Best

The food was delicious and I really love the place .. it was cozy :-) I highly recommend this place for people who would like to relax and enjoy their food and time :-)

Worst

I went to Ray's for the first time last November. Though the food was just ok, not the way it sounds on the menu, the service was not very good at all. After a long wait, even w...

Best Seafood Restaurant in Atlanta 11/13/2007

We had the most incredible time at Rays on the River. If you haven't seen the new design you are missing out--- its really beautiful and the views are awesome. The food was mouth watering and the presentation was impressive. I had the parmasan scallops and my wife had a steak...both were awesome. The chopped salad is also great...and the crab cakes are a personal favorite. The service was excellent and our waiter even recommended a great bottle of wine. This was a really fun night with great food! more

Pricey but Yummy 11/5/2007

Food is good--mainly seafood with 1 or 2 steak options. Prices are high--but you can tell that the moment you walk into the entrance! Ambience is more centered around a romantic evening, or perhaps a business meeting, not a good place for very large groups or for small children. Best on the menu?--Fresh Berries and cream for desert! Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Parking lot gets very crowded, very early! more

New interior makes this place a must see! 11/4/2007

Had dinner with friends on a thursday night - no waiting for a table which is always a plus. The new interior is great. Very contemporary, very posh. The place was on the dark side, so would be great for a date. The views are awesome - make sure you get a seat in the lower level by the window. I had the crusted halibut. It was a bit dry and somwhat flavorless. I had to add a lot of salt and lemon. For desert we all shared the brownie sundae. It was very ""cakey"" - i prefer ""fudgy"" so i was dissappointed. But the creme brulee and and fruit were excellent! I'm surprised Citysearch ranks it ""$$"". I don't think any entrees were below $25 so this can be a pricey meal considering a lot of the entrees and sides are a la carte. I was more impressed with the ambiance than the food. Pros: View, ambience Cons: limited parking, pricey more

New Rays is OPEN!! 11/3/2007

The new Rays is OPEN for business and it was excellent. The menu had many options with the majority of choices leaning towards seafood. Pros: View, Food Cons: Parking more

Brunch is Good But Crowded 11/1/2007

We LOVE going to the Sunday Brunch at Ray's but in an effort to provide more and more variety they now have the buffet area so crowded it is difficult to enjoy.... We really enjoy the food and the view but service and quality has declined, noticeably in the past few years. This was always quite a treat but we are looking for a ""better"" spot. Try it once to form your own opinion but we remember the ""better times"", so perhaps we are biased. Make a reservation but remember, that is just a guideline! I do not think we have ever had to wait less than 30 minutes, even with a reservation. Pros: Good Brunch if you can get to it Cons: Too crowded, too many tables for the space...Poor customer service, couldn't care less more

Wondeful waterfront dining. 9/11/2007

Rays on the River has a wonderful variety and caters to everyone. Precisely meaning they provide meals from chicken to steak to fish lovers. The setting is a mix-of fine dining and relaxation all rolled into one. After a long day at work I was able to enjoy my food and environment set on the River. Ray's has a wonderful waterfront view. I suggest even sitting on the patio permitting that the weather is not too cold or hot. The wait time was alittle excessive but that means people can't get enough of this restaurant. more

I WON'T GO BACK 9/10/2007

Pros: FOOD WAS GOOD Cons: OWNER AND MANAGEMENT more

Hope you like to wait if you have a reservation 8/28/2007

Heard the food was good but never got to try it. Waited close to an hour but never got a table even with a reservation. This was a week night. Don't go here if you have more than 2 or 3 people if you want to be served promptly. Went to Buckhead to Bones and had no problem getting a seat. Won't be back to Ray's. more

BEST BRUNCH EVER! 11/4/2006

Rays is by far, hands down, the best brunch in Atlanta! I have dined at several other places who charge more and there is no comparison. They have a vast selection-great for picky eaters as well as those who like to try it all. You must try the Brie in puffed pastry-it is so rich and delicious and not something I usually see at a brunch. Pros: awesome brunch, great selection Cons: slow with the drink orders more

Good location, service needs help badly 9/1/2006

I am going to keep this short as I am not going to strain my brain remembering everything that went right or wrong. I went with guests from out of town and 2 kids 5 years old. Location great! After the wait we were sat and the kids given menus. Asked for crayons as the kid menus were black and white with animal characters and were told they do not have crayons though the kid menu is obviously for coloring. Server came to the table after awhile finally got us water. Could not answer questions about the wine or about the salmon app. I prompted him by asking if certain things were served with it. The service is slow and disjointed. The food was good. the menu is like a rip off of mccormick and schmick. He added some wrong things to our bill and we had to point it out. Anyway. I think this place is better as a place for cocktails overlooking the water than a nice dinner. Not impressed, but certainly not the worst place in the world. Might go back for snacks and cocktails at the bar but that is it . Pros: location, food Cons: service more

bad service, below average food 5/8/2006

The service was really bad the first time I went to Ray's on the River. I read so many good reviews about this place so maybe it will be better the next time. I decided to give it another chance yesterday and I have the same bad service. The waiter was inattentive, unfriendly and not well trained for his job. It took about 20 minutes after we were seated for him to take our orders and I don't see him again until bill time. He didnt even refill the empty water glasses (**empty most of the night**). I got better service from a waffle house. As for the food, it is ok. You can find must better food elsewhere for the same or lower price. Cons: bad service, bad service more

DON'T FORGET THE SUNDAY BRUNCH 12/7/2005

Ray's is my favorite Atlanta restaurant. I have never been dissapointed and neither has any of our guests. We have brought Chicagoans, New Yorkers, Floridians, Californians and even Atlantans that have never experienced a meal their and none have left with even one bad thing to say (and we hang with some real skeptics). As a matter of fact, most can't stop talking about it, even though it is fairly pricey. Brunch is @ $25 per person now, but worth every cent. The view, the food, the service, the atmosphere and the quality are hard to find anywhere. Pros: The Experience more

Brunch for 4 12/4/2005

Some friends and I decided to go to Ray's for brunch. Arriving we were promptly seated, having made reservations. We got an excellent table at the window, with a nice view of the river. The food was buffet style, which I did not expect. There was defitely and impressive selection, and it was all reasonably good. Some things were not kept at the proper temperature unfortunately, and I think a normal brunch would have been more to my liking. I enjoy Ray's in the City, and I am sure that a meal ordered from the menu would have been much better. Pros: View, Atmosphere Cons: Buffet Style Brunch, Overpriced more

CAN'T GO WRONG 10/6/2005

ray's on the river is a nice restaurant with good service. they also have their cuts of seafood on display. the seafood is very very fresh. people actually get married right outside by the river which you can see from you table. they also offer outdoor seating by the river. and the crowd here is mixed as far as age and people. you can also hear the restaurant's waterfall while you dine. one couple i spoke to said they've been going there for 15 years. i was impressed. Pros: beautiful view, very fresh seafood, relaxing more

great place 2/18/2005

The lobster is awesome, the best I've had. Service could be better. Ambiance is great, I'm from Chicago and there is nothing like this there. Pros: ambiance, food, parking Cons: service more

Great Experience 6/10/2004

Clean, attentive staff, great sushi - that was my experience at Ray's on the River. This is the perfect place for a romantic date or even a first date. My meal was excellent. The ambience and decor was nice and the jazz band that was playing the evening I was there was perfect. The location is not the easiest to find and it was a little chilly in the dining. But overall, I plan to go back to Ray's on the River. Oh, and if you don't want to sit down for a meal, the bar area is a perfect place to meet friends or colleagues for drinks. Pros: Good Parking, Sushi, Seafood more

Poor Service 5/31/2004

Based on the recommendations provided by the reviews of previous diners. I personallly, was totally dissappointed. First by the service and secondly by the food. I found great diffculty in understanding, why this restaurant would be selected as a fine dining restaurant. I found dirty B&B plates, cutlery, and napkins. The server was also unattentative, and clearly was not a trained professional in his field. I will not be going back to this restaurant. more

Wonderful 2/5/2004

Ray's on the River has been here for years and they still provide a wonderful experience. The service is excellent and they are able to see your needs and offer suggestions. They have a wonderful wine selection. We sat up at the bar after dinner and ejoyed the band. We also had a great time talking to the bartender. I think her name was Julie. The food was so yummy. I love the Calamarie and the Mahi Alexander. I guess I will always love this place. Pros: food, service, music Cons: , but I guess it sets, the mood more

Great experiance 4/24/2003

Very good service and food. View of park and river aided in creating an enjoyable and relaxing dinning experiance. Lounge got a little loud. Great value for food, service and setting. First choice in Marrietta Pros: Food, Service, setting Cons: loud lounge more

Food and Music, SOOTHING!!! 3/9/2003

I went here for my birthday. I was very relaxing, the food was great, the service was wonderful and to top it off, the live band was out of this world! more
