If you like a steak that is pricy and tastes like butter than eat at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Pros: nice ambience, good bread, good salad Cons: buttery tasting steak, hig...

Great filet 12/18/2002

As usual, their meat is a cut above the normal place and the service well trained. I find they are extremely good at cooking steaks to order (this isn't consistant at many local steak houses), especially their filet mignon. Pros: Good steak house, romantic, valet parking more

The best night of my life... 12/1/2002

Not only did I take my boyfriend to Ruth Chris's for his birthday back in May, but we loved it so much that I chose Ruth Chris's as the resturaunt to get down on one knee and ask him to marry me! And yes I am a woman! Faboulous food and atmoshphere! I am even giving a gift certificate to my parents for Christmas! more

A Cut Above? 11/26/2002

You're not going here for a great Vegetable Casserole. You'll dig deep into your pocket book and pony up some serious $ to eat here. So, the food better be great! I'm not sure it was THAT great. The Steaks were excellent. That's all you need to know. You're not going here to order anyting else. Pros: Steaks Cons: $$$$$ more

My favorite 11/22/2002

One of my favorite steak places in The City. Always good food and service. Use valet parking! more

Most $$$ least favorite 11/8/2002

I will never eat here again. I do not mind paying $$$$ for a great meal, but the food was less than average. Claime Jumpers in Concord has better steaks and food for alot less $$$$! more

Give me a break 11/5/2002

My wife and I ate here recently and were both turned off by the attitude of the staff. I'm not sure what they are trying to prove. Next time I think I'll stick to my favorite, Izzy's. It's more in tune with the spirit of our great little city. Cons: phony attitude more

If it's good enough for Jack.. 10/29/2002

If it's good enough for Jack Nicolson, a regular at the Beverey Hills Ruth's Chris, it's good enough for me! Juicy tender, melt in your mouth steaks with equally delicious side dishes. more

Love It! 10/20/2002

Great Food, Great Service! I just wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often. Cons: parking more

Best Ribeye I ever had! 10/6/2002

I first tried Ruth's Chris when I was on vacation in Palm Springs and I could not believe hope good they're steaks are, USDA prime! You just can't beat that, plus the fact that you can hear the steak sizzling when it's being brought to you. Be warned, the food is very hot when it gets to you, just the way I like it! Well since I live an a couple of hours from the Bay Area I just had to try Ruth's Chris again. The same great steak and the same great atmosphere! I just have to make a reservation soon! Pros: Great food!, Valet parking!, Not too crowded! Cons: A little hard to find more

alright 10/6/2002

went there after hearing all the hype....."best steak house in the city," food and service were great, but not the best steak house in the city. would definately recomment to anyone tho. more

Awesome food, great restaurant 10/2/2002

My experience at Ruth's Chris was fantastic. They have a nice bar area with live music while you wait for your table. I ordered a chicken dish and could not get over how delicious it was. I took my boyfriend there for a present for his birthday, our bill was about $100 for a 4-course meal, but it was worth it!!! Pros: Food Cons: Parking more

In a class by itself 9/12/2002

I have never had a better filet anywhere else. The service was outstanding. The creme brulee was wonderful. Anyone who posts negative comments about the quality of the food is flat out wrong. There is no question that they are pricey, but it is well worth it! more

Great overpriced food...weak service 9/4/2002

Went to Ruth's Chris on 8/31/02. I was looking forward to it after having been to other good steak places in SF. The food was quite good and deserves their reputation for good flavors. But they lose points when it came to service. Having never eaten there, the waiter should have informed us that side portions were rather large and that we did not need to order two per person. My group of 5 wasted alot of food and money as a result. Also given the large portions I informed the waiter we wanted some of the items to go, he then proceeded to throw the items away. He replied he had not heard us. For the price I would eat elsewhere, Izzy's or House of Prime Rib being to great SF alternatives. Pros: Good food, Easy parking, Nice atmosphere Cons: Over priced, Bad service more

McDonalds of Steak 8/14/2002

This place used to be decent. Now it seems to be suffering from the problems of a chain. That is, service, and food quality. I'd say stick with a local place like Harris' or Izzy's. more

Very bad experience 8/11/2002

Had reservations but still waited an hour. Then they messed up our order. To make things worse, the manager just said "Sorry, I'm kind of busy right now". Cons: Rude management more

Melts in your mouth 8/9/2002

The steaks here are the best in town. I've been to this restaurant many times over a period of 13 years and it is consistently good. The service is A1. No diets allowed! more

Best Steak House Around 7/31/2002

Ruth Chris' Steak House is the best steak house that I have ever been too. The quality of food, the level of service and the ambiance is a cut above the rest. If you have to think about the price, then don't go. But if you want to be treated to first class service and have quality food while enjoying yourselves, this is the place to be. I recommend Ruth Chris' to anyone who loves Steak (and the lamb is not bad either!!). From the wine list all the way to dessert, this restaurant does not miss a beat. Pros: Great wine list, Quality Service, Wonderful Staff Cons: Reservations a MUST more

Heaven or Ruth's Chris? 7/23/2002

There are very few restaurants that never fail to live up to my expectations--this is one of them. That first bite of perfectly prepared filet never fails to make me close my eyes and wonder if it would be possible to dine every night at Ruth's Chris. While my life would be short and my arteries clogged, the experience may well be worth it! Pros: Portions, Service, Olfactory experience Cons: Noise level more
