We went to this restaurant despite reading a very poor review, because Chilis closed down and we needed to use up gift cards that were good at both restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find a short wait time to be seated, a very attentive server, and good food. The drinks, salads and deliciously warm rosemary bread were brought to out table quickly. Our wait for the entrees took a little longer, but our server was very apologetic, and offered more bread. The food was good, and even my very picky son enjoyed his meal. We will be returning to this restaurant, and I'm looking forward to trying other items on their menu. I observed excellent customer service not only at our table, but from other servers to other tables, too. This restaurant deserves a good review, and it should be tried before a negative judgement is made. We liked it! I went to Romano's with my mom and grandma on Mother's Day. Of course there was a huge line inside and we waited more than an hour. We finally sat down to order drinks, only to find out that they were out of lemonade! We ordered a smoothie type drink that ended up costing us $7. They charged us for refills. Now I see why they were ""out"" of lemonade.The prices were so high my mom had to order clam chowder which tasted like canned Progresso soup except worse because it was so salty. My grandma unwillingly ate chicken cannolini that she said was so disgusting she could hardly look as she was biting it. My pesto chicken pizza was dry and barely had any toppings. Everytime we pass by Romano's we can't help but shudder. I will never go here again because of this terrble experience. Pros: Lots of options on the menu Cons: Pricey dishes and poor service more

I must be a glutton for punishment. My husband and I live very close to this restaurant so we have been there about 10 times because of the convienence. Each time our visit is awful and we have finally learned our lesson. The biggest problem is the customer service. We ALWAYS have trouble getting service, from our initial waiter visit to waiting for our check. In addition the food just isn't that great so it's just not worth it. We always feel that our waiter has very little time for us and would rather be somewhere else. In addition if we don't order an entree and ask for the ""create-your-own-pasta"" menu the waiter invariable sighs and acts annoyed! In short we have never had a favorable experience there and are finally boycotting for good. My wife and I ate here first just after they opened and it was pretty good. Since then we have tried several times and the food is always cold. I read an article in the Oregonian a couple of months ago that outlined an investigation at this location (the one at the streets of tanasbourne) and it detailed how the hlth dept almost closed the restaurant for serving cold food. The HD went to the restaurant several times and every time the foor was not adequately heated. The last time I went here I got sick from the food I ate. I will never eat here again, and tell everybody I can to stay away from this restaurant. If you want Italian there are a plethora of good places to eat ... go to one of the others. The food is good but it is not great and not worth the high price. I had the spinach artichoke dip and it was runny and tasted more like a cassarole than a dip,it wasn't very good. The food is good if you get the right thing like seafood but the prices are a little high. The bread you get is great. Also the belini's are great but they don't taste like there is much alcohol so watch out and don't drink too many. Pros: Good belini's Cons: Don't get the artichoke crab dip more

We went to the Macaroni Grill twice in one week. The first time it was great, our server was friendly and attentive, took our teasing very well and kept the delicious rosemary bread coming. We had a large party of 6 plus a toddler and they kept up with our demands well. The food was very good, and we had a fairly inexpensive Duccetto Reservo Chianti that was divine! Order it by the bottle though, as it's 9 bucks per glass but under 40 for the whole bottle. They will cork it for you if you don't drink it all. I like to watch my nutrition content and the Macaroni Grill has their entire menu online with all the nutrition info one could hope for. The skinny chicken is a great dish with few calories. Other menu items are pretty heavy, so this was a nice feature. \r \r The second time we went was for Mother's day and again we had a large party of 6 plus 2 young children. The restaurant fell a little flat on this occasion. They were out of many of their items and weren't able to accomodate us with special orders for the kids (we wanted plain noodles!). The server did a good job but she had been there for 12 hours straight, a bad policy for a restaurant on a busy day like that. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant this time and it was very noisy. We waited in the bar for a table for about 30 minutes and should have just stayed there to eat as it was quiet and the bartender was friendly, helpful and very on the spot about getting us what we needed. Overrated food with mediocre service. Long ticket times on weekends and if they get the temperature of your seafood or beef entree correct, consider yourself to be there on a great night. We have since ceased bringing out-of-town guests here as it doesn't live up to the standards in the California locations. One of the managers seems to get at this locations seems to get delight in yelling and cursing at the service staff which seems to comprised of false smiles and pretentious attitudes. Too bad because they started to be so promising a year and a half ago. more

If you are coming on a weekend night, reservations are necessary unless you plan on shopping first. We love to take the kids here, for $3.00 they get a choice of about 9 different things (big servings) a drink & 2 choices of dessert. Great value. Not many places the 4 of us can go to eat, with cocktails, for under $40. Plenty of parking, so you never have to worry about that. Pros: Value, Service, Parking more
