Had stopped up Kitchen stand pipe in the St. Louis area. After being unsuccessful in clearing it up, I called Roto-Rooter (RR) and an appointment was set up to commence within an hour.
The RR plumber, Bill A., called within 15 minutes informing me he was on the way and would be there in about 1/2 hour.
Upon his arrival, he assessed the situation, that it really was the standpipe, and gave me an estimate for cleaning out either from the clean-out trap in the basement or from the roof. Preferred the roof even though it was slightly more expensive, because we would not have to move a lot of stuff nor worry about any mess due to the cleanout.
Since it had been over five years since we had our main line cleaned, Bill gave me an estimate for that job and I gave him the go-ahead.
Both jobs were completed within the estimated time and all drains are running smoothly. It was a good thing we had the main cleaned, as there were many new roots which had started to clog it over five years, even though we had the major culprit, a Maple tree, removed 4-5 years ago.
I also purchased a gallon bottle of Roto-Rooter Drain Cleaner as I was running low on the previous gallon I had bought several years before. If I had used the drain cleaner as regularly as should have, I may not have need the pipe cleaning.
The good part about the cost was that the second job was discounted 20% and I also received a 10% senior citizen discount.
I have used RR several times in the past and all their plumbers have been very professional. Also, they stand by their guarantees, even when the Maple wouldn't cooperate.
