We had two dogs, the only reason I'm writing this is because we are looking for another vet to take our German Shepherd right now and thought I would let you know about our other dog a little over a year ago.
We had a NewFoundland mix we took into Riverwoods because she had developed a fairly large lump on her neck. The diagnoses from Riverwoods was a benign tumor after sending it to the labratory. They drained fluid from it and thought she would be fine.
Within four weeks the tumor had quickly grown into the size of a large grapefruit. We made an appointment to go back in, but before we could get her back in she got very sick. We rushed her to the urgent care late one night worried something was extremely wrong. After an X-Ray, we were told she had cancer throughout her entire body that had been eating away for the last couple months.
Obviously the misdiagnosis didn't cause our dog to die, but we were pretty frustrated after being told a large tumor was benign. You have to wonder what type of lab they are sending the tumor to, or if they are at all, and just charging us for it.
The vet at Riverwoods always seemed nice enough and reasonably priced, but it seems like cancer would be easy enough to detect.
Proceed with caution.
Pros: nice staff, clean facility, cool rabbit and birds
Cons: my dog is dead
