My grandest and strongest applause to the Rainbow Lodge! We held my daughter's wedding reception here this month and have received so many compliments from family and guests. M...

Worst

The hostess was not attentive at all and had a snooty attitude. The food was ok, but not cooked well through. The dessert was great, but I couldnt get past the bad hostess. ...

Often crowded, but worth a visit 7/24/2003

I've dined at Rainbow Lodge for both special occasions and business dinners, and I have to agree with the posters below who said that the restaurant is more suitable for the latter than the former. On a slow night, Rainbow Lodge has the potential to be romantic, but most nights, it is crowded and loud, and filled with underdressed conventioners and businessmen. A coat and tie rule wouldn't hurt here. The food is solid, with some interesting wild game choices and very good wines. Service is hit-or-miss, but generally friendly. The grounds are beautiful, though, especially in the spring. Pros: Beautiful grounds, Interesting menu, Good wine list Cons: Often crowded, noisy more

Special Events 5/1/2003

Rainbbow Lodge deserves being reserved for special situations: Graduations, weddings, retirement, etc. It can be too crowded some days. Pros: service, quality, flavor Cons: price more

City's Best 12/23/2002

We had out of town guests and the place was really decked out for the holidays. Our food was great as well as service. Get a table by the fireplace. Great setting and hunting lodge feel for an "in town" restaurant. Best kept secret in Houston. Better than expected! Pros: Ambience, Rustic, Hunting Lodge Feel more

completely relaxing 11/20/2002

This is the place to go when you feel like eating perfectly seasoned wild duck while sitting in the middle of the woods all without traveling outside loop 610. Very enjoyable dining. more

Romantic, its NOT! 11/11/2002

Romantic, its not! The location and drive up to the Lodge looks promising. But that's where the romance ends. Unless you are sitting a a specific table called "the Landing" your conversation is your neighbors conversation. The tables are crammed very close to each other. The wait staff struggles not to bump into your table while serving another. Next, there's no dress code whatsoever. There were several guests in blue jeans, boots and very casual shirts. Furthermore, there were NUMEROUS guests having conversations on their MOBILE PHONES. There was even one guest using his Nextel speaker phone!!! As a result, the Rainbow Lodge is very noisy. Pros: Food, Location Cons: Casual Atmosphere, No Dress Code, Cell Phones more
