Don't know where to go for dinner? 9/17/2008

I had my first chicken marsala here and it was GOOD! I don't like pasta when the cream is too thick and the entree was perfect. I came here with a group of 9 people and we made reservations beforehand so we didn't have to wait long. The table was prepared for us and service was good. I would recommend this place if your stuck deciding where to go for dinner. more

GREAT RELAXING ATMOSHERE & GREAT FOOD 10/8/2006

This past Saturday night, 10/07/06, my husband, myself, and my brother went to Rick's. Immediately, we were taken to a nice table, and served drinks. And what drinks! I got the Rasberry Chi Chi, my brother got the Mai Tai, and my husband got the beer. It was great! Then we ordered the crab dip and lumpia, w hot & sweet sauce. The Hot Crab dip W petite points toast, was out of this world! If you go there, get that no matter what. Just delicious. The lumpia was also very good. For dinner, my husband and I both got New York steaks, with a green peppercorn sauce, they were tender, flavorful, and juicy. The mashed potatoes were great, and the veggies, were nice and crisp and cooked perfectly. Pros: FOOD, ATMOSHPERE, SERVICE Cons: PARKING more

Go if you're 65 and like to spend $$ on blah food 12/27/2005

I'm from Hawaii so I was excited to try Rick's. The atmosphere was cheesy but not awful. Nice bar and good service. However, most of the customers were elderly (this was a Monday night), and the food was overpriced and ave. The fried ravioli was obviously pre-packaged frozen (Costco maybe?), dry and chewy. The sauce tasted like it was straight out of a jar. We also had the spinach and caesar salads. Each cost about $8 but were served on small plates. To add grilled chicken would've cost an additional $9 ($20 for a small chicken caesar salad?!). And pretty blah. Spinach salad had about 8 bacon bits on it. All in all, it was an ""eh"" experience. But I would try it again on a weekend (karaoke late nights) to see if the crowd is any better. But I'll stay away from the menu and concentrate on the drinks. Pros: good bar w/ tvs, good service, maybe the cheesiness Cons: over priced, elderly clientele, lousy food more

Wonderful neighborhood dining 12/24/2005

I've been eating at Rick's for years, and everyone I've taken there has loved it. The macadamia nut encrusted petrale sole is perfection, the pot roast is tender as can be, and if you still have room for dessert, the coconut creme brulee is to die for. I've been through most of their menu, and haven't had a loser yet. Years ago, I took a vegetarian friend there, and phoned in advance to make sure that there'd be a few dishes she could order. Their response was that they had several appropriate dishes on the menu, but ""If there's nothing on the menu that she can eat, ask for the chef, and we'll work with you."" That's service above and beyond the call of duty! Pros: Great food, warm atmosphere, excellent service more

Why Go Downtown 6/8/2005

We have been eating at Rick's since they opened. We are always treated very well, and we have used Rick's for business meetings, Holiday Parties and family events and have never been disappointed. Rick is very flexible and has a great menu. We are treated like family! more

the 'rents in town? this is the place 5/26/2005

rick's long bar is the perfect place for kicking back after work, meeting friends, grabbing a bite (the clams is my favorite). However the menu features a lot of big plate old-style resaurant food like your parents (or grandparents) think eating out is all about. so while certainly not trendy you won't get that deer-in-headlights look from your folks in from out of town that you got at that great little nuevo place you subjected them to last time they visited Pros: good bar more

Comforting in some aspects 5/26/2005

A welcoming setting, amiable atmosphere, and the ever-attentive staff do raise the comfort level beyond that of an ordinary restaurant & bar. The menu presents a variety of cultural cuisines and the bar will pour you a wide assortment of tasty concoctions. However, the food itself is only comforting in that it is served in large enough quantities to stuff you into submission. The quality of the food, especially those claiming Hawaiian ancestry, gets close enough aesthetically, but falls a bit short of achieving a true cultural experience. more

They have the best crab dipping ever! But, don't take a date there, very corny environment, located in a ""not so nice"" area of the city. There is just nowhere to go after dinner. The food is very good, family cooking style but I found the prices a bit high for this kind of restaurant. Overall, I will go back on a casual night out, mainly for the crab dipping though... Pros: Good food, bar selection, exotic dishes Cons: Corny more

Great Pot Roast 6/20/2004

They have a lot nice fish dishes here but the pot roast is very good. The place is a great to bring visiting parents. Its comfortable with quality at decent prices. Nice bar area. more

Great food & good entertainment 6/8/2004

In addition to the fresh steamer clams and mouth watering NY steak I enjoyed, Ricks also has great entertainment. A trio of Live Hawaiian music was a fun addition to dinner on a Friday night, but not half as fun as the after-hours Karaoke! A few Flaming Hawaiian potions later fromt their fully stocked bar can even make the shy guys get up on the stage and ""Bust a Move"" Pros: Large portions, Friendly staff, Wide Variety Cons: , Weekdays = Quiet more

Rick's Rocks! The food is absolutely top notch, and the servings are generous enough for the heartiest appetites. The house brisket is my fav, as well as the flaming 151 drinks from the bar. Not a tiki joint, but a fun, casual place for drinks if you aren't hungry. There is enough variety in the menu to eat there every night of the week. In fact, if I lived closer I probably would be there every night! Ask to meet Rick and he may come out to give you an Aloha for the road. more
