Worst

Spoke with Alan/Manager/Owner regarding brake issues. He advised to bring it in; drove there with bad brakes then told there is a charge to evaluate. I don't appreciate Owner fail...

Very Pleased 3/9/2012

I am a single parent with my only trasportation being my one trusty Jeep. It needed some repair so I took it to Read's Automotive to get a safety inspection. I also knew that my AC was not blowing as hot and with summer coming I thought I should look into what is was going to cost. I figured outrageous! Well they did the inspectionand told me they would take a look at the AC. Turns out it was just a hose that needed to be fixed, they quoted me an awesome price so they went ahead an do the repair! I was very satisfied with the Repair, the price, and the Owner Alan and staff was wonderful... more

AVOID: GO ELSEWHERE 10/20/2011

Spoke with Alan/Manager/Owner regarding brake issues. He advised to bring it in; drove there with bad brakes then told there is a charge to evaluate. I don't appreciate Owner failing to disclose this and the amount up front. Will go to trustworthy auto place out of town before I return here more

Best Mechanics Beween Oak Hill and Dripping Springs 8/16/2011

Allen is a straightforward, stand-up guy. I can always count on him to stand behind his shop's work, and make good on his commitments for completion. I'll second 21spurs's endorsement on the emission testing at Read's; Allen pinpointed the likely cause of a computer error giving a false emission reading. Their knowledgeable service is a huge timesaver. more

Great customer service, Excellent work. 7/29/2011

About a month ago I had the good fortune of doing business with Allen the owner of Reads automotive. The company I work for is based out of San Antonio and we use vehicles from out of state. I had some issues with 3 of my vehicles. They were registered out of state and the registration was expired. To get this issue resolved I had to have an emissions test done on all three vehicles. Overcharges and sneaky 6/2/2011

I got a routine break job done at Read's and they overcharged me by about $150 compared to the shop that repaired them the previous time. I had the exact same repairs done to my car. They also tried to sell me on a bunch of repairs that I didn't need. Avoid going there at all cost! more

We've found a new friend! 3/5/2010

We recently returned to Austin (Oak Hill) after ten years in Wichita Kansas. Shortly after we got here we needed some car repairs. We are so please to have found Alan Corsentino and his staff at Read's Automotive. They are taking great car of us. Their service is quick and efficient. Their prices are reasonable. My daughter and I have taken out cars to Read's for several years and have always found their service to be professional and timely. My Honda has over 200,000 miles and is still purring along with never a major problem because of Alan and his crew's excellent evaluations and timely maintenance. Pros: Efficient service more

Watch the invoice prices. 10/6/2009

I moved to SW Austin and sought a close-by repair shop instead of using the Lexus dealer up north. I used Reads twice and needed to go back once because the engine light came on after they failed to connect a vacuum hose after an oil change. I got curious and looked at the details of the invoices and cost of parts. I took the part number from the Reads invoice for the Oxygen Sensor they replaced and found the same manufacturer part with the same corresponding part number on the web and in their store for $194.00 retail. Reads invoice charged me 281.50 for the same part. Reads stated he was entitled to a mark up on parts. I checked my Lexus invoices and found Reads shop cost to be 3% higher than the Lexus dealership. Reads charged me 87.50 over what the manufacturer sells the part for at retail and Reads must get their parts wholesale. Almost no one would know what this part cost or could calculate the markup that is hidden in a Reads invoice over the retail price. Buyers beware! Pros: Friendly and convenient location to SW Austin Cons: High parts prices and shop costs more

I've know Alan Corsentino for many years. This was a plus for me. Knowing the man behind the counter. I like Alan's work ethics and he does not fix it until you've given him the go ahead. I would recommend this automotive shop to all my friends who don't want to get cheated or as they say ""THEY SEE YOU COMING"" Cha-Ching.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$\r They are the most ""HONEST"" Shop that i've ever delt with.
