Look. You don't want to be one of those obstructionist ideologues who is doomed to eventual failure. I understand that as a Republican you believe that less government involved in the economy is a good thing, but you MUST listen to the voices of your country, and most of them want taxes to be raised on the richest people. That should be a given in your negotiations. After that is conceded, you can reach a compromise based on all other considerations. As a liberal in your district, I would urge you to spur economic growth by investment in infrastructure, education, and progressive technology, but at the very least I think you should acquiesce to the centrist notions of the majority of America.
