One of the best fired chicken that I've ever eaten. The waffles are crispy and not soggy. Dipping the chicken and waffle into the maple syrup, just puts it over the top. Salty and sweet, breakfast with dinner, just too good. more

Great Lunch Spot 2/9/2007

My friends and I came here for a leisurely lunch, just to chat and get caught up on life's details. The service was nice, the atmosphere was intimate enough, and the food was great. My friends and I ended up eating off each other's plates because the portions were that big and the selections among us were a bit diverse. The wings there are GREAT and the side orders are seasoned well. All in all, I'll definitely be back soon. more

Heart attack on a plate, but worth it every once in a while 11/17/2006

This place has really good fried chicken, waffles, corn bread, macaroni and cheese, greens, grits, eggs, lemonade, potato salad, etc.... I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all yummy. The service at times is questionable, but usually friendly. I like the ambience at the Gower location better, but this one is way larger which means the wait is usually way shorter. Pros: Food, Prices Cons: Ambience more

The fried chicken and waffles are great; the food is simple, which is the way we like it. The place gets crowded on the weekends; we try to go on the ""off"" peak hours. more

It's ok, but southern? i don't know... 1/12/2006

I was born and raised in Georgia, so i was expecting a lot from the famed Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, but to my dismay, it fell short of expectations. Growing up on southern food, i know what good soul food tastes like. The Chicken was actually pretty good and would get an above average rating, however, the rest of the food (side dishes and such) was well below average (hence the average rating)... Roscoe's is ok, but only if you're willing to spend some extra $$$ Pros: Chicken, Service Cons: Expensive, Side Dishes more

I Often Crave Their Chicken! 10/29/2005

I just moved from TX and I was introduced to this place from a friend and love it so much. Be sure to get your chicken with gravy - it's dry without it! And definitely get the waffles - to die for! This is an amazing place that I will take friends from out of town. Please don't miss out on it! The only downside is that it's somewhat overpriced for what you get. But I still pay the premium cuz I love it so much. Pros: FOOD Cons: price. more

The Best Southern Cuisine 6/22/2005

When I first heard about eating fried chicken with waffles, I thought the idea was preposterous! I was dead wrong. The crispy, juicy chicken meshes well with the gigantic warm waffles drizzled with syrup and spread with creamy butter. The mac and cheese is yummy as well! The proportions are huge so save room in your stomach before you go. I love this place! I highly recommend it. Pros: Service, Comfort food Cons: Price more

Amazingly good!!! 6/5/2005

I was visiting LA for a few days and wanted to try the place. I drove by the locations in LA and the neighborhoods looked scary, so we opted to take a trip to Pasadena to check it out. It was a 15 minute ride out of the city and was located in a quaint neighborhood. We were seated promptly and our fantastic waitress recommended a couple specialty drinks, mixtures of lemonade/ice tea and fruitpunch/lemonde. So good. The waffles were the best I ever tasted. Almost like funnelcakes with syrup. Scrambled eggs with onions rocked. So did the mac and cheese and cornbread. Both so good. Chicken was nice too, but I loved the sides and waffles best. Nice atmosphere, but got a bit loud with groups as it got later. Bathroom was clean. I will come back next time in LA. Soul food at it's best! Pros: great food, nice atmosphere, fast, friendly servic more

Homestyle waffles 3/8/2005

This was the first time I ever had fresh homestyle waffles. The waffles were succulant. Definetaly putting Eggo's to shame! The mixture of Chicken, gravy, and syrup formed a trifecta of titilating taste! What a mixture! It was a manaje trois for the senses! I suggest going here on an empty tank, as you will leave as stuffed as a moose through taxidermy. The service is top notch and really made me feel at home. The only gripe was that seating was limited. The dozen people in my party had to cuddle together at a medium sized table. Thankfully the service more than made up for it! Pros: Waffles Cons: Seating more

Where's my chicken? 9/27/2004

I'm not sure how they got waffle, syrup and fried chicken mixed up on a plate, but the chicken tasted pretty good. One problem, they should call it ""Syrup Fried Chicken"" instead. I can't figure out who can enjoy such good fried chicken swimming in syrup. The biggest minus is the smallest pieces chicken you get for about...$9 bucks? Well, I should travel far and stick to my usual favorite...""Dinah's Chicken"" in Los Feliz/Glendale. Pros: good chicken Cons: , syrup with chicken more

Classic 9/5/2003

I go to the Roscoes in Pasadena when I'm in L.A... I'm living in Philly right now - last time I came to visit, eating Roscoes was like eating health food - seriously.. A lot of people are not Roscoe's fans.. but the chicken is the closest I've had to my grandmothers from a restaurant.. Since I also love sweets, the waffles with the vanilla, cinnamon, whatever they put in them, drenched in syrup, are a must-have guilty pleasure.. My friends love the sides, but I'll go to my grandmother's for those.. they're not a ""Con"", but they're sufficient and nothing more.. Pros: Chicken, Waffles more

Good Eatin' 7/18/2002

When you first tell people about Roscoe's who have never eaten there, they think you're crazy. ""Fried Chicken and Waffles??"". Ooohhh yeah, it's good. This place is a wonderful indulgence. Other than the fried chicken and waffles, I recommend the smothered potatoes or the red beans and rice. Pros: Food Cons: Crowded at lunch more

Hard to believe....... 7/3/2002

that this place is so well known and that most people actually like the food. First of all, I won't eat at a place that I can't change something in the order. Their potatoes come with gravy (mixed in), you can't order potatoes without the gravy. The waffles are far from good to me. They're thick and doughy, I prefer them thin and crisp. Well, lucky for them there is only one of me and that lots of people I know love this place. As for me, I won't be going back. more

Waffles + Chicken = Darn Good Lunch 6/28/2002

I didn't think waffles and fried chicken would mix. But I was sadly mistaken, my friend. I believe I ate the waffles first, heavily buttered and lightly syruped, and then dug into the fried chicken. Something about all those flavors just works. more

Roscoe's is the BOMB 6/27/2002

Have u ever had chicken with waffles? If not U MUST!!! The taste is unbelievable... a marriage put 2gether with precision by ROSCOE's i love this place more

Bird, Beans, and yes, Waffles, just one 5/20/2002

I don't like waffles, and I still don't, even after scarfing down one of Roscoe's big, thick, round ones, no extra butter, no syrup. I used it to sop up the juice from my rice and beans, after I'd eaten the half-chicken. The service was fine, though they couldn't fill my glass of iced tea fast enough. more

I don't get it 5/19/2002

I know this chain is an LA landmark, but why do people think fried chicken and waffles are best if served together? The side dishes are good Southern offerings, but frankly I prefer Popeyes fried chicken. Either way expect an artery clogging meal. Pros: southern food, no wait Cons: dingy, nothing healthy more
