Best

I loved this place and miss it! But it is closed and has been for a long time now.

Worst

I have just returned from a night out that included a stop at the Red Door. As a general review, this 2 level club was ok. They had a large downstairs bar and a decent upstairs ...

Strange Place 9/17/2005

Me and my gf went to try this place out for the first time and absolutly did not like it. We did NOT have any problems with the door guys, infact they were very polite and let us right in. The bartender was great, the drinks were perfect. I would simply never go there because it was too crowded, the music was too loud for a conversation to take place. Pros: Good looking people, Great Patio, Good drinks Cons: Too crowded, Music too loud, Not a good date bar more

Love The Red Door 7/23/2005

The Red Door is a good time if you are looking for lots of people, and a place to strike up a conversation with a good looking stranger. The bar is al ways busy so be patient when waiting for a drink or try the upstairs bar. I have always had great service, and have never heard anyone complaind about the drinks. The dress code is perfect and people who are going out on the town should not be going up into a bar looking frumpy. This is not the place to show up at wearing a old shirt and a broke down pair of shoes. You have to dress to impress here. Overall, I love the Red Door and will continue to go back. Pros: drinks, atmosphere Cons: parking more

need a rule book to get in. 7/18/2005

We went this past week and the door guy said that two of our people were not dressed properly. My friend and I later went without the other two since we were dressed appropriately and were told "we can't let you in because it's against the rules to separate groups." I have never heard such a ridiculous statement in my life! We were just people watching next door (the staff is soo sweet and the drinks are GREAT!!!) and the door guys were letting people in with flip-flops, leather pants, and cut off shorts... (may I add those people who were wearing that need to be on what not to wear) Anyways, I had some friends that were already in. When I saw them later they told me that the drinks were not up to par. I would never go back even if I had a rule book. more

WAY overrated 4/23/2005

Wasnt hard getting in the door. I had a crushed shirt that was untucked some jeans and some flip flops but then again i'm really handsome. I went here hearind all this good stuff got there and was like WUT???? Women were hardly that impressive. The ones that looked good came with their boyfriends. Nothing but doctors and lawyers and other rich guys there. If youre not one of those dont bother going. The women there are there exclusively to meet someone to pay their bills. And whats with the girl that says she hangs out there almost everyweekend? People who goto clubs and bars EVERY weekend need to get a life. There is more to life than just doing that. Thats why they will all be my slaves. Pros: good parking , nice bar Cons: overrated, expensive beer, ugly girls more

For the trendy, hot crowd 3/21/2005

I've read some unhappy reviews, so let me put my 2 cents in. I've never had a problem with the door guys. I don't know them personally, but my girlfriends and I walk in everytime with no problems. Of course we come dressed and groomed to impress, meaning alot of class with a touch of skin. I've seen some of the people they turn away, and that's half the reason the rest of us go there. If you're dressed in sloppy jeans and tennis shoes, go somewhere else. It's not the doorman's fault. He's trying to keep business going, which is working. Most of the people in the bar are good looking and nicely dressed. It does tend to get crowded, which makes it easy to strike up conversation. The martini's are to die for, and if you treat the bartenders well, I promise you they'll take care of you. Pros: Good looking crowd, Great patio, Martinis Cons: Parking, No dancing more

A little breating room would be nice... 12/15/2004

At the request of friends I have gone to the Red Door a total of 3 times, and I have vowed never to return, even if someone is buying my drinks. That place gives new meaning to PACKED. Shoulder to shoulder, and don't think about moving about too much. I find clinging to a wall helps. I didn't even try to make my way to the bar so I don't know about that. I would rather go to a bar where I'm not packed in like a sardine. Pros: Lots of people, good drinks, posh place Cons: , lots of people, lots of people more

only Gem in Houston 12/11/2004

i almost left Texas hating that state (3rd visit down). but i say almost until i discovered this place. not the most beautiful place i've been to but a great place to socialize, have drinks, people watch and just kick it w/ frens. the ONLY joint i enjoyed in Houston's nitelife circuit. and compared to most city-priced drinks, this place certainly was not inflated. forget downtown, midtown has a classier feel w/ easier parking. if there's only one place u get to go in Houston, make sure it's here (fri & sat are hot). Pros: good crowd, pleasant staff, great lounge 4 drinks Cons: , no real dance floor more

Love it 10/17/2004

Great drinks! Geat Bartenders!...and nice Eye Candy! The trendy decor and beautiful people make this a great place to hangout with friends. My friends and I have been hanging out since the opening and can't seem to find a place to beat it. I always bring my out of town friends her to show off the Houston Skyline from the roof top bar. Pros: Drinks, Atmosphere, Employees more

Awesome 6/12/2004

Beautiful women, free cover, $5 valet...... Place is awesome. Copa room / bar (sp) is right next door with more beautiful women. I have been to dozens of bars / clubs trough out houston and I must say these two places are awesome. Pros: Women, No cover, Awesome drinks Cons: , Crowed at times more

Go there! 2/3/2004

Although the red door is exclusive, getting in is totally manageable with the right attire. Very classy environment with a great crowd. The drinks are strong so watch out that you don't have too many because they're not too keen on drunks. Have fun and definately hit up the bar! more

red door rocks! 11/3/2003

red door is by far the best place to hang out in the midtown area! the bartenders are super nice and very knowledgable. Can be hard to get past the door guy, but if you go dressed to impress it will NOT be a problem. definitely reccomend the apple and double chocolate martinis as the best in the city!!!!! if you want to go on a less crowded night, thursdays are good, and saturdays the crowd is packed full of super cute girls and guys... more

Niceplace 10/27/2003

I was surprised how nice the door men were when we got there. The place has a great view of the Houston skyline. The drinks are stiff and priced the same as the rest of mid-town/ downtown. more

You must try... 10/24/2003

the Double Chocolate Martinis! Next time you go out to eat, skip desert and head over to the Red Door for a couple of these. Pros: friendly, comfortable, good music Cons: parking more

Great time at the Door 6/25/2003

I had a fabulous time at the Red Door this past Thursday night. The bar isn't much from the outside, just a parking lot and a red door, but i think it adds to the mystique. Once you enter the door you step into class. Great accents surround the round downstairs bar. An awesome skyline view of the city on the upstairs patio bar. Drinks were reasonable for a hot midtown bar. The staff was OVER friendly and poured generous drinks. I think the best feature was the crowd. Beautiful women everywhere. A really good looking classy crown. Everyone should definitely check this place out. Pros: Prices, Friendliness, Atmosphere more
