Ravenna's is an average place to visit. I'm not sure why it received 4 and 5 stars, unless someone from the restaurant gave it that. The food was nothing special. I could have ...

The best Italian Food I have had in Dallas. 11/10/2011

This littlel touch of Italy is in the heart of Downtown Dallas at Main and Field Street, is quaint, a little like downtown in Chicago or New York. I enjoyed it because we could talk and visit while eating a wonderful Italian meal. I had Zuppa di Mare. Wonderully delightful, this mix of seafoods and pasta is fresh and light and seasoned to allow the taste of the ocean to come through. I also liked their wine list. Not the biggest, but selected to mix with what you are dining on. If you want Italian, from Italians that are wanting to please...try Ravenna's. more

Watch your belongings & shady management!! 8/29/2011

I'm upset I have to give this place even 1 star...yes, food was good...but service was lackluster. We figured our server was maybe having a bad night & were as cheerful as we could be with each encounter & tipped him well to hopefully make up for a bad night. BUT THE WORST - Just as we were leaving, I realized I had left my iphone on table (had been checking Cowboys score). We quickly went back inside to retrieve the phone, but the table had already been cleared, & guess what?? NO ONE had seen my phone. Yeah, right. It was late Sat. evening & we were the only customers left in the restaurant! With the short time that had elapsed, & only staff in the building, doesn't take much of stretch of imagination to figure out what happened. Owner was not helpful at all in helping us find phone, & in fact, got VERY upset with me when I suggested I would need to file a police report for the missing item. He even refused to give he his full name or a business card!! What kind of person does that?? Stay far away!!!! more

Lacking integrity and character from leadership! 5/4/2011

This review is not focusing on the food quality, but rather the customer service. My wife and a group of friends ate here nearly 6 weeks ago. While reconciling our monthly bank statement, we noticed we had been overcharged by $2....taken out as a "tip". The bill already had an 18% automatice gratuity applied, and some of the ladies actually left more "cash" on the table when they left. Rather the $2 was intentional or accidental, we'll never know the truth. However the problem is that we have called (my wife 3 time, myself twice) requesting them to take care of this issue. $2 is not going to break our bank, but it's the principle of taking care of customers and making things right when you mess up....which the management of Ravenna has failed to do, even after 5 calls. They have given us so many run-around answers, it's like a child caught stealing bubblegum and trying their best to get out of it. They have asked for the last 4 digits of our card, which we gave them. They have asked for our address, which we gave them. They have even asked for both of them multiple times. I asked the manager if he just threw our info in the trash the last 2 times we've given it to them...obviously since we have not been compensated properly. I would encourage everyone to double check their bank statements carefully, because they could possibly be doing this to severaly hundreds of people each and every day. The food may be grrrrrrrrrrrreat! but the lack of integrity and character from leadership will prevent my family and friends from ever returning! more

their grrrrrrrrrrreat! 11/12/2010

Highly recomend this place... its small, quaint, and desceivingly awesome. Service is better then a 5* high profile chef inspired dinning experience. The food is by far the best Italian food we have had, including anything we have cooked personally!! Need I say more... this is a Must Have!!! more

Casual & Fun place with Excellent Italian Home Cooking 9/20/2010

I wanted to higly recommend this very casual Italian restaurant that will surprise you in every way. We wanted to take clients to a nice but not too expensive dinner, with a casual environment with excellent food & drink & this was the perfect place. Ravenna staff did a wonderful job on Thursday, September 16, 2010 for our business group, www.MOVE Everyone loved the casual and fun atmosphere at the restaurant as well as the wonderful service and excellent food. We knew Mark, the Concierge at the Sheraton Hotel, where we were staying had made the right recommendation. Of course going to dine with our teammates the night before affirmed it was the right choice since we went to "test it out" and we were taken good care of and again we appreciated the excellent food and service, from the fried Calamari, fresh hot bread, lobster ravioli, the house salad and the red wine recommended was nice and smooth. Thanks again for a wonderful experience at your restaurant. more

Ravenna Italian Restaurant 9/20/2010

I was in Dallas for a tradeshow this past week, I had the pleasure of dining at Ravenna with 3 of my co-workers. We were all in agreement that Ravenna served one of the best Italian dinners we had ever tasted. The service was excellent and the owner checked on us twice. Very nice dining experience. Kudos to Ravenna. more

They add a tip w/out your authorization!!! 9/17/2010

I came in one night after going to a club. My total came out to $30 total for one box of pizza, 4 bottles of water, and I clearly DID NOT tip since this is a cafeteria style eatery . WELL they added a $5 tip without my authorization and I have my reciept to prove it!! Watch out for this place because I'm sure they are making a killing by ripping off card users! more

My Favorite Spot in Dallas 4/1/2010

Okay Dallas, let me share my favorite place to go in Dallas, HANDS DOWN. First of all the food is so so so good. My mouth is watering as we speak. Ravenna not only hails the best pizza in Dallas, the pastas are to die for. And anytime you're not sure about what's good, Milan will definitely find the right dish for you. The service and the approachability of the staff is amazing. The local patrons are also so great. Prices are good too. It's fine dining at casual prices. There's also a ton of specials during happy hour & reverse happy hour. I could go on forever... Also check out LIVE JAZZ on Tuesdays and LIVE DJ's on the weekends til 4 am!!! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Drinks, Nightlife, Live Music, DJ Cons: NONE more

Great food and service 4/1/2010

So I have been going to Ravenna for 2 years now, and I must say that after 2 visits I felt like a regular. They treat you as if you are part of the gang which makes it a very inviting place to have a drink before the club or make a night of it. The food is great, especially the chicken sorrentino!!! I will continue to visit, and support the fact that they are now bringing live jazz into downtown dallas on tuesdays! Pros: strong drinks, reasonably priced great food, live jazz more

A Downtown Gem 3/31/2010

Ravenna has given Downtown Dallas a bit of what is sorely lacking. A soul. It's brought heart to Downtown in what would otherwise be a sea of clubs and medicore restaurants. As a regular patron of Ravenna, I can atest to it's excellent quality in food, service and bringing a sense of community to the residents of Downtown Dallas. The food is the best Italian I've eaten in Dallas. Ingredients are fresh and not prepared with a heavy hand as which is often the case of Italian venues. Another bonus for any football (i.e. soccer) fans is Ravenna is a haven for us fans as the games are always on and if not the staff with oblige with your request to watch. Keep this in mind as the World Cup is approaching. Ravenna is a 5 star establishment that you be patronised by all. You will throughly enjoy your experience. Pros: Excellent Staff, food, atmosphere more

Average Food 11/23/2009

Ravenna's is an average place to visit. I'm not sure why it received 4 and 5 stars, unless someone from the restaurant gave it that. The food was nothing special. I could have made the same meal at home, and I have no experience in Italian food. My husband and I were expecting something really fantastic after reading the reviews, and we were both disappointed when we tasted our food. It was nothing like the comments say. I won't return. Pros: Decent price, large portions Cons: bland food more

Best Dallas Spot by FAR 2/15/2009

I live downtown and love to try new places. I came upon Ravenna because i wanted a slice of pizza. When i went in the owner Milan greeted me and made me feel like family. The pizza is amazing and now i have been so many times that i have almost tried everything he offers. The calamari is perfect, and the sauce it comes with is legendary. I go there for lunches, dinners, drinks and after the bars close i go there for some late partying. They have a dj on the weekends late and pizza is served til like 330 or something. If you don't go and try it you are missing out on a Downtown Dallas Gem. Pros: Great owner/management, impecable service, amazing food, great original drinks and a classy crowd of people Cons: NONE more
