Dream wedding 7/22/2011

It was my wedding this past weekend and I was surprised when i saw the cake!! I heard at a party about Rustika and when i tried the cake, i fell in love. i went in for a tasting appointment and ended up buying the cake right on the spot. It was a reasonable price and the wedding cake turned out perfect!!!!!! and of course it tasted even better. more

WOW! 6/8/2011

A friend recommended this bakery to me so I decided to give it a try. I instantly fell in love when I walked in. The decoration is bright and well done but the first thing that caught my eye were the cookies and cakes. They are sitting right next to you when you walk in and you cant help but drool over them. I ordered one of their authentic Mexican breakfasts (Migas espanola) at around 5PM and was very excited as they serve breakfast all day. I couldn?t help but get a slice of their white chocolate raspberry cake. Possibly the BEST cake I have ever tasted. If anyone is in the area I strongly recommend that they try this bakery. Excellent food as well as baked goods. more

Horrible Manager and worst cake decoration 3/2/2011

NEVER EVER ORDERING A CAKE FROM THEM AGAIN! When I went to pick up the cake I was SHOCKED!!!! It looked NOTHING like the picture I gave them, which the manager was holding in his hand since I left it with them. It was like a two year old made a cake with his mom. When I spoke with the manager he was defensive and SO RUDE! I was in tears because this cake was to be the highlight of the baby shower and I was pointing to the picture which the manager held in his hand and asked him if the cake looked anything like that and he had the nerve to say "" well we can do that for you if you wait another hour but it will cost you money"". WTH!!!! I was like it was never about the money, your people agreed to make me a cake to the picture and assured me and the actual product looks like crap. And since they don't refund money he gave me a $25 gift card. The cake was $180. The lady who took the order was professional and understanding, she took my order and discussed the decoration of the cake and wrote in details and I even gave a picture of what the cake should look like and she assured me with a smile that it will be made the EXACT same way. And I even told her that the price was not an issue as long as the cake was exactly to the design. more

Horrible Birthday Cake 12/26/2010

Ordered a cake for my son's first birthday. The order was supposed to include a smaller cake. The total of the 2 cakes was $325. When we went to pick-up the cake, the smaller cake was not made. Only offered a $15 refund. The cake looked good but tasted horrible. IMHO, there are much better bakeries in Houston. more

Unique Place with GREAT Food/Desserts 11/17/2010

I found out about Rustika through a good friend of mine. The first time I walked in I went straight for the desserts. They have an incredible selection of cookies and cakes. I looked through their picture albums and they also make some beautiful cakes! I am just waiting for an occasion to order one. I came for lunch and ordered their migas. They were delicious!!!!! They said that breakfast is served all day which is greaatt because I LOVE breakfast but never have time to make it at breakfast time. I definitely recommend this place! But beware it is impossible to stay away from their selection of sweets!!! more

Strawberry Cream Cake is amazing! 9/16/2010

I love Rustika! Every time I come in town I go and get the delicious empanadas! Also I order the strawberry cream cake for any and every event! It is the best cake I have ever had. I love all of the food at this bakery, and I also love how the staff is very friendly and will really work with you to get what you want. I have been in multiple times and most of the staff knows me by name and everyone is so helpful! I will definitely be going back to Rustika every time I come to town and will always go to them for important events! more

Best Bakery! 8/31/2010

Never been to a better bakery in my life. I herd about this place from a friend so I came in one afternoon for a quick pastry. Loved It! I recommended my brother to buy his wedding cake here and the cake was wonderful. Everyone asked about the cake and where he had got it. I was proud to be the one to answer that question since it was my idea. The wedding was a hit by the way. Congrats Bro! I am defiantly getting my wedding cake here no matter what the fianc? says. more

Ruined Wedding Cake 8/19/2010

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from Rustika and were VERY disappointed. We ordered a 3 tier Italian cream cake and got a 3 tier red velvet cake instead. They also got the color wrong when a color sample was given to them. We tried to contact them and never got a response so we disputed the charge with our credit card company for a small refund. The bakery told the credit card company that a refund could only be given if the cake was returned. It makes no sense for them to expect someone to return their only wedding cake on the day of the wedding. Horrible customer service! DO NOT GET YOUR WEDDING CAKES FROM HERE!! more

Rustika Cafe & Bakery 7/12/2010

On June 10th 2010, I visited Rustika Cafe to order my 40th birthday cake. Description was to be lavender fondant over the cake, with deep purple stripes and black stripes like a present and in between the purple stripes pink stripes thinner. A number 40 in the middle and lil dots and what not for decoration. Italian Cream Cake. Costing me $175.00. Upon picking up the cake on and for July 10th 2010. Not even two miles down the road and the 4 of the 40 fondant broke. After cutting into the cake, the fondant was extremely difficult to cut through and into. The cake was very dry, the bottom of both 12in round cakes were burnt, the fondant was extremely thick, and to thick to even eat, the buttercream on the cake had almost NO flavor and it was not decorated to specification. On June 12th my boyfriend took in what was left over, HALF of the cake. he explained in full detail of everything that was wrong, and proceeded to state, this will be a grave review over all the review websites. The co-ownder and wife of the owner, just looked at my boyfriend and stared. Did NOT even offer a credit, a refund, half credit for the half NOT eatten or even an appology. I am running into a lot of businesses that DO NOT practice what once used to be Standard Business Practices. This place may be good for the cafe, I would not know, but as for as professionally done cakes, THIS is a DON'T GO TO Place. Pros: Nice Establishment, cosmetically Cons: Their Professional Cakes, Fondant more

Best Migas EVER!!!!!!! 5/14/2009

My office always orders their cakes from Rustika Cafe (very delicious, btw), but I have never been to Rustika to eat before. That all changed this Mother's Day when my family and I went for breakfast. I was absolutely blown away from the moment I set foot inside. As soon as you enter you are greeted by rows and rows cookies, cakes and pastries. If you can pull yourself away from all of the sweets you can imagine, you come face to face with an amazing menu. Although they had a lunch and dinner menu, I was there for breakfast. The migas immediately caught my eye. Granted, there were many other things I wanted to try, but I consider myself a bit of a migas connoisseur. Rustika Cafe did not disappoint. A perfect combination of eggs and tortillas, the flavor was a warm embrace. It got better with every bite. The plate comes with a slice of toast that is baked in-house. The portion was plentiful yet not overwhelming. The eggs were perfectly cooked so as to melt with each bite. Rustika Cafe has the most delicious migas I have ever had. If you haven't had the opportunity to experience breakfast at Rustika Cafe, you are missing out. I recommend the migas! Pros: Divine breakfast menu more

Has outsatanding bill and not willing to pay 4/10/2009

We came out on 5/30/7 & 5/31/7 to work on the air conditioning unit. The bill was $1,623.47 and they made a payment of $623.47 but will not pay the remainder. The motor itself was $641.25, labor was $858.50 and the tax was $123.72. The customer was advised I would write a review via email as they will not accept or mail. In addition, they will not return phone calls. I suggest if you perform work for this company, you get the money up front. Pros: N/A Cons: Owe's us $1,000.00 from 6/5/7 more

great place 3/11/2009

I called in to Rustika cafe in an attempt to organize a birthday breakfast for me and 15 of my friends. Not only did I call the day before, but I suggested a reservation a full hour before the bakery even opened. The people at Rustika cafe were insanely accommodating, going out of their way to put together a small party in little more than 12 hours notice. Needless to say, I was shocked by the friendliness of these people and their willingness to help me out. Oh, and besides the great people the food is obviously amazing! I definitely recommend Rustika cafe. Pros: accommodating staff, great food Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Rustika is the BEst 12/18/2004

I used this bakery for a party that I threw for the holidays 12/04. The owner worked with me very well and the desserts were totally awesome. They made bite size pecan tarts, lemon tarts, raspberry powdered sugar cookies, dulce de leches and the most unbelievable chocolate cake I have ever tasted. My guests raved over the quality. Each piece was more than a bite - they were generous portions. I highly recommend this bakery for all your special treats! Can't go wrong on any selection. Pros: Great service more

***** 9/8/2004

I recently went Rustika Cafe & Bakery for the first time.I was surprised by the wide array of baked goods and breads. The breakfast they serve is delicious...especially the breakfast taquitos. They have all kinds of empanadas that are exquisite and the cake was extrordinary! I'm lucky I live around the corner...but even if I didn't I'd definitely go out of my way to come to Rustika. They also have extended hours which I'm quite excited about! It's always nice to have a place like this for after dinner. Did I mention the great service? Go and see for yourself! Pros: Delicious, Authentic, Great service more
