Its so good 8/22/2008

Good atmosphere, great drinks, good sushi. Love sushi and Ive been to Reikyu quite a few times, although I took about a year off after finding Teppo which I find much better. Now, I have not had anything other than sushi there so I cant comment on their ""regular"" menu. I was very disappointed upon retrying Reikyu. I order sushi basics, I dont care for the sauces the chef uses there in most of the rolls and adds as sides to sushi and sashimi. It may be unique but I find it too rich and sweet. The tuna sushi was terrible. Extremely ""fibrous"" if thats the correct term, I wondered if they gave it to me because I ordered take out. The other sushi I ordered was ok, but for the price it should be better than ok. I have had better there but sorry 1 strike and your out with sushi. Pros: Atmosphere, drinks Cons: Sushi quality not comparable with price, sauces too rich for sushi more

were going to the movie and needed good food fast - this was a diamond in the rough 2/24/2008

I now have a 3.5 year old - so don't get to frequent sushi as much as I used to (2 x week) - and what a pleasant surprise. Not Pretentious like so many places in Dallas have become. Nice staff - very friendly, made great recommendations. the specials are a little pricey - but the sushi is not. The sushi chef was pleasant & accomodating. My husband who does not like ""fishy"" tasting sushi - really liked everything but the spicy tuna roll. What a Pleasant surprise. Thank you for a great dining experience. Pros: Great variety Cons: little pricey more

Reikyu-Trendy and phenomenal 8/29/2007

Reikyu is one of my favorite restaurants! The staff is incredible and so polite. After a few times of going the owner and bartender and staff all learned our names and remembered our favorites, and eventually made up their own concoctions they felt were our taste! The food is spectacular and though they may have a reputation of just having SMU students there constantly, they have been cracking down on the underage drinking, so they only students there are seniors. I highly recommend anyone to trendy and fun restaurant! Pros: great sushi and atmosphere Cons: a little pricy, but what's a few extra dollars for a great night? more

Sushi Lovers Beware 7/7/2007

We do eat our fair share of sush at least 2 times a month and it is not hard to tell good sushi from really poor quality stuff. We orded our standards; Maguro, Hamachi, Tako, and Unagi. I added a couple of rolls; Spicy Tuna and a Rainbow roll and we ordered Otokoyama Sake ($20 for a small 300 ML bottle). The Maguro was not spectacular, it was OK. The Tako arrived with a bright yellow sauce drizzled all over it. All I could taste was Mango. The Hamachi arrives covered in what I think is ponzu sauce however it is actually drenched in sesame seed oil. I was absolutely horrified when I tasted it!!! The Unagi arrived stone cold with an eel sauce that is nothing like we have ever tasted before? and this is not a good thing either. The Spicy Tuna roll is so spicy that my girlfriend cannot eat but a single bite. And we are not exactly hot & spicy wimps either and eat our fare share of hot & spicy foods. The Rainbow roll arrives and, like the Maguro tuna, is nothing spectacular but then again is not immersed in some bizarre sauce or oil either. Cons: Sushi quality was questionable and everything was overpriced. more

Some of the best sushi in town 11/18/2006

My boyfriend and I are always looking for good sushi... so when we stumbled upon this great little find we were extatic! Definately try the Crawfish Volcano on a bed of rice instead of the california roll... the raw fish iis all pretty tasty (especially the salmon.) But if you are going with your significant other... and you're brave... sit at the sushi bar and let the head sushi chef create your dishes for you. It's a fun atmosphere... but the SMU students also like to frequent this place... which gets a little old. Pros: great sushi and price Cons: SMU kids more

cool restaurant 10/19/2006

Beautiful restaurant. Attentive staff. Unfortunately that is all I can say about this restaurant. Assuming that most people wash their hands before they eat, the bathroom was dissapointing; the sink was wet and there was a puddle of water on the floor. Pros: great view, attentive staff Cons: paid too much for a meal that was below average more
