I took my family there on Christmas day and I have never been so dissapointed in a restaurant in my life. First of all, NO ONE told us you had to pay for each drink separately. Secondly, I was under the impression that it was a ""BRUNCH"" which I thought meant breakfast and lunch combined. Where was the breakfast food??? They served mashed potatoes that you couldn't even use as wall papaer paste as they were too hard. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the price of the dinner and we were almost home when I realized they charged me an adult price for my 8 year old grandson. This is so very wrong. I will never ever eat there again nor will my family or friends that were also there. What happened to the ""olden days"" when the food was good?? Cons: NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO WRITE THEM ALL more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Unless you enjoy bad food and don't mind paying double for it, by all means eat here. I have never ever in my life been so frustrated with a restaurant! The service was okay but the food may have looked good but tasted horrible! I was not satisfied at all and they charge $27 a person, could've gone to Shari's down the street and the food would have been better! Not only that, I was charged DOUBLE for the meal of 7 people!! I called in to file a complaint with the restaurant and the girl who answered the phone said that all day she had received phone calls regarding a double charge under the restaurant's name, not a good way of keeping customers if they're going to continue doing that. I am extremely disgusted with their way of doing business and they are not being helpful at all. I am going to file for a dispute. I took my family to Shenanigans on Hayden Island, for Easter Sunday. Thinking that it would be convenient for everyone to arrive and have a nice brunch and visit. I have not been to Shenanigans since the move from Swam Island. It would be a GREAT change in pace. We arrived on time and found out that the seating for the brunch was running late, about 30 minutes. Well OK, we could deal with that. Thirty minutes goes by and did another check-in, the answer was very vague. At this point it was apparent that the staff was very unorganized. Waited another 20 minutes and checked in again, finally some progress, we were seated. While walking to our table we had notice the main coarse and at a distance looked good. So we gathered our plates and headed to the salad tables and then onto the main coarse. Finding that what looked good at a distance was not so good dishing it up. The choices of food were less than what we had seen while going to the table. We dished up what we could and started to compared notes amoung ourselves. At first I thought that it was just me, everyone had the same thoughts. That the food was not being replaced with like food, it was being replaced with what was in the kitchen. Turned out to limit your choices of food, this was at 1:30pm in the afternoon. Knowing that the bunch was advertised to run until 2:30pm, what gives? After our discussion at the table had started we also observed the quality of food available. The quality was much less than expected for this highly advertised brunch, we paid $29.00 per person. A large group of us went to Shenanigans for dinner and later to their lounge Tuxedo Charlies. It was my mom's 65th birthday. We have not had such a good time together for a long time. The staff was very attentive to all our needs, they even had the DJ shout out a ""HAPPY BIRTHDAY"" to my mom. We use to come to Shenanigan's on Swan Island, and thought they were no longer around, but a friend said they are literally hidden in the Red Lion Hotel at Jantzen Beach. Sure enough there was Paul at the front desk, and sure enough there was the same great spread we enjoyed several years ago. There's a new Chef on board in the last year, and they put on a great spread. From the crab legs and poached whole salmon, my favorites to the wife's omlette, made to order, with all of the hot entrees, I think there are 19 total. Then on top of that the waffles are to die for, with like five different toppings. The desserts are good, as if we had room for sweets, but really in this economic times, its good to see the quality is there and really the value. I'm going to get the word out on this Portland favorite. We came back a week later for lunch and they had a very reasonable and really tasty luncheon buffet. Not too big and not to pricey for around $12 you can really get some great eats. If you ever ate at Shenanigan's on Swan Island, know they are still around and still got the good food. In the past I have been a couple of times at SHENANIGANS because friends wanted to go and I was never really impressed. In my opinion this place is way overprices and the food and service is not that great. But my birthday visit on 02/15 for Sunday brunch the worst experience I have ever had! more

We have had many meals at Shenanigans at the request of our mother. The food is always flavorless and lukewarm. If you're an adventuresome sort, their Sunday brunch is exceptionally bad. The food was generic, out of a can or bag and the wait staff seems to have other issues than tending to their customers. The items on the brunch menu frequently run out, at any one time there is never a complete selection, this item or that is has run out and it takes at least 15-20 minutes to be replenished. A glass of water was spilled near our table and it took them 20 minutes to clean it up-everyone walking to the buffet area was crunching over ice and slushy carpet. This place can NEVER be recommended. Unless you have a relative your trying to please by giving them their choice and are absent of tastebuds save your dining dollars and go anywhere else. Pros: The chair are comfortable. Cons: Poor food, poor service and a hash-house enviroment in an psuedo-elegant setting. more

I'd call it pseudo-upscale. It is a lovely restaurant with great views. But the food is mediocre (or really horrible considering it is so expensive), the waitstaff was pleasant but inefficient and bumbly forgetting one person's order entirely and bringing a steak that was well-done instead of medium-rare. And personally, my meal was okay. Pros: It is beautiful. Cons: Everything Else. more

My mother and I stopped in at the Shenanigans in Jantzen Beach for lunch. We browsed the menu, but agreed that the menu was overpriced. For example, the bowl of cantaloupe was $9.00. We chose the lunch buffet, listed at $10.50. more

First of all, my friend the bday girl left messeges for over a week trying to reserve the VIP area in the dance floor. Finally the night of our event, someone returned her call at 7:30pm. She had already conveyed to them that we had dinner reservations somewhere at 8pm. HELLOOOO??!! They would NOT accept her credit card over the phone to hold the VIP area and demanded that she come down and give them $100 cash if we still wanted the VIP area held. THE BEST BRUNCH IN TOWN. WE WERE SO HAPPY ! great view and great food ! had stuffed halibut and it was delicious. service was lacking though and it took me 15 minutes to be seated , not good considering it was not busy. no hostess and no manager could be found when I asked to talk to one. got food before i got my drinks. great food but service needs help. Have eaten here twice; food seems OK but the service is very very slow. On the other hand, the dance floor in adjacent Tuxedo Charley's is the best in town, and if you're there on a Saturday night and they have the GOOD DJ working, it's a great scene. more

The veiw was so wonderful, both the restaurant and the lady sitting across from me. The food was excellent and we were seated as soon as we walked through the door. the atmosphere was very romantic with low surrounding light and table candles. We both had the buffet salad which was overstuffed with variety, and the penne pasta chicken which was slightly spicy but very delicous. The waitress was very polite and made sure that our dinner was a night to remember. I have never been to a better restaurant ever! more

What a huge disappointment! We took our mom here for Mother's Day Brunch. We thought we had reservations, (we did) BUT..still ended up waiting in a huge line just to get in the door. It felt like a cattle-call. The so-called brunch was held in a cavernous ball room and the tables actually (I'm not kidding) were numbered! We joked that we wondered who the guest speaker was as it felt like a convention. The food was just okay, and many of the so-called entrees were empty. When we finally made it through the food line, most of the breakfast items were gone. What a joke. I think this must have been clueless person's idea of a big money-maker, as it cost us $30 a person to suffer through this indignity. PLEASE do yourself AND your mom a big favor. We went here for Easter brunch but ended up only eating desert because there was a huge line 30 min long to get any other food. The set up of the buffet was terrible and there was way to many people and not many food choices. Our server was so nice though she said was so embarrased by the horrble set up. We asked to speak to the manager and he said that he couldn't do anything it's easter, but what does it being easter have to do with theiriycky buffet? After reading some of the other reviews, we almost didn't go. However, since we had a nice gift certificate, we thought we'd take a chance....and am I glad we did!!! We were so impressed with everything! The service was wonderful, and the food even better! I'm ready to go back tomorrow! more
