For the Love of Toes! 5/13/2008

I'm a bit overdue to say to the world that Stephanie is Queen of Natural Nails! I have been indulging in her pedicures now for about a year, and my toes have never been happier. Mendy Wright is the greatest hairstylest! 5/13/2008

I have been getting my hair cut & colored by Mendy for over 2 1/2 years now and I've never looked cuter! She always does a FANTASTIC job in not only keeping my hair in good shape, she gives great tips on keeping it in great health between visits. She also takes the time to know who I am and what my preferences are so that when I get a wild hair and want to do something drastic that she knows I'll regret, she can help me make a better choice. It took me long time to find Mendy, but now that I have, I'm never letting her go. Aside from being fantastic with my hair, she is also really fun to spend time with. I look forward to my appointments because I know that we'll have fun conversation and it will be a great time.\r \r She also cuts both my boys hair and they LOVE her...they sit still for her and feel like it's a treat to get time with her. I HIGHLY recommend making an appointment with Mendy. She rocks! more

I haven't been able to find a great place to get my hair done in almost 3 years. I read the reviews posted here and decided to give 'em a try. I had Eden cut and color my hair and I haven't been happier. I've been referring to her like crazy! I love this place! more

I found Mendy and Salon au Rouge on craigslist last year, and the first time I walked in the door, I knew I had found a gem of a salon. The owner and the women who work there are friendly and funny, and each of my visits has been enjoyable and relaxing. The decor, ""Parisian loft"" is chic yet relaxed and welcoming.\r Mendy is my hairstylist, and I freakin' LOVE her! By far, the best cut/color I've had in my life, and I'm 38 so I've had plenty, and hands down she's the best. And affordable, too! I am moving to Seattle in a couple of weeks, and I am heartbroken that I've finally found the hairstylist for me....in Portland! I am seriously considering making the drive just for the cut and color from Mendy, that's how good she is. Finding a stylist who makes you look great, and is a pleasure to converse with, that's priceless. I can't say enough good things! Best haircut ever 4/12/2008

I got my hair cut, colored, and permed at Salon au Rouge by Mendy and it was a great experience. Mendy is so nice and fun to talk to. She kept me entertained the whole time and did a wonderful job with my hair. She put red streaks in my hair without making it look too flashy or tacky. I also took my daughter in for her first hair cut. My daughter seemed nervous at first but Mendy was very nice and quick. I can't believe how stylish my daughter's hair looks. I definately recommend going here and I definately recommend Mendy. Her pricing is also very reasonable and worth every penny. Pros: Nice people, reasonable pricing, very good at what they do. more

The cutest, comfy-est, coziest, friendliest little salon in SW Portland! 4/11/2008

My daughter, Blaire, and I started having Shena cut our hair 3+ years ago, when she was at Beauty First in Beaverton. One day, she told me she was moving to Salon au Rouge... Salon au where? About a month later, I set an appointment with her, and have never looked back! Not only is Shena a wonderful hair care specialist ( recommend her highly), but the Salon is darling. Not sterile like so many big chain salons. It's comfortable, cozy, artistic, with a backdrop view out back of lush greenery. The staff is always so friendly, and you feel completely at home there. Not to mention, ladies, the cute little jewelry and novelty gift entry area...with a cute collection of jewelry and accessories... who can't resist a little shopping in your favorite salon! mendy is GREAT 4/7/2008

I found Mendy off craigslist a year ago, when i first moved here. she is amazing at fixing other people's mistakes, I got a BAD hair cut /color at another salon and mendy fixed both my cut and color, the color of my hair had an orange tint (nasty) she did an amazing job fixing it!! Her pricing is very resonable!! i love going to my apt.'s mendy makes them fun and enjoyable! i would highly recommend her to others!! I responded to a craigslist ad that Mendy posted a few months ago and have been to Mendy twice since then and I have a third appt scheduled for later this month. Mendy is great! She's honest, experienced, and makes good recommendations to me. \r \r I would highly recommend Mendy Wright at Salon Au Rouge. Best Stylist, Mendy Wright, at Salon Au Rouge 4/6/2008

After recently moving to the area, finding a hairstylist can be very hard for some people, after finding Mendy its safe to say that I will be seeing her for a long time. She is very flexible to get me in as soon as possible and is always willing to work around my schedule. She tells me an honest opinion about the ideas I have with color and cut, and gives me tips how I can maintain my new look! Not to mention very quick and very presise with what I am looking for. I just got the cutest haircut. I felt that my stylist listened to what I wanted and gave me the exact cut I asked for. I love the decor and feel of the salon I will definitely be back!\r \r \r Thanks April I love my hair\r \r best pedicure in town\r \r Stephanie at Salon au Rouge gave me the most wonderful pedicure I have ever had! The foot bath that she uses made me feel comfortable about not getting any type of infection. She had a large selection of polishes and massage lotions to choose from. The foot and leg massage was done with a warm wax and was to die for. Pedicures are one of the only things I do to spoil my self and this one took the cake!\r \r Thanks Stephanie your the best! \r Pros: fun place to be more

Perfect Atmosphere to relax in 2/28/2008

Salon au Rouge is a wonderful full service salon. Erin did an amazing job on my highlights and cut. It is nice to have a stylist who knows what she is talking about and can give good suggestions. I got a very nice manicure from Stephanie and a wonderful facial from Leah. The whole salon is fun, and filled with professionals. The owners, April, is very knowledgeable about products, cuts, and styles. You can not go wrong at this Spa. It is a must try if you are looking for a new place (or even if you are not). Don't judge a book by its cover!!!! 2/28/2008

This salon was wonderful. It is absolutely charming on the inside. Bright colors, fun decor and comfortable waiting area and salon chairs. Erin did a color and cut for me and it was exactly what I wanted. Fresh and flirty, but easy to do on my own. I went from Brunette to blond and the highlights are natural and the colors are perfect. Then on top of getting my hair done I enjoyed an eyebrow was from Erin, also wonderful and a terrific pedicure from Stephanie. They were also there quite late in the evening, which was great for my schedule. Everyone was so friendly and inviting there. I would recommend this salon to anyone. Best hairstyle I have had 2/21/2008

Definately recommend going even if it a bit of a drive. Mendy cut, colored and highlighted my hair. She was very attentive and took the time to get to know what I was looking for and gave me exactly what I wanted in a hairstyle! She is a gal with a huge heart. She also carries the EUFORA product line; LOVE IT! I am bringing a friend who is going through cancer treatment there next week for a new short style. Mendy scheduled in for extra time to devote to her. I am definately going back. Pros: Thumbs Up more

Awesome place 2/18/2008

I went in for a Monday Makeover that I had won on the fish station. It was awesome. I never expected all they did. The staff was great and very friendly. They just pampered you to the max. Always asking if you need a drink of water,coffee, tea. Any magazines. They picked out great colors that brought out the best in me. My husband didn't really recognise me. My co workers notice a difference on Monday and was amazed. I would recommend this salon to others. Thank you to Erin and Holly for the great hair cut and color. My kids at the day care are going to be surprised. Pros: Nice place to relax more

Great place to go for hair and more! 2/10/2008

Oh my gosh! This was the best experience I've ever had in a salon. Mendy did my hair and the new cut and gorgeous color was so awesome! I would recommend her to anyone. Everyone in the salon was friendly and the atmosphere was amazing. I am *definitely* going back...not just for hair services, but I figure I'll my manicures and waxing done there too. So Happy 1/4/2008

I am pretty new to the area and had no idea where to go for a haircut and most important a color. I found an ad on craigslist and they had a website (so important). I went to their website and the salon looked very nice and tasteful. I also came here to CitySearch to see if there were any reviews on them. All positive reviews so I called them to see about a consultation and possible color. They were able to accomodate me the next day. I was supposed to have someone else meet with me but she had to cancel so Sherri met with me and she was so pleasant. She complimented me on my hair and told me she would be able to meet my needs. The color came out perfect. I love it. I would highly recommend you try this place if you have no idea where to go. A very clean and quaint place. I will definitely go back. manicures are a treat! 12/1/2007

I've had manicures before - but Stephanie is friendly, and warm. She makes the experience comfortable and relaxing. Her special lotions are wonderful smelling and seasonal and make the session even more special. My daughter and I had a great time! Stephanie is the only manicurist at the salon and has her own little space tucked in back, so it's very quiet and pleasant. more

Place of relaxation 11/26/2007

April cut my hair. She did such a good job. We talked prior to the cut about what my ideas were and what her vision is. I like the way it can be worn straight or curly as I have curly hair. April also does great make-up. She knows skin tones and is great at working with the skin and clothing choices. Highly recommended. more

Can't go wrong with Salon au Rouge! 10/30/2007

I love this place - especially Eden Baxter and owner, April Eastman. So personable and knowledgeable about hair, style, and color. They listen to you and are great at giving you exactly what you want - even if you have a hard time explaining it! I've also had the opportunity to meet others who work at the salon and am impressed with the intimate and friendly atmosphere. In fact, I recommended that my niece go there for her bridal make-up and styling. My niece looked beautiful...and more importantly FELT beautiful...on her wedding day. What bride wouldn't want that?! I highly recommend Salon au Rouge! Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, comfortable environment - Eden is great! Cons: I've learned to book in advance as my stylist is busy, yet I'm picky about my time as well. If you're flexible, you'll get in, no problem. more
