The Best in Town 4/15/2006

When I moved here from St. Louis, I was somewhat disappointed in the movie theaters here. Luckily, the Rave opened soon after and I have never gone anywhere since. It has true stadium seating, big comfortable seats with the armrests that you can raise to essentially create your own couch for snuggling, and 12 screens so whatever you want to see will most likely be showing. The sound and picture quality are always first rate as well. I also like the digital readouts for the movies inside and out - I've found the ones that are still done by hand are sometimes behind the time. If you go with someone (or just really like popcorn) you may want to get the large bucket, which has free refills. My husband is addicted to this stuff, so we refill on the way out and put it in a ziplock when we get home for later snacking. more

Can't Rave Enough About Rave Motion Pictures 4/1/2006

It's the newest in the Baton Rouge area so of course it's going to be the snazziest -- attractive, clean, and big. Rave is located off the interstate at O'Neal Lane which is good and bad -- convenient, but at an area famous for traffic tie-ups in the evening. Be sure to budget plenty of time to get there in traffic between 3:30pm and 7:30pm during the week. Yeah, concessions are steep. They're like that everywhere. Sneak in your own. :) Yeah, ticket prices are steep. Again, it's just a sign of the times. Hit the matinee. Couple of things you can do to save time if you're running late: order your tickets online at MovieTickets.com, or use the credit/debit card kiosk right outside the door to purchase your tickets without standing in line. Love the theater seating, bathrooms are very nice, but unless you're seeing a movie on opening weekend, you may end up in one of the smaller theaters in the back. Another hint: exit the parking lot afterward on the side of the Mexican restaurant, where the entrance to the parking lot is...don't exit nearest the light at O'Neal. People aren't always kind about letting you out there. In summary: GREAT theater, clean, new, big, and located in the far eastern side of Baton Rouge so it's ideal for folks in Denham Springs and Walker. If you haven't been to Rave yet, go see what you're missing! more

Comfortable Movie Theater 9/15/2005

Rave Motion Pictures is the relatively new movie theater off of O'Neal lane. If you are on 1-12 exiting on O'Neal, you can see it from the interstate and it's hard to miss. This movie theater has reclining seats. Also, you can lift the arm handles up to allow for spaciousness between people or if it's not crowded that night, you can take up 2 seats or partially lie down. Also, the leg room in the aisle is double the standard movie theather (Cinemark and Tinseltown) and is good for someone who cant stand going to the movies and not be able to prop their legs up on the seat in front of them. Also, their nachos are awesome!! AND - last but not least, for all your deer hunting fans, they have the Big Buck Hunter 2006 video game inside - my husband's main reason for getting there an hour early!!! more
