Sahara Coins & Precious Metals

I have been to this place few times and spent enough time walking around, looking pretty much every section of the collections. 1. As someone said, good collections and no doubt the place is kept bit tidy and well labelled and so on 2.The neighborhood is great, anything on the West side of the town is great especially closer to Summerlin, so very nice location, lots of parking and decent people, so comfortable to go and see coins. 3.You got to ring the bell and wait at the door for them to open, it is ok with me but not sure if everyone will feel ok, being such a huge collection of precious metals in one place, I am sure anybody would like to be careful..? 4. People in the store, Ok not bad, you can call and talk to anyone, it is not a problem, I called up the Manager on a issue I had, he did came to the front desk to talk to me, so this is also fine. They can do little better on this human relations, they have to be more pro active and bit nice to people so that no one can say they are rude in general. Rude due to arguments and fights are a different thing, I can not say anything as I did not have such experience, so someone else might have and a good customer service is 100% problem free, if two of the five folks here rated one star, that is area Sahara coins must pay attention, I would if I own such store?. 5.My greatest disappointment is the price. I will not buy again at Sahara for just one Reason, their price is awful and unworthy to pay such a huge price as someone said 5 dollars above the spot price on silver, and 100 on gold is simply unacceptable and I feel it like a robbery, sorry? that is my feeling. 6. I received a email, as I subscribed to their announcements and offers etc, as per the email, they had an offer on Bullion silver coins (I guess Buffalo) few months ago, it said no extra charges same as spot price or something along the line, that it was an attractive invitation. When I checked the price, selling price, it was not what you see on that screen, they have their own price, and it was certainly 4 or 5 dollar above the spot price, instead of buying what I went for, just got 5 silver coins, before buying I called up the manager and asked this is not what you publicized in your email. He tried to convince me with some explanation like no tax, no extra fees and such that I was not happy, walked out with five coins, this is few months ago when the silver price was about 33 or 34? because they priced 5 dollars more, that is like priced 3-4 month a head, so when I looked at the price now it is about $41 dollar by market close, and this is what I paid few months ago, it is a terrible feeling, especially the silver and gold ran like a rocket, every few months one can make a great profit, if you just buy as an investment, it is not worth to pay Sahara Prices. Again, the manager has to work here to improve, I will not buy any more with Sahara. 7. Prices are not competitive and not reasonable, period. Let every thing be hunky dory, if the price is not good, it is not attractive to me, I do not care what else is great. that is why I can give only two star..! more

I had been there many times, not impressed at all but they had what I wanted just over spot. I spent tens of thousands of dollars there, never again. if you spend over a certain amount you are reported to the IRS, and they send a letter stating that. I lost the letter and called to get a duplicate, Cheryl was an ignoramus, I needed that to source the money to secure a loan, and she is refused to re-issue a letter they had previously sent, I called her an ignoramus and I needed to talk to a manager and she just hung up on me. I called back to talk to a manager regarding the issue, Mark who is the owner, told me in a threatening way "" come to the store and lets see what happens"", I didn't call for a fight, I just wanted a letter to source the money, these are very wealthy people who take advantage of others and get away with it, that is the only explanation for their attitude over a very little issue, questionable ethics. I wasn't unreasonable or out of line. Cheryl was simply ignorant and unwilling to help, and Mark was threatening, what was that ""come to the store""? I can defend myself but as a doctor I have a license to protect, that was totally uncalled for. They treat people like garbage and get away with it, that is how the wealthy operate with absolute power and impunity. nothing will come of this and they will continue with business as usual. more

I just found this store after moving here from Southern California. I am a very knowledgeable Coin buyer and seller having been a collector of rare coins and gold and silver for over 25 years. I have read all of the reviews on this company and after visiting Sahara Coins it has become obvious to me that some, if not all, of the negative reviews have been written by very envious competitors. This store and its employees go above and beyond with the knowledge they have. Jeff is a lifetime member of the EAC (Early American Copper Club) and loves sharing his knowledge with anyone whom asks. Mason Is and outright expert on Morgan Dollars and many other series of U.S. Coins. Mark, the owner, i found out was chosen by the State of Nevada Treasurer to appraise all of the States holdings and is the Expert of choice for the Pawnstars series on the history channel. He possesses a depth of knowledge that is the strongest i have seen in all my years dealing with some of the best Coin Stores in the country. They are the only store that plainly states their buy and sell prices for over 6oo items right there on the Projection screen inside the store. When i was in a couple of other stores in the Valley before finding Sahara Coins i would always hear the others say ""What do you want for it"" hoping of course that the customer would say a figure much less than the item is worth. I have never heard this at Sahara Coins and i have spent countless hours in this store. I have access to the entire internet and all of the by mail coin stores but i feel that Sahara Coins earns my business over and over again every time i walk in the door. They have a very nice selection but the prices are horrible. They are charging nearly $5 over spot, for silver per ounce and $100 over spot, for gold per ounce. I do not recommend you shop at this store if you value your money. You will do better on the internet. Pros: good selection Cons: Very high prices more

I have never experienced such poor service in any establishment in my life. I walked in close to closing time and there were a few people ahead of me. I waited patiently for someone to help me. Although there were several people in the office only one guy was actually working. The lady apparently went for a smoke break and when the guy working asked for some one to help me he was told - right in front of me - that no, this other guy had to go return some calls. I feel really badly for the one guy actually trying! When I confronted the manager about this rude behavior I was told that this was my problem and that he could tell I had a chip on my shoulder. I was actually planning to spend quite a lot of money in the store, buying special Christmas presents for my brand new niece and nephew, but not anymore! Will never go there again and would never recommend it to anyone! Cons: Poor Service more

I travel to Las Vegas often for business and always enjoy visiting Sahara Coins. The folks are great, the service is great, the inventory is superb and the prices are as fair as they come for the quality and grade. I had collected as a child and recently decided to start collecting again, but this time strictly for investment purposes. I am a lifelong Las Vegan and quite familiar with run of the mill coin shops, swap meets, jewelers and pawnbrokers who sell coins and bullion. Upon walking into the Sahara Coins store though, I was in complete awe of the sheer size of the store. I was equally impressed with the variety and assortment of coins for sale. The huge inventory consisted of raw and slabbed coins, key and semi-key coins which is my personal preference. Since I am re-entering coin collecting at a later stage of life, I was very happy to discover that they offer quite an inventory of complete sets of pennies; nickels and dimes which helped me to jump start my collection. They did not have for sale problem coins, so I felt confident in the integrity of the store and the quality of their coins. I had expressed an interest in some coins which were not in their current inventory and they were happily willing to find what I was looking for and hold it until my next visit. The sales people were extremely patient and polite and very informative. All other stores in Las Vegas pale in comparison to Sahara Coins. I would highly recommend this store to anyone I know who is considering buying coins or investing in their future. I brought some gold in to be refined. They told me on the phone that sending it out through them was the ""best"" ""safest"" way to have it refined and get paid for it. I was told it would take about 7 days. 18 days and several phone calls later, they are telling me that it is not refined yet. They can't give me an idea of when it might be done. They can't call the company to find out this information. They can't (""will not"" was the term they used) call the refinery to ask them to just send the gold back to me so that I can bring it some place else. They don't want to hear the fact that since I haven't been paid for the gold, it is not theirs. When the owner got on the phone he said there was nothing he could do for me and that I should call my attorney. He was rude, argumentative and finally hung up on me. I would be very careful about any transactions you might consider doing with them. more

I cannot stop raving about Sahara Coins to all my friends and family. Just the other week I took my sons out for the day to hang out. We went to a few coin stores in town to see if i could get my sons a morgan dollar to start their collection. Every where we went seemed to have either too little to choose from or the prices were astronomicle. Then we found Sahara Coins, their selection was amazing and their prices were extremely fair. Nothing in town compares to it, and the staff there is awesome. They definitely made the day fun for me and my boys. more

I just got back from Sahara coins, the store seemed very nice as well as the people compared to other shops why because there prices are highway robbery. They sqeeze the consumer on buying and selling offering horid prices compared to others in town. Use ebay, not these guys. Cons: high prices more

I needed to sell a 1oz gold coin and Sahara Coins paid the most by a long shot! The staff really know their business and they are so helpful and friendly. I was amazed at the amount of inventory they have and all the neat & unusual collectibles. They even have coins and old paper money in the floor! Pros: Huge inventory with honest and fair people. Recently I visited Sahara Coins and Collectables and I was really impressed with the store. They had a wide selection of coins, bullion, bank notes and various other collectables as well as supplies for each. I picked up a few supplies and a 2008 silver eagle. The only bad thing I have to say is when i tried to return the following Thursday to show a friend of mine the store they didnt let us enter because they said they had a private collection showing. I had purchased some ""silver panda"" coins from E-Bay. There are a lot of counterfeits out there so I wanted my coins looked at. I took them here and the dealer I spoke to took careful measurements and weighed them for me. Gave me his appraisal that they appeared to be authentic. Then he showed me some similar coins that I might be interested in and gave me a great price. Pros: Great customer service! more
