Salan LuLu-a must try 1/25/2012

As a native of CT for many years, I've been to salons from Greenwich to New Haven, and I must say, Salon LuLu ranks among the best. Recently my stylist of many years left the Salon to move to California, he recommended Tom, the owner. Tom's station was right next to Jame's so I was able to watch him cut hair for the last several months. I was indeed impressed- he cut with precision, carefully observing how the hair fell throughout the cutting phase. Today, was my first cut and color with Tom...he didn't disappoint. Great haircut....great salon, friendly staff....relaxing atmosphere. PS-On several occasions when I asked a person who cut their hair, it was always Tom or James at Salon LuLu. Happy Camper! more

My hair can be impossible to work with so I presented a little challenge to Travis and he created his own "sculpture" looks great Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable.. more

Ok, but wouldn't go back 1/18/2012

I have been to Salon Lulu twice now. The staff there are very friendly and attentive, but my hair cut/color have been mediocre -- certainly NOT worth the $200 price tag. For my first cut/color, the color came out much lighter than I wanted. On the second attempt (same stylist) the hair color was perfect in some areas, but too light in others. The haircuts have been ok, but not at all what I had asked for. I belive that the customer should get exactly what they want and will not be returning. more

Hidden Gem 1/3/2012

I was a walk-in after reading the great reviews on Yelp (I am usually extremely hesitant in trying different stylists). The staff was extremely friendly, talented, and professional. The facilities exuded an urban chic vibe which only enhanced the experience. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the services and can't wait to go back for my next cut. more

Very bad dye job 12/19/2011

I visited Salon Lulu because I was in town on business and really needed to get my roots done. I have simple dark brown hair, no highlights, nothing fancy. The people were perfectly friendly, but when I returned to my hotel and looked in my bathroom mirror, my chocolate brown hair now had a RED 2" STRIPE ALL ALONG THE ROOTS. Very punk rock, but not at all what I went in for. I specifically told the colorist that whichever brown dye she used, it needed to have cool undertones, nothing warm or red. The gentleman who is the main colorist there also consulted with her on what color to use, and after putting a swatch up to my head, he said it was the perfect color. Absolutely not. I would never ever go back there. I have had several people ask me what's going on with my hair since I visited the salon, I have been wearing a hat until I can get home to see my usual colorist. more

My mojo is gone 12/18/2011

I asked to 'keep length' and he cut off all my hair 'because it needed it'. Yeah it did, but he didn't do what I asked and now it's the holidays where I have to see everyone and my Mojo is gone. Not going back more

Great Salon 12/15/2011

Great space and location. The stylist are fabulous in both cutting and coloring. Recently when I see a great haircut, I've asked "where do you get your hair done"..the answer was "Salon LulU". If you need a new look, and want to give someone new a try...LuLu is a great place to start. You won't be disappointed. more

TERRIFIC experience! I actually walked in to by some products for my husband (who'd raved about his haircut the previous week), asked if by any chance they could squeeze me in, and they could. Thom gave me a terrific haircut, and it's one that looks as good when I style it as it did when I left the salon.I'll definately return!!! more

Expert Waxing! 12/4/2011

I've been waxed all over the world and Marta is one of the best I've experienced. She makes you feel totally at ease, she's professional, thorough and very attentive. She makes going for a bikini wax an enjoyable experience. Everyone at Salon Lulu brings a high level salon experience without the snobby attitude. You get the personal attention and spoiling of the most elite salons yet still feel completely at home. I love this place! more

Salon Visit 11/22/2011

Well...first and foremost the salon and staff was very friendly. Unfortunately I still felt a bit out of place. The product needed for my hair wasn't readily available so my stylist had to go the nearest ethnic beauty supply store. Also the chemical burns around my hairline didn't help as well. Sorry... more

a ....Complete experience 11/5/2011

Fabulous... Salon Lulu is Everything a salon should be... I used to go to a stylist expecting a great color and cut yet often wound up spending allll day to get a sad color result and barely adequate cut.. @ SALON LULU ...I wound up expecting the same ...yet wound up spending less then 1/2 the time feeling twice as pampered and looking 7 times better.. an expeince that flowed seamlessly from greeting to consult to color to shampoo to cut and style ... teamwork feel as well...completely chic salon A plus ~ Jen H. PS: worth every penny I should never have paid someone else more

Tres magnifique!! 11/3/2011

Well, inspired by my recent trip to Paris, and stylish women who live there, I decided to go for a more updated and sophisticated look. Always a bit scary to chop off one's hair, I explained to Thom what I wanted and he listened. But most importantly he HEARD me! He did an amazing job, and I ended up with a fantastic cut and color that exceded my expectations! Thanks Thom! I LOVE it! Carol Ross more
