I have been a client of Alfredo's since his days at Toni and Guy. =] I have extremely thick and and unruly hair and Alfredo is a pro at handling it. Every single time I walk out of the salon I am satisfied and feel great about how I look. If you are new to the area or looking for someone you can TRUST to cut your hair without butchering it, please go see Alfredo. The last time I went in I actually saw Brandon and have to say he did an excellent job. I can't tell you how many compliments I get about my color and cut every time I see Gayle Standard. She knows exactly what to do every time I see her to make my hair look the best that it can be. If I want a change, she's ready with ideas and gives me the realistic advantages and disadvantages. I can't say enough about her abilities as a hair stylist!\r \r If you're spending 2 hours with anyone one on one, ideally you're looking for someone who's smart, friendly, kind and fun to talk to and Gayle embodies all those things. Went to the salon yesterday a but upset (personal stuff) and left looking great and feeling much better than when I arrived. Receptionist is very welcoming, and the stylist are all very friendly. My hair needed the roots to be brought under control and Lupita Oliva went to work and I felt like a new woman when she finished. My hair looks fabulous and my spirits were lifted by all the kindness that surrounded me. If you are a red head or if you desire red hair Lupita is the only person in Austin to see. Gayle standard always does a great job regardless if it just a trim or a full new styling. She listens toi what you would like and advise if it will suite me. She also cuts my daughters hair and is very patient with their ways more

What can I say except that Gayle is simply awesome at what she does. She couldn't have chosen a better career as far as talent and also loving what she does for a living. I always look forward to the day I get my hair done, not only for the beautiful look I always end up with, but also the conversation and comaraderie! She is both knowledgable and honest. I've been reading the reviews and much of the negativity has been about stylists. If you like the salon, why not try a new stylist? Gayle is the best. She's been doing my hair for about four years and I can't say enough good things about her. I would follow her to the ends of the earth. If she opened up shop in her garage, I would be there!! Luckily she's found a great home at Aqua Blue. \r \r Everyone at Aqua blue is friendly and welcoming when you walk in the door. My only complaint is the chairs are somewhat close together, which makes conversation a little tough at times. But overall, I think the atmosphere is fun and hip...just like Gayle. \r \r Gayle does wonderful things with cuts and color. She has prevented me from making some big mistakes. If you walk in with a picture of the latest do you want , she'll frankly tell you if it's going to be too high maintenance or simply won't look good on you. She suggests good cuts and always mixes the perfect color. I've had people stop me to compliment my hair and ask for my hair sylist's card on three different occasions, which makes me all the more confident in Gayle's abilities. \r \r I've never had a bad cut or color with Gayle and after four years, that speaks volumes. OMG I have had the absolute worst experience with Ginger. This is the WORST haircut I have ever gotten. I told her I was trying to grow out my hair and she seriously cut me layers, that are short! I went home crying because now it is going to take me another 6 months to grow out what she messed up. Not to mention the haircut really is not that great either. She did not listen to anything I wanted. I told her I wanted a little bit of a face frame, nothing short, and she cut it short. \r \r She was also 15 minutes late coming in. Okay. So I wrote a bad review of this salon last November, but let me tell you -it has now changed. Previously I had a good haircut, just no the haircut for me. I asked for my money back and they obliged. Alfredo, who is the salon owner(I think) told me that I should come back and give him a try. After months of debating, I decided to do it. I gave Alfredo some pictures of hair that I liked. He said that he saw the concept that I was looking for and then cut my hair. He fixed my hair, ater cutting it, in a way that I would just never do or be able to do. I have to say that I have very fine hair which goes flat 10 minutes after fixing it. Well, I got home and the next day I fixed my hair for the first time since it was cut. It was amazing!!! I had more body and my hair just fell into place. I tried for hours to figure out how he did it. All I can say is that it was better than ever. Honestly, it was the best hair cut I have ever had (and I have had alot of haircuts). I am in love with my hair and more confident. I will be going back to Alfredo again, for sure!!!!! Pros: great stylist Cons: none right now more

My hair is dark naturally but I wear it very blonde. Anyone who has blonde hair knows you have to have a great colorist or else you will look like sh*t. Brassy, fried hair is never hot, even if you are Britney Spears. I just moved to Austin from California and was so worried about finding a colorist; thank god I found Brooke. I have job in PR and I need my hair to look Hollywood. Brooke always delivers! Even if I just go in for a wash and dry, I come out looking like Kim Kardashian. Not only does she use the best quality coloring products, she is super careful so that my hair stays healthy and on point. She will also help you pick out Shamp&Conditioner to match your specific hair needs. The colors that she chose for my low lights and highlights really compliment my skin tone and look natural. I even decided to get some extensions and they look awesome!! She colored them to match my hair and cut in some layers so you can't even tell. Even my close friends commented on my hair ""growing"" not even realizing... I still haven't told them! She always has so many ideas for stylish cuts and there are a ton of hair magazines to look at for inspiration. Bangs, no bangs, the break-up chop, short cuts, long layers... Brooke has hooked it up. I am not kidding, she knows her industry. She will also notice the mistakes of another stylist (oops... I cheated out of desperation)! One thing you can count on, is that she very honest and won't let you leave Aqua Blue until your hair looks great. She does such a good job I always give her an extra $20... Before you leave, make sure you meet Alfredo... the s*xy owner of Agua Blue... look for his spicy black hair and hot glasses... Pros: Talented, Professional, Creative, Entertaining, On-point Cons: Pricey, but totally worth every penny more

I've been dying my hair black from a box for almost twenty years, and was starting to get tired of the color as well as the trouble of getting the color, going home, praying I didn't get dye on anything other than my hair, and all the other fun at home dye acutramal. I'd gone to some place at the mall where they were extremely rude to me saying that black dye cannot be taken out and even if they did, it'd look horrible. I'm sure it would have if I'd let THEM do it. I was going to give up and just let it grow out hideously, until I remembered I'd gone to Aqua Blue a year prior and really enjoyed it. Also I recall they did crazy colors and feisty cuts, so I figured if they can get the colors in there, they should know how to get them out again! Robert had cut my hair last time, with me only going in with a bad print out photo of some TV star (don't remember) and I said ""Can you do this?"" and he said ""Yup"" spun me around in the chair a bit and TAH DAH. Perfection. So this time I went in and said... ""Can you make my hair not black anymore?"" Robert seemed almost excited at the idea, and not only said yes, but explained HOW he could, what he'd use, the effects on my hair, and how black hair dye and other dyes stick on your hair. It was like a science lesson! Robert came in on his day off and was very patient with my child-like tender headedness... not sure how else to say that. Anyhow, he was up front and honest, saying we'd do our best and that it might take more than one go at the dye remover, and I was fully informed and actually excited to participate in this very interesting process. My hair looks FANTASTIC! The entire staff is wonderful and fun, they're so accommodating and gracious. I love listening to their stories. Long story short, Robert is now the ONLY man who is allowed to touch my hair from now on... for salon purposes anyhow! Haha! I have had Cig cut my hair for 2 1/2 years, after he left Toni and Guy (and for good reason), instead of searching for him, which was a big mistake, I went to other places. They were all ""okay"" but nothing like what Cig does. so when I decided to cut 8 inches off my hair, I knew I had to find him. Like always the cut looked amazing. He is so patient, takes his time, and very talented. I highly recommend him to anyone who appreciates an outstanding, ninja level haircut and style. I have been going to Allison for years, and even after I moved away to Seattle, when I came into town, I'd harass her for a haircut. I am so lucky she is at Salon Aqua Blue now because it so close to me! I have never been one to color my hair, but I wanted something new and different so we did just a little, and I LOVED IT! I had it done a couple months ago, but I STILL look in the mirror and love it! I work nights and always go in tired, but I can close and my eyes and breathe easy (and nod off :) ) knowing that Allison is making my hair look great! more

I've always had a really hard time finding a hairdresser that does what I want. It seems like every hairdresser I have been to will completely do the opposite of the color and especially the cut I want. Allison cut my hair and I absolutely loved it! She did exactly what I asked and even offered for me to come back if there was something I didn't like or wanted to change. And a week later, she let me come back for a trim. She is really sweet and made my first experience at Aqua Blue one that will keep me coming back. I'm planning on going to her this month for a cut and color because I know she is going to make it look awesome, just in time for summer. I definitely recommend Allison if you're considering Salon Aqua Blue for your next hair appointment! more

Just wanted to take some time to recommend Allison for all hair needs. I have been going to Allison for years. She has done everything for me from new exciting cuts, color, to quick trims and even did my hair for my wedding! I have loved everythig she has done! I've tried to go to others for some cheap in between cuts and am never as happy as I am with Allison's work. I'm in need of something fresh for the summer and will be calling Allison very soon! I just want to let everyone know that if you are looking for a different hairstylist, check out Allison! I moved to south austin about a year ago and have to admit that I have tried another stylist or two during that time because of the drive, but I will for sure be making the drive to see her no matter what. Everytime I sit in her chair I feel like I have no need to worry because it always turns out the way I imagined... she takes the time to consult and suggest things about what you want and need out of your cut and color, and then shows you how to style it. I just feel so at ease when she is working on me. I love the way I feel and look when Allison is finished.
