Its truly bait and switch. We have used them 2x and both times its beautiful adds that are homes that are just great priced and well under price for the area they are listed. But then when you look those single family homes are townhomes, apartments or duplexes that are run down and nothing at all like the adds. \r They will talk to you as nice as can be till you pay then when you dont find the ones listed on craigslist they dont return emails or phone calls or they make up excuses.\r \r There is NOTHING and i mean NOTHING that rent source has that you can not get on craigslist, hotpads or zillow or something. I mean think about it. They claim they do not charge the landlord to list with them. Well neither does any of the other places. Why would a landlord want to list through them with such a bad reputation when they can just list on craigslist for free as well? Or if they dont want to handle the renting there are companies who do that for free till they find a renter. \r Never use them you are paying $90 or $85 for something you can find on your own for free. When we talked to them they said they had landlords that did not ask for deposits and had free rent. I was very specific on what i wanted a 3 bed 2+ bath home in johnson county for less then $1400 a month. He said we have tons in that price range and more every day. They had maybe a handfull and most were older and not in good shape and everything they had were ones we had already seen on craigslist and other places. \r \r Just today i saw an add on Craigslist i was sure was them. So i emailed and sure enough same sure let us help you and when asked why they dont have picts of the homes they said because scammers will take the pics and use them. I think its because they dont want you to find the home and drive by it getting the landlord info and bypassing them. more

I am a single mother, two middle school children, and was in need of a home immediately. I found a few ads for homes on craigslist describing great places I would be interested in. I contacted the number attached and talked to a representative at Rent Source. With the assistance of Rent Source, and three days of looking at the homes sparking my interest, I was able to move my family into a great home. Thank you Rent Source! more

WASTE OF MONEY!!! OVERPROMISE/UNDERDELIVER 11/23/2011

I wish I had read the reviews on rent source inc before i wasted my money with them. I guess the fact that they don't offer a money back guarantee should have been a red flag. I was promised there were 'dozens' of horse properties that would be available if I just paid the fee and joined, I could find them. AFter much runaround I was shown how to a search by acreage. there were only 8 that offered acreage, only one of which has room for horses. Most were listed with acreage if they had an acre. Definitely not a place for a horse. I would not recommend them at all, to anyone, ever. For those of you who have been taken advantage of, like I have, is there anything else we can do? I'll head to the better business bureau next.... more

Very shady and misleading 11/12/2011

My wife and I were searching on Craigslist for a home to suit our needs and called about a particular property. On the other end was ""Rent Source"". The gentleman I spoke with was very friendly and nice and offered to help us locate a place that fit our needs. He quickly detoured me from my original purpose and wanted to have us come over to the office and ""fill out some more specific paperwork"" so that they could ""help"" us. It wasn't until I asked that I was told it cost $85. Had I not asked I think I would have found myself in their office wasting my time. more

Great Company that Give lots of options! 11/2/2011

I saw nasty reviews online and after doing a little bit of research with more then just negative. I actually decided to sign up. I called someone told me what they could do for me. I went online and loved the map on the front...it gives you some sample of properties they have to offer. I found a place within the first 6 weeks. I think if you act quickly and stay on top of it and keep an open mind about things then you will love using their service. more

Pissed!!! DON'T USE 7/2/2011

So I found a house on Craiglist that my roommate and I like. Called the number it was Rent Source.. A white girl named Kelly answered phone and said that i could come by and she would take me to see the property. We show up to their South City Location to meet with Kelly (the girl with the tattoos) We get their and she says that they can help us with our search making everything easy for 85 dollars but she couldn't show us the property until then.. With me traveling with my job every week and my roommate busy with work and her baby we thought it would be a good idea to use them....We told kelly we have 3 weeks to be out of our old place and that we didn't want to settle for anything we wanted she said thats find and a good price for what you want...After handing kelly the money she prints a list and tells us to call the landlords and set something up with them and she could not show us the property....My 3 weeks are up and i have no where to stay.. I call the company to speak to a manager they tell me one would call me back nothing...I have to piss off the rep to get them to get a manager when I talk to her she apologize and says she would personally look up locations in the week that I need to move I have got 3 properties that was not in my criteria. I have called kelly she has left me on hold for 15 to 20 min and hung up. Reps have also hung up with me when its their time to close. I will be going to both locations and if i find the call center I will be going their also Tue 7/5/11.... I want my money back and If i need to file a lawsuit i will. I don't deal or like Scam artist...DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE ...i will be going on craiglist to report all of their listings as spam so Landlords i suggest you not to work with this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

RentSource: Stress Free Renting 6/11/2011

I signed up with RentSource about a year ago. After calling their customer service line and being walked through the process of daily updating, exclusive rental listings and tweaking my criteria to find the perfect home I was pleasantly surprised that in RentSource I had truly found a great partner to help me through the difficult transition to a new home. more

scam company liars 1/18/2011

This company is nothing but a scam. We used them some years ago before they had the website and was hoping over the years it had improved. They had all these really nice listings on craigslist that sounded great. Funny thing once we signed up not one of those homes was actually on the site. The homes that were listed most were run down or in need of major updating. Sme even in a bad neighborhood. The ones that were nice were from rental companies and were higher priced then comparable homes around. When we signed up they said they had thousands of homes. We searched for anything 2+ bedrooms 2+ bathrooms and under 1400 a month and we turned up 50 listings. ALL of which we had already seen on hot pads, craigslist, or rent or other rental sites. Nothing they offer is anything you cant find elsewhere. They claimed they had homes with free months rent no deposits and so on. But nothing on the site was either of those. All they do is offer landlords free listing services. But so do some rental sites and of course craigslist. While years ago maybe they had a nice thing for landlords but now with CL and other free websites for listings what can they offer that the landlord can not do themselves? I have read on other sites that some landlords only used them because when they listed a home on CL the rent source company will call them and email them and hound them till they list their home with them. We are filing a chargeback against them because nothing they promised was actually on the website. Do not use them. Everything they list can easily be found elsewhere for free. Do not get douped as many of us have. more

Rip off (Scam) 7/12/2009

I agree with all these comments. I told them I was looking for a HOUSE with specific criteria. They told me they had many HOMES in my price range in the town I wanted to live in. I just had to pay the fee. They said they would work to find me a HOME for as long as it took, and I would be able to view pictures online. I paid the money, and realized my mistake. First of all, there were no HOUSES that matched what they advertised and I called about. When I told them that, they said they told me they had HOMES and a home is any dwelling (I got screwed there). Also, every listing they DO show, you can find on free sites. They just copied and pasted. And they kept telling me not to go to other sites, because they had them on theirs. Yeah they don't want you to realize what they're doing. I told them I wanted my money back and they said they do not give refunds. I told them I would turn them into the Betterbusinessbureau (site wouldn't let me put it in correctly), and they hung up on me. I would really recommend not doing it. You can everything you need on craigslist, rentalhomes, rent, and apartments. If you do a search for realtors in the area, they tend to have rentals on their sites also. I would only go with rentsource if you are too lazy to use google. Cons: They lie more
