Over the last four years, I have returned to Rita's multiple times. It is the one thing that keeps me coming back to the River Walk! The food is great. The service is friendly and the margaritas are incredible. I definitely recommend Rita's on the River to kick back and relax after a long day of shopping! My favorite dish is the Tortilla Soup! more

Rita's Misused My Credit Card!!! 7/26/2011

Don't ever eat at Rita's On The River!! They charged somebody else's bill to my credit card, as well as my own bill, and won't take it off! When I just spoke with the general manager, she was not concerned for my situation and didn't even care when I mentioned I wouldn't be visiting their restaurant again... And I now regret the generous tip we left for the server who was very careless with our credit card! p.s. the quality of food was not at all worth dealing with all of this trouble! more

The worst dining choice on the Riverwalk 4/18/2011

This was honestly the absolute worst Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. You'd think that it being in business for a while and being in the middle of the Riverwalk that it would have something going for it? No. The fajitas were lukewarm, and the meat was without flavor. The rice was dry. The refried beans were passable but could have come out of a can. And worst of all was the margarita. It was very light on the tequila and had a bad chemical taste, as if they used a bad dry mix and added water--like an awful grown-up Kool-Aid. Dine anywhere else but here--several other places on the Riverwalk were nicer, had better food, and were comparable on price. more

Poisoned 7/8/2009

Don't bother; save your money 7/7/2009

We had our rehersal dinner before our wedding at rita's and it was the worst ever experience. The service was bad just like every other review states. (wish I would of read them first). The food was bland. I'm from SA and that is not Mexican food. After we came back from our honeymoon several of our guest that night confirmed the exact same experience at the restaurant. I wrote the manager a letter, and got nothing but lame excuses. In her reply it was obvious she didn't know what was going on in her rest. She wondered why it took long to complain (like if I'm going to complain and ruin my fiance night). I can go on and on but overall; pay attention to the reviews and stay away. Pico de Gallo has always been great!!!!! Pros: Nothing good came out of our visit more

Rita's On The River ~ Rocked when I was there! 6/12/2009

I only live a few hours from San Antonio and we visit it every year. I read the reviews prior to going, but still decided to go and try Rita's on the River. I really disagreed with most of the reviews. By no means is this a five star fine dining restaurant, but I have eaten at many of the restaurants on the river and the food is not the greatest TexMex...at any of them. But I thought the restaurant was a great deal of fun. First, we were seated right by the river which is the prime location. I ordered the Regular Texas Margarita which in my opinion with a really good size and $6.00, which is a really modest price for a tourist area. My husband and I had the Beef/Chicken Fajitas for 2 and my kids had tacos and quesadillas....all served with generous serving of beans/rice. The food was not out of this world and especially since I live in Texas, I have had better TexMex, but it was good and I did not find any of the food to be salty or bad. The waiter was extremely nice & freindly and the service was really good. And really being on the river watching the people walk by while enjoying a Margaritas, well you cannot beat that! Now here is a tip for all of you that are thinking about going...you can buy a Rita's On The River Gift Certificate from Restaurant (dot) com for $10.00 it is good for $25.00 off of $35.00. You can also google Restaurant (dot) com Coupon Codes. I just got one for 80% off so I only paid $2.00 for my $25 off $35. You cannot beat that. We ate there twice this week while in San Antonio. The four of us 2 Adults/2Children at for about 60.00 ($18.00 of that being Margarita's) minus $25.00 plus tip...I think that is a great deal especially for being in such a touristy section! Hope this helps everyone! Pros: Great Margarita's and Right On The Riverwalk more

Worst Birthday Experience! 10/15/2008

We went to Ritas on the River for my friend's birthday and it was horrible! First, he huge Texas sized ritas are only made w/ 2 shots for the 32 oz. That wasn't a big deal, although for $16, it's still a bit steep. more

If you are looking for decent Mexican food... this place is ok. 8/11/2008

My husband and I ended up at Rita's Friday night after checking into our hotel. We were looking for some great Mexican food but we were tired of walking! Pros: Easy to get to. Cons: Not so tasty. more

If you want the best Margarita you gotta go here 7/9/2008

Rita's on the riverwalk is one the of the best places to get a Margarita on the Riverwalk. This quaint restaurant has some of the best prices and service around. I would highly recomend Rita's on the Riverwalk to anyone who asked. There is also a mariachi band that will happily serenade you for a small fee, but they are excellant! Bottom line, if you want some fantastic TexMex (try the Riverwalk Queso as an appetizer, it is out of this world), some of the best Margarita's(all different Flavors including prickly pear and pomagranite), top of the line service and a Riverwalk view, this is the place to go! more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY 6/18/2008

We went to Rita's on a Wednesday night and had the worst food San Antonio might have to offer. The service was lousy, it matched the food quit well. The salsa only seemed to consist of tomato sauce, taco bell has better beef tacos and that's not saying much, the the beef flautas had no flavor ( wasn't really sure what was inside the tortilla shell). I'm sure the owner doesn't mind serving such terrible food, they're not there for repeat business. We're local residents that won't be returning or referring. Wish I didn't have to give it any stars!!!! more

Avoid unless you're desperate 5/26/2008

By far one of the worse tourist traps I've ever been to ... very sad the concierge from Hyatt Hotels, and the local San Antonio tourist bureau recommends this place. Margaritas are priced based on the quality of tequila you order ($6 cheap, $8 Cuervo gold $11 Patron, etc.), but they are so diluted with what tastes like lemon-iime koolaid we couldn't even finish them. Food lackluster. A few steps above Taco Bell was about all I can say for it. Chips are thick, bland, and stale.. Salsa tastes like it came out of a jar from a convenience store shelf. Tables are sticky. Odor from the bathroom was wafting over half the restaurant. When I asked the waitress what was in the margarita besides tequila, orange liquer, and lime juice (since it was clearly diluted up to 16 ounces with SOMEthing horrible), she said she had no idea ... ""That's why I'm on THIS side of the bar, because I don't care how they're made."" And she walked away. The live music was horrid -- they did more screaching than singing. We felt like absolute fools for staying thru the end of the meal. We had a free coupon for desert, and didn't even bother to use it. Cons: Food, service, music, ambience, margaritas -- all horrible,. more

Terrible experience 7/31/2007

Had an terrible experience while at Ritas after the bartender slammed hot sauce onto the counter and exploded all over clothes, face, and even worse eyes. I was told by the manager it was an accident and they would cover the dry cleaning. The dry cleaning bill was submitted which they covered only half of the bill and told to deal with the clothing that was ruined due to stains was not their problem. I would highly recommend moving past Rita's on the river!!! Pros: Terrible Service Cons: Terrible Service more

Great place to eat on the Riverwalk 10/3/2005

I thought Rita's had a really fun atmosphere, especially with the live music. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and made good recommendations from the menu. I would definitely recommend Rita's on the River to anybody in the San Antonio area. Pros: atmosphere, great food, service Cons: warm weather more

Great Time on the Riverwalk 10/1/2005

Good Food, Good Fun, Good Texas Music. Had a great time. I enjoy hanngin out here when ever I am in town. People are friendly. Pros: Big Margaritas, BBQ, Riverwalk more

Great Place 9/27/2005

We were blown away by Rita's atmosphere, and live music. We ordered both Mexican and BBQ entrees, and the kids ordered some kids meals. Everything was excellent, homemade tastes and flavors and good portions. The salsa we just right, not too spicey, and lots of fresh ingredients. It was nice to see a local place on the river doing a great job amoung the National chain restaurants. Pros: Service, Food, Value Cons: Color of River more

Tough Critic 8/12/2005

The food is marginal, the service is OK. You will notice that the food is overly salted, I suspect to encourage beverage consumption. Definetly a place to hang with others and drink, beyond that I would not recommend it. Pros: location Cons: over priced, mediocre food, very salty more
