This man took several thousand dollars of mine to start a engine build and at first kept telling me he was having trouble getting parts. Now he wont talk to me only his employees answer the phone.I personally think he is a scam artist . more

I don't know where to begine , should have read reviews before I waited decades to finally be able to order w NEW engine built by Steve. The absolute worst business experience of my life, bar none. What a fool I feel like. paid 100% up front was my first mistake, #2 was believing what I was told by everyone that works there. 3-4 weeks has turned into 18 months of BS. He has an attorney on retainer who is also his CPA? Why, he has 30K of my cash I cannot believe he does this to fellow racers an now I had to dig into my pocket to get an attorney to sue this Assh#@! to get my own money back, This man has zero integrity, who does this and opens his doors everyday. He is running a Ponzio scheme. plain and simple, 30K over a year and 1/2 go anywhere but here, I have been told people thought he would be shut down for this crap years ago more

If anyone has had a horrible experience with Steve Schmidt please call me. I am compiling individuals to be included in a class action law suit against Steve Schmidt and his company Steve Schmidt Racing Engines. I have seen approximately seven other individuals from three different different websites that Mr Schmidt has stolen money from. Mounting from $1000, $18,000 up to as much as $36,000. Steve Schmidt had over a year to return my money and he refused. He has my engine and my money. Worst purchase I have ever made and worst person I have ever done business with.. I cannot believe anyone could practice business in such a manner. Steve Schmidt is an absolute thief, he is the definition of a criminal. Steve Schmidt should be in jail.. more

Worst consumer experience of my life. I don't even know where to start. My hellish journey began September 2019. One broken promise after another. 1. Steve Schmidt said he would have me a motor in two to four weeks, it took five months. 2. Never returns phone calls (including phone calls from The Indiana Attorney Generals Office) and is always at the other end of the shop, short staffed or too busy to call me back, response is "call back tomorrow". 3. Ran my credit card with out my permission on January 3rd 2020 for $8500. 4. Engine had no dipstick, wrong distributer, and an external oil filter which I did not ask for. 5. I was told the engine would ship out January 13th 2020 only to find out that he shipped it five weeks later. 6. Far from a drop in engine! Not even close! Huge oil pan that hit cross member and external oil filter. 7. Engine leaked oil in 6 different locations, two areas around oil pan, harmonic balancer, rear main seal, freeze plugs on back of the engine and distributer area. 8. Engine leaked coolant in two locations between both heads and intake manifold. 8. Engine would not make oil pressure, oil pressure fluctuated from zero to sixty pounds. 9. After shutting engine off, oil can be heard loud and clear draining from the valley back into the old pan (sounded like water dripping on the ground). 10. Poor craftsmanship and service. Very sad situation. I used to watch Steve race as a child in admiration and this is how our relationship ends in absolute disappointment and deceit. There were many more problems than what I have outlined. To this day over one and a half years later Steve Schmidt has my engine and my $18,000. Mr. Steve Schmidt lacks absolute integrity. The worst experience of my life. I can't imagine a consumer experience getting any worse. Mr. Schmidt has stolen $18,000 from me. Steve Schmidt knows what he has done and is not honest enough to admit his wrong doings. Steve Schmidt still owes me just under $1000 in parts that did not come with my engine. I would not recommend buying anything from him. I do not know how he can live with his conscience. He always tells his employees to tell you that he is either not there or that he is busy and can't come to the phone. If he is not there as much as I was told, it's no wonder that it took years to get my engine like the other person said. I bought an engine that cost over $30,000 and got a handwritten receipt without all of the parts listed and no part numbers. What a joke!!! more

As the title states, Steve Schmidt stold $35,994.00 from me. I ordered and paid for a 427 Dart LS NEXT² engine with Dart 10° 368cc CNC Heads two years ago, January 2017 and I have not received anything from him. He will not take my calls or answer my emails.
