Keep in mind that I am reviewing this location only! The staff there is...well...not so good. I also hate their plastic bags. They are flimsy and just disintegrate the minute I pick them up.
On a recent visit, I purchased some pea pods (the fresh ones that you bag yourself in the produce department). Side by side in the case were the empty pods and those with the peas in them--both for the same price. Since I like both, and they were identical in price, I tossed several handfuls of each into the same bag. Apparently, that is a major faux pas--for inventory purposes (I was told by the clerk. at checkout) I apologized for the mistake (and it WAS a mistake, it's not like I sit up at night plotting ways for Safeway's demise by co-mingling their peas!). This was not enough, for the sales clerk and the bagger proceeded to open my bag and go through and separate them!! With their bare hands!Yeah--the ones that touch everyone's money first! I was so in shock that I didn't even say anything. I was also embarrassed as the folks behind me in line had obviously not planned on waiting for pea separation! Needless to say, I came home and practically bleached the things before eating them!
Why I still purchased them I didn't know, but like I said--I was shocked into silence.
On another occasion, upon handing the clerk a few coupons (4-5 at most) she apparently couldn't recall my purchasing a certain item for which I had a coupon, so she made the bagger go through about 8 bags of groceries (looking suspicious the entire time) until she found the item in question, even though I assured her I HAD bought the item. I felt vindicated that I was in the right and then walked out wondering why the Safeway clerk's opinion of my honesty mattered!! (She could have just as easily checked the register tape and saved me the awkwardness of feling like a criminal!)
They are in serious need of sensitivity training at this location!
