Editorial review from Citysearch 3/20/2014

After a referral to Dr. Pierce when our regular veterinarian was unavailable, we were greatly disappointed with the lack of compassion demonstrated by Dr Pierce. Our healthy cat's condition deteriorated speedily over the course of a week and we knew she needed to be put down. Dr. Pierce chose the moment of this difficult decision to deliver the social message of ""regular veterinary care"" by assuming that we did not care for the health needs of our pet, and further claiming that we could have prevented terminal infection with regular veterinary exams. In the off-chance that a regularly scheduled veterinary exam fell within 2 weeks prior to our fateful visit, I still do not condone the moment of termination as an appropriate time to shame and guilt clientele. Needless to say, we do not recommend this doctor to anyone and will be happily returning to our regular veterinarian with warnings of our veterinary referral experience. more

These vets say they treat your pet as if it were there own! That is a out right bold face pile of hog wash! Competent, caring advocates of your pets welfare more hog wash. This is a corporate office that is only concerned about how much money they can pull in. They are very over priced, cold and unprofessional. We have a 20 year old dog that the clinic had been seeing for years (and spending hundreds a month). They were pretending to be our support team. These people dropped the ball on us and would not give our dog the medication that he was used to taking and that helped him with the vertebrae touching in his neck. We called the pharmacy in the morning and placed the order for the prescriptions. One was for a urinary track infection and the other was a muscle relaxer. The girl from the pharmacy called and left a message saying that they were changing the antibiotic (for the urinary track infection)and if we had questions to call back. Never said that they were not refilling the pain medication the dog needed. When we went to pick it up on Friday we were told Oh Well TOO Bad The Dog has to come in for us to give you this same medication that we have been giving you for months. Oh and guess what not until Monday. So the 20 year old dog would suffer until Monday, does that sound like a pet they would treat as there own? Sounds to me as if they just could not be bothered. We were not happy and let them know as much and then they called the sheriff. I have referred people to them in the past and now I am back tracking and telling these people DO NOT GO THERE. You know how they say you get what you pay for?Sometimes you just get over charged for what you get. Do Not Go to this office. Find people who do care about you and your pet. SHAME,SHAME SHAME on all of the staff involved in this total oversight. We had to figure it out on our own how to keep the dog comfortable for the week end. We called again on Monday to talk to the vet we usually see and he said we were not welcome back into the office. The only reason we called was because we were more worried about our dogs well being with a vet that knew his problems and we were eating crow and not worried about ourselves. Big Mistake. This doctor who always advocated that the dog should ""Die with his boots on at home"",now was saying he could recommend someone to euthanize him. I say Go straight to hell! Does this sound like a competent caring advocate for your pets welfare. Save your money and find a clinic that truly does care about you and your pet family. Not one that sold there soul to the company store. more

BEST veterinarians in NE Ohio!! 10/18/2011

My dog is my baby and all the vets here understand that. They are slightly pricy but the service is so great it's worth it. My dog was crying hysterically one night, I panicked and took him to the ER in Mentor. What a nightmare!! I knew something was hurting on his face but wasn't sure what. After they "tested" my dog (which is a complete horror story in itself) I rushed him to Madison the next morning. The ER had told me he "probably got stung by something" which I didn't believe. Within 10 seconds of the vet looking at him she realized he had a giant ulcer in his eye that was incredibly painful! They fixed him up and now he's fine but had we not gone there he would've been stuck in tremendous pain with me thinking it was a bee. I love this vet and will continue to use them as long as they're in business :) more

UNHAPPY all around 1/31/2011

Not only are the people in the front unfriendly and unprofessional. But one of the Dr's messed up my dogs leg and they would not refund the cost of the service to fix it. The Dr was rude over the phone and accused us of wrong doing in an attempt to save his ass. more

saved my mastiff 3/11/2010

I called North Ridge Veterinary because my puppy was feeling ill on a Thursday. They got us in the same day, called us the next day to see how he was. Then by the next Tuesday he had not made much improvement. After calling first thing in the morning, I got in to see Dr. Pierce right away, he and his staff were caring, understanding and had the best bedside manner for my sick pup that I have ever seen!!! Finding out that my 6 week old mastiff needed a serious surgery rerouting his urinary system completely, Dr. Pierce made his surgery as affordable as he could and the very next day got him in for surgery and saved my little guy's life. To the doctors and staff of North Ridge Veterinary- Thank you more

Northridge Veterinary Hospital is Top Notch! 8/20/2009

Between myself and immediate family, we take 13 cats to NorthRidge. We have been there for numerous emergencies, as well as annual visits for a few years. We drive from Mentor (where there are countless vets) to Madison, .... as the saying goes "It is worth the drive". I have always been more than pleased. The care the animals receive is above what I expect. I recommend North Ridge to everybody who needs a vet. The vets and "vet techs" are very caring and compassionate. more

Crappy administrative policy 10/10/2008

I do agree that the care my pets have received throughout the years has been exemplary. That said, I have moved my pets' records and care to another vet because they refused a request to forward a prescription to PetMeds.com. It is my right as a consumer to have them do this on my pet's behalf. They would be happy to give me a written prescription that I could forward to whomever, but I'd have to come to the office ( a 40 mile round trip, and inconvenient for working people), and only then after I paid them a 6 dollar fee! They were not able to match the price of the internet company either. So, in effect, they put me in a lose/lose situation. I will no longer allow them the honor of caring for my dog or cat, or any future lovies to whom I might open my home. I have reported this to our state attorney general's office and the better business bureau. If you are in the market for a good vet, these folks would fill the bill, however if you are also interested in ethical veterinari more

Cyst Removal Surgery 9/2/2008

My dog needed a cyst removed from her front paw. She had to go "under the knife." They gave her great care and the surgeon was VERy informative. Her dressing was done very professionally. I am a nurse so dressings are my specialty : )\r Anytime I have taken my dogs there- they are polite, courteous, helpful and will gladly answer any of your questions. more

Cruciate Ligament Repair 10/12/2007

Excellent! I have a 60 lb. Shepard mix. Zeus tore a ligament in his right knee and could not use the leg to walk. The Cruciate Ligament was repaired on Tuesday October 8th. Zeus was using his leg to walk on by Thursday October 10th. In fact, he was able to support his full body weight on the leg while lifting his opposite leg. I am so pleased with the results and the service provided by North Ridge Veterinary Hospital. Zeus did not have any ill effects from the anesthesia and he was his normal self by Tuesday evening. The service and staff could not have been better. James Perry - Chicago, IL more

Emergency Visit 4/20/2005

I called them in the early afternoon to see if I could bring my kitty in to be checked for a possible pregnancy, because our other cat was physically biting her side and I wanted to make sure if she was okay...They were able to get my kitty in that afternoon and they were really good with her...I definately would recommend them. more
