Best in the Triangle. 5/7/2008

Until I find something better this is the best Chinese restaurant. Yes, I like 35 Chinese(the Cary one) and China Palace. Didn't much care for Shanghai in Durham. This is it. Someone pointed out that their Peking Duck isn't crisp enough, and is more like a roasted duck. You know what? Maybe it's true. I do remember the skin being crispier when I ate one of these in my trips to Hong Kong. But I don't care any more. It tastes good, and it is easily the best in the area. And their hotpot (for groups of 4 or more... and I didn't misspell the word. Citysearch made me do it) is simply too good. If I had 4 stomachs I'd eat that every time. But I don't, so I'm relegated to having to find 3 other people who want the same dish as I do. Pros: Serves the best Chinese food in the Triangle. Cons: It's way the F out in the east Raleigh. more

It's more than Average 4/25/2008

I'm a Chinese tour guide operating some group tours around the east coast, I was so surprised when a local business man invited me there. I agree with him that the restaurant is the best Chinese restaurant in town, actually, it is very outstanding restaurant in the east coast.you might find same AUTHENTIC Chinese food in New York city or Toronto China town, but no where else. I've been there with five Chinese groups, every one loves it! If you are looking for a Americanized Chinese Restaurant, it's not the place, just go any Wal-Mart plaza and find the buffet named "Jumbo", not bad at all. Pros: Authentic Chinese Food more

Average, very average 10/31/2007

I looked at these other reviews and kept thinking....did we eat at the same restaurant? I double checked the address and yes, we did. Wow! So are you all relatives of the owners? We've been to this restaurant twice. The first time, we ordered off the menu and it was similar to any other Chinese restaurant in the area. Nothing in particular jumped out. The second time, we got the buffet. It was average. It definitely had less items than other buffets we had been to. This place is just average. The same as all of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. Pros: buffet and close to my house Cons: average food more

Wide range of Authentic food options 1/18/2007

The employees at this restaurant speak Mandarin so it was hard for me to order in Cantonese but my friends were able to order everything we wanted in Mandarin. The food is very authentic if you order from the authentic menu or know exactly what you want. They can make pretty much any traditional Chinese dish you like. The servings were very large and the waitresses were friendly and always refilled the tea quickly. Pros: Plenty of parking and plenty of tables inside Cons: Somewhat hard to find from the street. more

Real Chinese food that will dazzle your palate 12/30/2006

This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Sure, they have a buffet to satisfy those who go for that. But you're cheating yourself if you don't order from the excellent menu. I've only been there a few times, and I'm craving more! The scallop dish I had just the other night was superb; the scallops were very fresh, delicately breaded, and served in a garlic sauce that was so obviously handmade. Nothing from a can here! Service is always very quick and courteous. I'll definitely go back again and again. I can't wait to try everything on the menu! Pros: Great food and friendly staff Cons: None more

Always fantastic food and great value 12/26/2006

Although we live about a half hour from the Red Palace restaurant, we always make a point of getting there at least once a month. The quality of the food is excellent, the sauces rock and the value is second to none. If there's a better Chinese restaurant in the area I haven't found it. Pros: Great food, great value, great service Cons: Not close enough to my house more

Worth a cross-country trip! 12/15/2006

My wife and I had the good fortune to discover the Red Palace during a trip to Raleigh last year. It was the finest food we had on a two-week trip, and we are anxious to return. I love Chinese food, especially the spicy Sichuan kind. We ordered five or six dishes, and each one was delicious and authentic, as good or better than one can find on the West Coast. What a treat. And Lily the hostess may be the sweetest woman on the planet. Raleigh is a lucky town to have such outstanding Chinese fare at such reasonable prices. Pros: Easy parking. Delicious, authentic Sichuan food. A bargain. Cons: None. more

Great Authentic Chinese Food 11/8/2006

I've been craving for authentic Chinese food since I moved to Triangle area. Red Palace Restaurant solves my craving problem. I enjoyed every dish that we ordered and would definitely return soon to try more dishes on their menu. They are mouth watering delicious. I think this may be the only real authentic Chinese food restaurant in the area. Pros: Yummy more

Most authenic Chinese in Raleigh! 10/14/2006

This is certainly the most authenic Chinese restaurant in Raleigh that I've been able to find. The food is really tasty and there is a great variety of items on the menu to choose from. (Note, they offer a lunch buffet, but that's not where the more authenic items are....get the dinner menu!) Helpful staff too. Everyone should try this out. Pros: Very authenic, very tasty Cons: Odd location....kind of hidden. more

Best Authentic Chinese food in Town 9/28/2006

In the past several months, I have visited this restaurant almost at least once a very two week. They serve very authentic Chinese food that you can miss it. I particularly enjoy the Szechuan style food like the spicy dumplings, whole fish cooked in red peppers, etc. The Cheif is used to operate a cooking school back in China. The Peking Duck is very delicious and inexpensive. Has very traditional Chinese theme to it, so it's very great for couple or family dinning. Pros: Thumbs up, and excellent more

The most authentic Chinese Restaurant 9/14/2003

I've tried many Chinese restaurants in the triangle area. Nothing comes close to being authentic Chinese food(like the stuff you get in NY or SF Chinatown) as Red Palace. The place is decorated nicely with traditional Chinese tiles on the ceiling. It gives you the sense that you are in a real Chinese Restaurant. The Peking duck is excellent. It is a three course meal enough for a family of 4. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, excellent food more
