Royal Custom Tailor

An absolute nightmare. Avoid at all costs. I paid $100 in advance for alterations to a beautiful white silk dress. When I arrived on the agreed upon date to pick it up, it had not been worked on! The tailor insisted that the date was the day before - finally accepted reality. I was in a horrible bind and he agreed to do it for the following morning right before I had to leave town. I show up and try on the dress the next day and only 1 of the 2 critical alterations were made. He shortened the sleeves but did not use this fabric to make the bust larger. Obviously it was still pulling and looked horrible and he tried to make out like it was fine. WTF?! I left very angry and have since discovered that there are blue ink pen stains around the area where he hemmed the sleeves. NEVER go here. He's totally lost it. more

I always have a hard time finding a perfect fitting dress so I end up not buying any. Well I decided that I would just have to get one altered so it would fit me right. I ma very narrow in the waist but I have wide hips so things end up being loose in the middle. So i came here because my sister always has her dresses altered. They did such a beautiful job and it fit me perfectly. And it only took them three days to complete the process. The price for the alteration was 12 dollars so that was great. more

Tucked away in little Juniper street, just off Walnut and smack in the middle of Center City, is Royal Custom Tailor. The service here is FANTASTIC. You are immediately greeted by the tailor himself. Besides making custom men's suits, he also takes on smaller jobs - hemming and the such. He has a great eye and is not afraid to make suggestions regarding length and fit. I've had pants, suits, and even a coat altered here, with great and quick results every time. more
