Didn't fill order for Christmas dinner 12/23/2010

I placed my order for a Christmas dinner - turkey, dressing to only go p/u and they told me they didn't have my order. Erik said the two other stores also oversold (OVER PROMISED) turkeys! Bad business so I was left on Christmas eve without my Christmas dinner due to poor managment. Erik's attitude was also ""your problem, not mine""! I will not give my business to them ever again! more

Loud, poor service, food not good! 10/25/2010

Well, I grew up in the heart of Cajun country, Lafayette, LA. I have a pretty good idea of what cajun food should taste like and I was sorely disappointed in the quality of the food. The service was really terrible. This was the first cajun food restaurant in the Houston metro that we tried and we won't be back. There are many others that offer better quality and authenticity, at a fraction of the price. more

Best Crawfish in Houston.Good food, but not authentic. 11/16/2009

I actually like this place, but in moderation because it is VERY expensive. For those who like Ragin Cajun food, sign up for their monthly coupons. You can get some of your favorites for a fraction of the price. I'm Creole so I think their food is good, but not authentic. So far, I've tried their soft shell crab which was tasty. I've had their dirty rice....which didn't taste like dirty rice, but it was still very flavorful. I've had their shrimp and crab gumbo, which was also flavorful (i had to spice it up though).....the only problem is that they put WAY too much rice in it. All in all, they have the HUGEST crawfish around. Yes, it is SUPER expensive for what seems like a measly ol 3.5 lbs but trust me......I've actually shopped around and no one has bigger or better crawfish as of right now. All in all, I think it’s a good place with tasty food and a friendly staff! Pros: LARGEST and BEST Crawfish in Houston Cons: Food pricier than most more

Overrated! 5 stars? Why? NOT RECOMMENDED 10/21/2008

I saw the reviews and had to try this place. What a waste of money! The food was OK, but way overpriced. I went with my wife and we ordered the Shrimp Etouffee and the Catfish Filets entree. The Etouffee was not very good, with the roux not brown or the right flavor. The jambalaya side was good, along with the french bread and cornbread, but I didn't come for the sides. The Catfish was good, but $15.99 for the entree with two sides and bread is TOO MUCH. Go to RAZOO'S instead! the atmosphere was very loud with the UT game on near the bar, and a loud TV on the other side. Cons: TOO PRICEY, loud atmosphere more

BLAH seafood for too much money! 2/27/2007

this place is a complete rip off. You can buy 3 pound crawfish here for over 20.00 where they have them in other places now for 2.95 a pound! and they taste better!!!! \r \r I just can't belive i wasted 69.00 on food here! Their gumbo tasted like ROUX WATER with rice more

What Excitement! 2/26/2007

Went here for the first time on a Friday. Crowded, yes.. but not bad for a Friday night. They got you in and out fast. The food was fast and seating wasn't too hard to find. Had to share an extended seating table with another group, but it wasn't bad at all. Had the shrimp basket. came with fries and french bread. VERY YUMMY!!!! there was a dip that we used for the shrimp that was better than cocktail sauce. Loud, but great for ppl watching and impressive service! Will definitely go back again! (2 shrimp baskets and 2 sodas = $25 - but well worth it!) Pros: Great food and fast Cons: loud, not good for first dates more

cajun wings 7/26/2006

their cajun wings are outstanding, and be sure to save room for bread pudding. i've been going to the richmond and westheimer locations for years. more

Dont Believe The Hype... 1/13/2006

We live in League City and we wanted to go get ""the best"" crawfish...so we citysearch best cajun and Ragin Cajun has a 9.7... Yeah its far, but we think... ""good crawfish? worth it!""... Well It wasnt! Not only did we drive 45 minutes to get there but when we did arrive we saw prices...3lbs of crawfish for 22 bucks. And not just that but most of the crawfish were the size of a dime. The only way I can figure someone rating this restuarant more than a 2, is that it must be managment or employees trying to get people in there. We left ...25 dollars poorer and hungry! The taste was spicy, which was good. However, THAT, is the only compliment I can give Ragin Cajun. Do not believe the hype. This is not worth your time or money. Pros: Good Taste. Cons: Horrible Value., Small Portions., Bad Lighting. more

I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS PLACE 9/18/2005

I'm a cajun. I have been to place 2 days in a row! Enough said. This is now the premier place were all my clients, family, and friends will be going we they come into town. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Price Cons: Too Far from me, Too far for my in-law, because they love it! more

Watch out for the Margs 6/6/2005

Friendly, awesome service...miss my favorite waitress Amy! Great relaxed fun atmosphere...but watch out for the Margaritas...they will get you! Love those Mardi gras Oysters and crawfish too! more

This is the Place... 8/8/2002

This very accessible location and reasonably priced restaurant makes Ragin' Cajun a great place for family and friend gatherings. The cusine, beverage selection and service with a personal touch, are all excellent. It is a regular stop for lunch or dinner. R.L. Trailor Pros: great service, great food, reasonable prices more

""Mandola Tradition"" lives on - Pt. 2 8/1/2002

And last, but certainly not least...the food. Dom's kitchen is well run with a lot of care, and the result is always great food that's consistent and keeps you coming back for more. Don't miss out on the experience. Try it...I promise, you'll like it! Great job, guys! I'm proud of the both of you. more

finger licking good 8/1/2002

you have to love ragin cajun. the owners are first class. the food is healthy and spicy. the bartenders know what they are doing. it like being on the river's edge in louisiana. music is hoping. the pigskin/football is on everywhere. count me in. Pros: spacious, fun, real cajun food Cons: little noisy, needs cool air outsid, more parking more

Fast! Delicious! Great Experience! 8/1/2002

I have eaten at a lot of Cajun restaurants, and for some reason...none of them compare to the great food at the Ragin Cajun! The service was great, fast, and friendly. I have to say that I would rather go to the ragin cajun for my fix of ""New Orleans type food,"" than to Brennan's! You have to try this. The atmosphere is fun. Also, if you need somewhere to go on ""Fat Tuesday's,"" go here, cause it's crazy and fun!!! Andrea Blanton Pros: inexpensive, great food more

Great food, great price, great place 8/1/2002

This is a great place to eat. The food is awesome, the staff is fun, and the prices reasonable. It is also a fun place to watch football when the season kicks up. Go Tulane! more

Best Seafood in Houston 7/31/2002

The Ragin Cajun is by far the best restaurant in Houston. This place has a little bit of everything for everyone. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is excellent. I usually order the grilled fish, but other favorites of mine include the Domalotta, and Luke's Stuffed Shrimp, not to mention the absolute best crawfish in Houston. When you dine at the Ragin Cajun keep an eye out for celebrities, everyone loves to hang out at the Ragin Cajun. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Good Looking People more

DOMMA LONGA DING DANG! 7/31/2002

I was in town for business recently. I stopped in for some cajun food since Los Angelenos have never heard of the stuff. Tried a poorboy called the Dominator or something. Damn tasty with a Shiner to wash it down. Went back the next day for the standard red beans and rice. The broad sitting next to me on the way home didn't appreciate it! Damn good food, damn friendly owners. How about a branch in LA, guys? more
