A family affair 11/15/2008

Upon walking in, you are immediatly caught up in the family atmosphere between the customers and the staff. A cozy dining area next to the open kitchen area, gave the holiday feel of sitting at the kitchen table while the family prepared a meal. It was obvious that the place was seeing lots of repeat business (always a good sign). Even though there was no delivery, the line of pick up orders was un-ending. We had Pizza and salad. The large salad was big enough for four, with fresh sliced cheese. The pizza was the thinnest I have ever had. In times of heatlth and diet, it was a welcome change. We found it crisp and evenly cooked without the extra dough filler. Toppings were plentiful. No tomato topping however. We saw others getting pasta. The single portions looked huge. I think the regulars knew something that we didn't. Pros: FOOD,SERVICE, VALUE Cons: Small parking more

best pizza ever 4/22/2008

I have been enjoying Rubino's pizza all of my 55 years of life. Every time I come home for a visit.Usually after the Bexley 4th of July parade.I sit on the corner of Pleasant Ridge and Mound street(where our house used to be)and just enjoy the day,But the day wasn't complete, nor the visit without a trip to Rubino's.My favorite was the pepperoni.I have even got my husband who was a pizza hut lover realy looking forward to our visits home and Rubino's. I miss the old crew though!!! Glad there are so may Rubino's fans out there. Pros: very great atmosphere and terrific pizza Cons: no cons more

Rubino's was a blast from the past 4/14/2008

When I was in Jr. High (Eastmoor & Johnson Park) THE place to go after a dance or football game was Rubino's. I moved from Columbus to St. Louis in 1964, but returned for the first time after 42 years to attend the 40 year reunion of the class I would have graduated with had I remained in Ohio. It was great to see friends after all that time, but I have to admit that dinner at Rubino's was the highlight of the trip. I was sure my memories of the atmosphere and especially the pizza had been blown out of proportion after all that time of dreaming about them, but when I walked through the door it was like stepping into the early 60's. EVERYTHING was the same. Well, okay, they did have an updated Coke machine. The one I remember was a big chest and when you lifted the lid all the different brands of soda (pop) were there for the taking. However many Cokes you drank was determined by the honor system so I'm sure they lost money on it. And the boothes had been re-upholstered, but other than that it was EXACTLY as I remembered. Even the smell was the same. Imagine my anticipation when my large pepperoni pizza was set before me as I sat in the exact same booth I had eaten my last Rubino's pizza in over 40 years ago. I closed my eyes and savored the aroma. With eyes still closed I took my first bite. Apparently I hadn't learned anything in the ensuing 40 years because I immediately burned the roof of my mouth just like I always did back then. My memories had not exagerated a thing. The taste was exactly the same as I remembered it. I found myself almost crying over a pizza. I know how silly it sounds for a man who is almost 60 years old to get that emotional over a pizza, but Rubino's is THAT good. In my 60 years I have lived all over the country and traveled to foreign lands, but I have NEVER eaten better pizza than I've had at that tiny little shop that is still stuck in time. Rubino's was, is, and always will be the BEST pizza in the world. Pros: Inexpensive, comfortable family atmosphere, what a pizza parlor used to be like (and still should) Cons: Most young people today think only Pizza Hut and Domino's make real pizza and because of that they might not like Rubino's. That's their loss... more

Still a great place to get pizza! 3/13/2008

Wonderful memories. Went to Rubino's after football games, after dances. Still has the same atmosphere. Pros: Fond memories, great pizza more

Rubino's Remembered 2/12/2008

Growing up in Columbus was highlighted by trips to Rubino's every Friday night. I have moved out of state and miss the sausage pizza so much! No other pizza matches this! The only reason I am on this site is to see if I can get a pie Fed-exed to CT. Help! Pros: Sausage pizza Cons: None in CT more

THE BEST PIZZA ON PLANET EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12/21/2007

Seriously, those who choose to rate this pizza with (1) star are the same people who voted for GWB. This pizza is THE BEST!!!! Pros: The best pizza you'll ever have more

Best pizza on planet 7/25/2007

Forgot to say they have great salads too. Mr Rubinowitz had this big black moustache and scribbled all the orders on a yellow legal pad. Pros: pizza more

Simply the Best ! 7/24/2007

As a Rubino's customer for nearly five decades, I have never found a better tasting pizza anywhere...just the right blend of a cracker-thin crispy crust, zesty pepperoni and delicious cheeses along with a dash of nostalgia mixed in. Rubino's hasn't changed much since the early 1960's and the locals don't want it to. It is still in it's original location and the interior still looks 1965. Every week or two I pine for the taste that only Rubino's can satisfy, so I find a reason to make the hour-long drive back to my hometown of Bexley. If you are ever in central Ohio and want the tastiest pizza that can be found, then make your way to Rubino's on East Main Street. Nothing fancy, just a superior tasting and first rate pizza. Pros: Flavor, atmosphere, price, fast service Cons: Closed on Mondays more

sauce on cardboard 5/14/2007

its not terrible pizza, but u can get the same thing from donatos. sauce is not sweet at all, which is what italian pizza is supposed to be. kind of a run down building and service is very slow. i went to nearby college and had to go there on occassion, but would not choose to go there on my own. Pros: never busy, house dressing Cons: paper thin crust, sauce, service more

Average Pizza 8/26/2006

An OK pizza, but nothing special. They were not airconditioned so it was hot inside. The service is poor. With an order of coke you will get a can and a straw thrown on the table. Did not live up to the other reviews. more

The ONLY Pizza that desires to be called a PIZZA 7/10/2006

The worst part of leaving Columbus for rural Mississippi was leaving behind our family who now own and operate Rubino's. We don't return to Columbus with out eating there and taking some home in the coolers!! Can't wait till we get back for more, hopefully in September. The only thing bad about Mississippi is they have had the misfortune of not knowing what a real pizza is but there are a select few of us in the Jenkins family who do. more

Great food for over 45 years! 1/11/2006

I have been eating Rubino's pizza since I could first chew. In fact, my parents went there on dates back around 1960! Is family-owned, the recipies have been upheld, and both the pizza and salads are always great! This is a small, very casual place. They have always had a pinball machine for as long as I can remember, so be prepared to hear this while the kids and adults play! I just wish Dayton weren't so far away from this great restaurant. Pros: Great Food, Friendly Staff, Longtime Tradition Cons: Can get noisy more

The Best 1/4/2006

I grew up in Circleville Ohio. I am now 44 and my family has been going to Rubinos since before I was born. It is simply the best pizza we have ever eaten. The trip to Bexley is well worth it. Their sauce and crust are unlike anything I have tasted, and I live in Dallas now. I have searched this town from top to bottom looking for pizza this good to no avail. When I come back home on vacations, a trip to Rubinos is always a mandatory stop. Keep up the good work guys, and don't change a thing! Pros: Best pizza, Price Cons: Parking more

This is the place to go 12/29/2005

My grandfather lived a stones throw from Rubino's and I grew up on the stuff. My father ate there when it first opened. 2 generations later it's still the best and we will be eating there for many more generations. I dont even think of it as Pizza anymore. I think of it as an essential part of my happiness. Call me crazy. Sincerely, Crazy more

I've been going to Rubinos since the 70's and very little has changed in the last thirty years. The same people work there, the same friendly clientele frequents there, and best of all, they serve up the same great pizza there. If you like a superb thin crust pizza, don't miss out on this one. If I'm lyin I'm dyin! Pros: delicious, convenient, old style more

I had a better pizza in Naples, Italy.. 8/8/2003

But not in America. Simple, perfect pizza. No gimmicky ""pesto chicken alfredo - cheese stuffed crust"" on this menu. No need to try to improve on perfection. Pros: Great Pizza, Great Value, Perfect crust Cons: I live in Virginia, Pizza is cold after more

Rubinos ROCKS !!!! 7/18/2003

I live over an hour from the shop but, I will tell you this it is worht the drive !!! I don't understand how it is not the best pizza in Columbus. Best service, best flavor come on folk it is just tops ! Pros: Best service, Best price, Best taste Cons: Not one in my town more

Bexley's Best 8/8/2002

I live in Circleville, Oh which is quite a ways from Rubino's, but I love their pizza so much I drive up there almost every weekend to eat their pizza and I always take one home so that I can have Rubino's for breakfast the nest morning. I've always hated sausage on pizza because its aways greasy and tatses like cardboard but Rubino's makes their own sausage and its thin and sliced just like the pepperoni. If you've tried all the rest now you can go to Rubino;s and try the best. Pros: Sausage, Fast Service, Friendly Service Cons: Usually full of peopl, no fountain pop more
