only good pizza in Nashville. That was until their deliveries were inconsistent in terms of quality. And, then, the guys who I ordered from kept telling me that they don't deliver to my address even though they had been here many times. They actually argued with me about this. So, we have gone with Stromboli, which is right on Lebanon Pike by the Hermitage Post Office. It is a great local place with no attitude and consistent quality. But, tonight, they were closed so I had to try Sal's once again. When I called, they told me they don't deliver to me even though I am one exit away from them. I said that they had in the past. The guy then told me that they were too busy to deliver to me. Incredible. If you think that you are that good that you can have terrible customer service, good luck to you Sal! more

Best pizza in the state! 1/9/2009

I can't believe how great Sal's Pizza really is. I love it. I've been there many many times. It's worth every calorie x 10. I have to go this weekend now just thinking about it. I used to think that Angelo's Picnic Pizza was it in Nashville, it turns out Sal's is the place. No fancy dining just fantastic pizza and pasta's. more

try the double crust!!!!! 8/19/2008

I have been a loyal Sal's patron for 6 years now and I can honestly say I have not found a better pizza in Nashville. I grew up Chicago style and love pizza and Sal's is it in Nashville. Granted this is not Chicago style pizza but it doesn't matter cause it has its own unique style. If you like meat on your pizza go for the double crust its my fave. Also the baked ziti is pretty incredible. Oh yeah the pesto vegetarian is always a smash at my house add some roasted garlic, good stuff!!!!!! Pros: great for pickup easy and yummy Cons: delivery is pretty slow just go pick it up ready in 15 minutes or less more

Avoid during business hours! 4/16/2008

If you appreciate revolting, greasy filth (""food"") and loud guidos fluttering about a small space decorated with obnoxious ""Americana"" relics and ugly photographs of patrons, this is place for you. This ""establishment"" seems to attract quite a number of generic, tub of lard Americans whom can barely fit through door. Restaurant is most likely financially supported by money from organized crime. Save money, stay home, drink spaghetti sauce and listen to Frank Sinatra. Cons: mere fact that place exists more

best pizza in town 3/5/2008

I am a pizza lover and have tried every pizza in town. This is by far the best new york style pizza around. Its better than 'the house of pizza', 'pie in the sky', 'mellow mushroom', 'pizza perfect',' new york police pizza', angelino's picnic pizza, etc. Trust me I've tried them all. The only other place that comes close in my opinion is 'Rossi's' in Smyrna, except for the sausage at 'Rossi's', its not all that great. So Sals is deffinetely at the top of my list. You gotta try it! Even though Sal is gone it is still just as good as when he was there. I promise. Pros: Absolutely the best pizza in nashville Cons: The calamari could be better more

best in town 2/4/2008

i am what i consider a pizza pro, and let me tell you this place has got it going on. ive tried all different kinds of pizza places and sals has the best most authentic new york style pizza anywhere in nashville. their pastas are excellent,their salads are good(not a huge fan of salads in general) ,garlic rolls are delicious, and pizzas are huge! keep up the good work and you guys are doing just fine without sal. overall, good service,nice,quiet atmosphere,and great food. five stars from me more

Best pizza in town 8/22/2007

I am a server at Sals. As a co-worker the food is still the same and we still have the same cooks. So please dont be discouraged to come and try the food. We all miss Sal but over all things are great we are busier and making more money than ever. So come and see us we will do everything in our power to make sure that you have a pleasant dining experience. We value all of our faithful customers and hope to get many more. more

Sal's used to be my favorite place, when Sal was there. But when I was there a couple of days ago and ate a pizza, it was delicous. I thought the pizza was going to taste a different than sal used to make, but it was not. more

Um let me explain 4/12/2007

This was my favorite restaurant when Sal owned it. I found out yesterday when I went in with my wife that Sal had sold the establishment. The food was not as good as it used to be. So, anyway now im back to ordering from Papa Johns, (which is terrible) untill i can find another pizza place as good as this used to be. I recommend Pizza Perfect downtown, for now, buts its so far away. For God's sake, SAL COME BACK! Pros: Better service. Cons: Food just isnt as goos as it was. more
