Best

I've gone here since the week it opened (11 years?). consistently delicious and outstanding dishes, the Service IS GREAT, my favorite, Lupita's Salad, Ranch Slice, Sopa, Divorce...

Worst

Recently visited the Ranch and was not impressed. The food is expensive the portions are small and your practically sitting on top of the people eating next to you. The wait stuf...

Melts in your mouth 3/7/2005

First, you MUST try the crispy oysters with the lime aoili sauce. Oh my gosh you will not believe them. Absolutely craveable. They always have the most interesting yet delicious specials. I had the stuffed quail served on poblano mashers last time and it was absolutely fabulous. The margaritas are strong so watch out! The live music was wonderful but I couldn't hear a thing my date was saying- not a place for first dates. This restaurant is totally an Austin establishment that EVERYONE should experience. Pros: CRISPY OYSTERS, Margaritas, Fab live music Cons: loud, can get crowded, make RSVP! more

cha ching 11/9/2004

i went here last week and dropped some serious cash on some alright food. it took over an hour to get a table, which was spent drinking 5 dollar beers outside. ridiculous. the cost was outrageous for the meal we got. it is one thing to spend money on a ""nice"" meal, but i left feeling like i got scammed. never again will i go there, unless it is on someone else's tab. Pros: hot chicks, very hip Cons: , too long, loud more

EXCELLENT 9/8/2003

One of the greatest dining experiences I have had, not only in Austin, but anywhere. The food, atmosphere, servce were all of the best quality....highly recommended! Pros: quality of fare, moderately priced, atmosphere more

Where's the beef? 12/11/2002

Ordered the 8 oz. burger. I got a bun with a meat schmeer. My guest tried to help me find the meat but unfortunately did not bring his reading glasses so had no luck either. Maybe they are just trying to encourage everyone to order the more expensive burger item instead. Worst burger I ever had. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Better food elsewhere more

I'm impressed 11/30/2002

I recently had my first Ranch 616 experience and was really impressed. The food was amazing. The waitstaff was attentive but not over-bearing. And the atmosphere was great, but totally not what I expected. It's the only resturant where I've been able to eat stuffed quail and lamb while sipping a Mexican martini...while admiring a poster of the Virigin Mary surrounded by candles, shrine-style. This is the only place I've found with Austin attitude AND exceptional food. Dinner for two of us (including appetizer and 3 drinks) was about $80. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Pros: Amazing food, Austin atmosphere, good service more

The Service at Ranch ROCKS! 6/20/2002

Maybe reviewer #1 is used to really bad service and has grown to like it, but we go to the Ranch SPECIFICALLY because we know we'll be treated like royalty. The staff is so friendly and attentive that we dine there over and over. The food makes my mouth tap-dance. We LOVE the Ranch and their great staff! Pros: Food, Service, Parking Cons: too much food!, too far from home more
